Thank you! Excellent feedback! I was already thinking I had invested too much in force multipliers vs just dudes. I'm not entirely sure the Delegatus is vital since the RoW isn't that vital if I take a tac squad. So I can maybe bring a Warmonger or some other niche HQ. Generally want to keep the max Interemptors, because they aren't too durable so numbers should help. Maybe a Contemptor (or -Cortus) with chainfist and grav? They seem potent in ZM. With a Warmonger I can deep strike in the Terminators, so I can put in a Nuncio-Vox for scatter on the Tac squad. That seem viable or is deep striking too risky?

HQ: Praetor AA, IH, Terranic GS, PotL Primus Medicae Cataphratii, Calabanite Warblade Elites: Apothecary w/ AA (10) Interemptors 2x Incinerators Troops: (6) ICK Cenobium 3x TH, 3x Terranic GS, Hunter of Beasts First real foray into ZM, loving the DA models and this gets me almost all the ones I want. Praetor and Apoth joins the Interemptors, PM goes with ICKs. The idea was to make them more durable. Few vehicles expected, so I aim the THs at any dreads that come my way. Thoughts? Any obvious issues I'm missing? Help is appreciated!

I'm just trying to find my way back to Warhammer 40k after a long hiatus... hoping the Marines bring me back. Enjoying the idea of the diversity of the list and the chance to model some pretty heroic dudes. Raven Guard Successor Chapter Born Heroes / Whirlwind of Rage Necropolis Hawks Adeptus Astartes - Strike Force - Eternal War ( 12CP - 2000PT - 0PT ) Adeptus Astartes Battalion Detachment ( 3CP - 1975PT ) SUB-FACTION: Raven Guard HQ Lieutenant in Reiver Armour (75) Primaris Captain (145) Heavy bolt pistol, Master-crafted power sword, Relic shield UPGRADE: Chapter Master WARLORD: Primaris Chaplain on Bike (140) UPGRADE: Master of Sanctity TRAITS: Champion of Humanity LITANIES: Canticle of Hate (Aura) TROOPS Assault Intercessor Squad (200) 1x Assault Intercessor Sergeant: Power fist 9x Assault Intercessor Heavy Intercessor Squad (300) 1x Heavy Intercessor Sergeant 2x Heavy Intercessor: Heavy bolter 7x Heavy Intercessor Incursor Squad (115) 1x Incursor: Haywire mine 1x Incursor Sergeant 3x Incursor Incursor Squad (115) 1x Incursor: Haywire mine 1x Incursor Sergeant 3x Incursor ELITES Bladeguard Veteran Squad (175) 1x Bladeguard Veteran Sergeant 4x Bladeguard Veteran Primaris Apothecary (95) UPGRADE: Chief Apothecary FAST ATTACK Inceptor Squad (225) 1x Inceptor Sergeant: 2x Plasma exterminator 4x Inceptor: 2x Plasma exterminator HEAVY SUPPORT Eliminator Squad (90) 1x Eliminator Sergeant 2x Eliminator Eliminator Squad (90) 1x Eliminator Sergeant 2x Eliminator Eradicator Squad (210) 1x Eradicator: Multi-melta 1x Eradicator Sergeant 3x Eradicator Total Command Points: 3/15 Reinforcement Points: 0 Total Points: 2000/2000 The idea here is to capitalize on movement shenanigans. The Chappy boosts up field towards the enemy and to be ideally near the Bladeguard or Assault Intercessors to lob out CoH or EoR, depending on need. CM's Master of Ambush will pull the CM and Apothecary to where they will do the best work (or another unit if I need to rearrange a unit I can). The Inceptors DfA to where their plasma will do the most work. The Incursors and Infiltrators use Concealed Positions to get forward and/or lock out other movement shenanigans. Strike from the Shadows will be on the Bladeguard and/or Eradicators (or maybe Infiltrators if that is better). There is a lot of synergy in the list, I think, and it should be able to just slingshot right into the enemy. The heavy Intercessors can lock down an area (Unyielding can help too) or split up and form a firebase and a unit to march onto another objective. Apothecary is going to do double revives with the 3 wounds because oh lord that is brutal. Tempted to toss the Armour of Shadows on the Apoth just to keep them a bit safer. Also, with it being the Necropolis Hawks as my Chapter of choice, I am hoping to make this thematic. Like they are moving around the urban ruins and all that. I think by not having vehicles it will feel more true to form. On a last note, I had an alternative list that drops an Eradicator w/ MM and the Interceptors for a Suppressor squad and a Reiver Lieutenant w/ Oppressor's End for another forward threat (Reiver) and a unit I can have drop onto a distant objective w/ Smokescreen who can also put out some long-range fire. Thoughts on the primary list? Alternative? The overall strat? Not looking to go outside of the Ultima Founding fluff, so all Primaris. Otherwise, open to all input! EDIT: Updated it for some points errors I discovered via the new app. Didn't rewrite the breakdown so some stuff may have changed but the general premise is the same.

Well, I did make a list that opts for more bodies and one less HQ. I may still run the list with the Warmonger if only to have another character to model/paint. HQ: Praetor Paragon Blade, Digital Lasers, Iron Halo, Jump Pack, Trophies [190] Elites: Contemptor-Cortus 2x Grav, Chainfist Dreadnought Drop Pod [275] (8) Legion Cataphractii Squad 6x Combi-Plasma, 4x Chainfist, Transponder [362] (10) Veteran Squad 6x Combi-Meltas, Meltabombs, Nuncio-Vox Artificer Armor, Power Fist Drop Pod [315] (3) Apothecary Artificer Armor x2 Jump Pack x1 [170] Troops: (9) Terror Squad (Apoth) 8x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor, Power Fist Drop Pod [273] (10) Terror Squad 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor, Power Fist [255] (15) Night Raptors 8x Chainglaives Artificer Armor, Headman's Axe, Trophies [360] (15) Assault Marines (Praetor, Apoth) Meltabombs, 3x Power Axes Power Fist, Artificer Armor [340] Fast Attack: Primaris-Lightining 4x Kraken, BSC, GTA [230] Heavy: Fire Raptor Reaper, Hellstrikes [230] [3000] Thoughts? I think it has most of the bases covered. Going to be casting some dead bodies this weekend for building up a thematic mound of dead to use on the display/bases. Real pumped to start painting this army now that I have like 90% of it purchased.

"Massacre" was what made me think that the Night Lords didn't fight like the rest of the Legions during the Massacre, so I tried to lean into that. I am working on a list that just has the Praetor. Mostly chunks up the other squads. Not many big changes otherwise. ~30 Jump dudes 8 Termies and ~30 normal dudes. Not a lot, but hopefully it works.

Hobby question for y'all - the new flying stands from the Primaris dudes. How well do those work with Assault Marines? I was thinking of using them for my Night Raptors, but didn't want to invest if they looked bad.
-
Assault Marines because Raptors are killy enough and already a target, plus loose rules when adding characters, so I wanted a nice jump unit for a Praetor. Warmonger was mostly to have another character to model and he brings some melee to the party. Terminators pay to Deep Strike, but when he joins it's free. The Terror Squads and Raptors aren't really there for vehicles. The Vets are and the Assault Squad can in a pinch. Termites can in melee, just in case they're up against a Knight or something. I figured I'd rather be overboard with antitank than not. I know it's pretty slim on bodies, but I hoped for at least some quality and longevity to the bodies I had. As for theme, the Night Lords struck me as one Legion that wouldn't just throw bodies at the loyalists and would have components come in behind or from other avenues, so that was my thought. Building a board near the end of the Urgall Depression that shows a group of Iron Hands surrounded and with piles of bodies. Alllll that being said, I'm open to tweaking things. I currently own all of that stuff and some extras. So I have some flexibility. What are some changes you'd think would help specifically?

Speaking of that list - finally actually wrote it up: HQ: Praetor Paragon Blade, Digital Lasers, Iron Halo, Jump Pack, Trophies [190] Warmonger Headsman's Axe, Artificer Armor [130] Elites: Contemptor-Cortus 2x Grav, Chainfist Dreadnought Drop Pod [275] (6) Legion Cataphractii Squad (WM) 6x Combi-Plasma, 4x Chainfist [287] (10) Veteran Squad 6x Combi-Meltas, Meltabombs, Nuncio-Vox Artificer Armor, Power Fist Drop Pod [315] (3) Apothecary Artificer Armor x2 Jump Pack x1 [170] Troops: (9) Terror Squad (Apoth) 8x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor Drop Pod [258] (10) Terror Squad (Apoth) 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor [240] (14) Night Raptors 8x Chainglaives Artificer Armor, Headman's Axe, Trophies [345] (12) Assault Marines (Praetor, Apoth) Meltabombs, 4x Power Axes Power Fist, Artificer Armor [326] Fast Attack: Primaris-Lightining 4x Kraken, BSC, GTA [230] Heavy: Fire Raptor Reaper, Hellstrikes [230] [2996] Should be legal. Don't think I missed anything. How does that look? Suitably Drop Site Massacre-y?
-
Ok, so I know the Leviathan is one of those distraction type units that also does have a lot of oomph, but its also eating up a ton of points for my list. I am wondering if it wouldn't be better to opt for the Fire Raptor and put points into more dudes. Thoughts on that direction?

Thanks for the feedback! It is so helpful as I try to reacquaint myself with the rules after so long out of the game. Yeah, for the twin CFs on the CCD - I spaced and thought it needed two for the +1A. Just rusty on the rules there. I went ahead and adjusted some stuff based on the feedback plus some just general tinkering. Here is what I wound up with: HQ: Warmonger Headsman's Axe, Artificer Armor [130] Elites: Contemptor-Cortus 2x Grav, Chainfist Dreadnought Drop Pod [275] (8) Legion Cataphractii Squad 7x Combi-Plasma, 3x Chainfist [344] (3) Apothecarion Detachment Artificer Armor x2, Jump Pack x1 [170] (10) Veteran Squad 6x Combi-Meltas, Meltabombs, Nuncio-Vox Artificer Armor, Power Fist Drop Pod [315] Troops: (10) Terror Squad (Apoth) 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor [240] (10) Terror Squad (Apoth) 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor [240] (12) Night Raptors (Apoth) 8x Chainglaives Artificer Armor, Headman's Axe, Trophies [315] Fast Attack: Primaris-Lightining 4x Kraken, BSC, GTA [230] Xiphon GTA [215] Javelin Attack Speeder TL Las, MM, 2x HKs [85] Heavy: Leviathan Drill w/ Melta, AC, Phosphex, CML Dreadnought Drop Pod [440] [2999] Changes: Added Jav for Deep Strike tank hunting. Dropped Praetor for a WM to go with the Terminators over the Raptors, so they don't lose their rule (and for free DS). Apothecary moved to Raptors and now it has some ablative dudes. Headsman's Axe added to the Huntmaster too. A LOT of emphasis on antitank because I know that is a common weakness of the list. With all the Volkite, the Raptors, and Termies (even Vets too), I am hoping I have enough to tackle infantry. How does that look? Thoughts on the adjustments?

HQ: Praetor Paragon Blade, Iron Halo, Digital Lasers, Jump Pack, Trophies [190] Elites: Contemptor-Cortus 2x Grav, 2x Chainfist Dreadnought Drop Pod [285] (8) Legion Terminator Squad 8x Combi-Plasma, 3x Chainfist, Transponder [366] (3) Apothecarion Detachment Artificer Armor [165] (9) Veteran Squad (Apoth) 7x Combi-Meltas, Meltabombs, Nuncio-Vox Artificer Armor, Power Fist Drop Pod [303] Troops: (10) Terror Squad (Apoth) 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor [240] (10) Terror Squad (Apoth) 9x Volkite Charger Artificer Armor [240] (12) Night Raptors (Praetor) 12x Chainglaives, Artificer Armor [325] Fast Attack: Primaris-Lightining 4x Kraken, BSC, GTA [230] Xiphon GTA [215] Heavy: Leviathan Drill w/ Melta, AC, Phosphex, CML Dreadnought Drop Pod [440] [2999] Looking to jump into the Heresy in 2021 and this list I've been tinkering with for... well really years. I do finally own most of it. Just hammering out what I want to commit to. I figure the Leviathan, Vets and Lightning give me enough anti-tank. The Cortus can do it too. Raptors, Terrors, Termies are more for fighting infantry. Xiphon can take out other aircraft and tanks. Pod Vets come in and guide the Terminators for T2 deep strike (ideally). Two Terrors infiltrate. I tried to make it as TAC as possible. Thoughts?

What interests you/how do you like to play/is there anything that puts you off or you really like? Im open to anything really. Anything that sounds "fluffy" for NL Curze. :D

You are bad and should feel bad! :D

Considering taking the plunge here because an elite, small-number army with a few vehicles sounds fun to paint. Also, they are "good guys" - which I could use since my primary are Night Lords. Here was my jumping off point: HQ: Tribune Praesidium Shield, Digital Lasers, Cyber-Familiar, Paragon Spear, Arae-Shrikes [277] Elites: (4) Hetaeron Guard 2x Paragon Blades, 1x Solerite Gauntlet, 3x Shields, Magisterium vexilla & Sentinel Warblade, Arae-Shrikes Coronus Grav-carrier Armored Ceramite [528] Troops: (3) Sentinel Guard Squad (Tribune) Solerite Gauntlet Coronus Grav-Carrier [350] x3 Fast Attack: (3) Agamatus Jetbike Squadron Corvae Las-Pulsar [250] (3) Agamatus Jetbike Squadron Corvae Las-Pulsar [250] Heavy: Caladius Grav-Tank Armored Ceramite [215] x3 [3000] I know it isn't exciting or all that interesting... but it is all the stuff from them I like. I have just shy of 15 bodies - so modelling wise I can put some time into each. Though yes, a bit spammy. :/ Any thoughts?
-
Not sure the Arae-Shrikes apply if they are in transports, so that is a slight blessing, as their transports seem like a no-brainer. Though if they go footslogging or Deep Striking, it can prove an issue. Though we can get just outside it and pump Volkite into a squad, as you said, because volume of firepower is a solid strategy to force 1's. Really, I think that is the overall easiest way for us to kill them - drown them in wounds. TfM should really help that.
