THE MARCH FOR MARCH! - 2025 - Embrace your Madness!
Brother Argent replied to Brother Argent's topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
It wasn’t last year. And I’m happy to waiver it this year. Assembled and even primed can count, but bonus imaginary points if it is from scratch. -

THE MARCH FOR MARCH! - 2025 - Embrace your Madness!
Brother Argent replied to Brother Argent's topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
If it doesn't match either of the Combat Patrol generations (which I don't think it can) it can still count as an Outlandish Madness (approx 500 pts) so it would work if you want to make a vow. -

Good day Brothers and Sisters of the B&C. I told you it was coming, albeit it a week or so late. Its that time again, time for the March for March 2025. For those interested, here is a link to last years March The March has undergone a few changes this year, including the how, whats and whyfores. And perhaps a little of the maybes. I've removed the battle report pat out as no one really did that last year, and added a bit more structure to hopefully make things easier on me, a more joyously mad and successful event for everyone else. So, lets embrace the madness once again and get down business. What is the Challenge exactly? I hear you ask. I maybe thats just the voices in my head. No matter. Last year I was trying to paint a Combat Patrol Box set in a month. I failed horribly. So this year I am encouraging you all to do the same (failing part optional, of course) I challenge people to either take on one or more of the following tasks: > Challenge the First (A Modern Madness): - Assemble, paint to your standard and base one of the current Combat Patrol Boxes > Challenge the Second (A Legacy of Madness) - Assemble, paint to your standard and base one of the previous Combat Patrol Boxes > Challenge the Third (An Outlandish Madness) - Assemble, paint to your standard and base approximately 500 pts of a chosen force. Regardless of the challenge you take post progress and final pictures in this thread. Because we are already into the month and a challenge like this probably takes some fore thought and planning (unless your name is Brother Argent...) the challenge this year will have a sign up/preperation period of roughly a week, give or take a day with people then having a month from that point to finish their vow. Please note I wont play hard and fast with these times, but close enough could be. So how do I participate? So, to embrace this madness all you need to is post the following here "I, <insert name here> vow to embrace my madness and complete <insert Brand of Madness/Challenge here> of <insert faction here (eg. Ultramarines, World Eaters, Hive Fleet Wet Noodle etc.)> by the 15/4 and vow to share my madness with others as I March for March!" Provide a before pic in this thread. And a unit break down if you want. But no need if not, this is a casual thing after all. So, join me (or not) on my mad MARCH FOR MARCH! The Ranks of the Mad Marchers

Well, that took a lot more doing then I had hoped but At this point I have eclipsed last months total. I'm calling my Command Squad and accompanying staff complete: A little disappointed on the counts as Castellan but I think it might be the sculpt, not my painting. Its just not doing it for me. And despite heating and straigtening the banner pole before priming it, for some reason, decided to redroop over a few days. Might need to cut and shut a pole from something else on there. So for now I didn't paint it, other then basic colour. Whilst I am not as happy as I'd like to be with these guys, I am calling them done and moving on. Next up, Two field gun batteries and a Sentinel. Given my completeion rate, probably impossible. But I am going to give it a good crack.

12 Months of Hobby 2024 Favourites Poll
Brother Argent replied to Grotsmasha's topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
Could it be that Grot likes Dreadnoughts. About half the favourites are big stompy robots... Thanks for the nod back in Jan last year mate. Though honestly to me you cant go past that Stormsurge -
So, first Feb vow is complete. Had these complete for a few days but didn't get around to uploading photos. Indeed that is seeming to be one of the bigger killers of my productivity. Anyway, having doubled my output for last month I have decided to aim big: Continuing the month of Feburary I, Brother Argent, vow to complete: 1x Cadian New Eden Command Squad (5x Models) 1x Counts as Cadian Castellan/Creed 2x Commisars 1x Santioned Psyker (or whatever they are now) Been nearly a year since I painted my guard (last years March for March) and the destruction of my hobby stuff at that time was the start of my hobby downfall so wish me luck to finally get these guys done.

January Report: Models complete: (Hernkyn x1) Starting Leadweight: 887.7 Leadweight Goal: 880 End Leadweight: 891.7 Total Gain/Loss: +4 Well.... damn... Not only did I not complete anywhere near what I had hoped I went back because I found a Hive Tyrant and Tyranid Warrior I had stripped and packed away in the wrong area. At least its only a gain on accounting, not on buying. Even so, not at all the start I had hoped for. Going to need to knuckle down a lot more this month. Mental health is having a bit of a drain on my but I will push on. So, onto Feburary, The adepts of the Administratum have completed their cogitations and I, Brother Argent, bear a Leadweight of 891.7 on my mortal soul (excluding for now Warhammer Fantasy and all Firstborn marines). I pledge to make every effort to reduce this to 864.7 by the dawn of next month, through the toil of painting.

Well last month really didn't go to plan. I am finding I have less time and even less enthusiam for painting at the moment. Of course as soon as I pick up a brush and start I really enjoy it but the old black dog is making it hard for me to get there. Hobbying is my escape from a lot of my issues and it seems the issues have finally clued on. I must say the level and quality of paainting on here is improving year after year and I love coming back to see what awesome things people have come up with. @jaxom Skin is something I am trying to experiment with. I need some darker and warmer skin tones I think. As for the leather.... lets see if I can remember... I think it was: Undercoat Grey Heavy Drybrush Dawnstone Zenithal drybrush White Snakebite Leather Contrast 1:1 Snakebite Leather Contrast/Water or Medium again Drybrush of Zandri Dust Edge highlight/scratches with Zandry dust. Agrax Earthshade wash on endges and belts etc I wanted darker. I think that was it... Anyway, Feburary is a whole new month. Lets try to start it off on a good note: I, Brother Argent, vow for the month of Feburary to paint 1x Repentia and 1x Arcoflagellant by months end. Two quick and easy models to start things off. Going to need to get a good crack in this month though to get anywhere near what I want to by years end. Oh and at some point decide on a Plodding Along Vow. And get more into my Beat the Backlog challenge. Can't forget restarting my WIP log.... 2025 is proving... difficult.
-
Well.... This hasn't gone to plan at all... Intending on bashing through a huge chunk of my back log, to then take twenty six days to paint one model... In saying that I was trying new techniques. Mostly focusing on my leather. This is what I came up with: Not hugely keen on the blue armour or the face, but the leather and the weathering came out good. Now... what to paint... I've got a lot of choices. But not much time or capability these days it seems... Going to at least get something decent done by months end.

I pledge to make every effort to reduce this to 880 by the dawn of next month, through the toil of painting. Here I was thinking I had a huge back log but despite having been collecting for 25 plus years I seem to have a small pile copared to some. Even if some of that pile is still in plastic wrap from 2009... And some still on sprues from even earlier. I guess relative poverty has its benefits... I am going to start small, having started late in the month. Still think it will be a push but I gotta start somewhere.
