  1. The Munitorum Field Manual has been updated with the points for Forgeworld units and can be found here. Unfortunately it looks like we've lost some more units to the Legends hammer as there are quite a few things not listed. Somewhat frustrating for me as I added a Minotaur and a second Medusa to my collection late last year and now they aren't usable at events! Quad Guns and Heavy Mortars are also missing (although I had expected this with the release of the new field guns).
  2. Thanks chaps, the tournament organisers have done a great job and all of their events I've attended this year have been lots of fun (Savage Hammer Gaming for anyone UK based).
  3. The tracks were ever so slightly warped on one side but otherwise it is a very easy kit to put together. The tracks pieces also don't quite meet on the front of the tank, which I thought was my bad building skills but the one in the Warhammer World Forgeworld Store is exactly the same so its evidently a design issue. Fixable with greenstuff if you felt inclined. It is by far the easiest to put together FW vehicle model I've purchased so far. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We had the doubles tournament on Saturday with both the Grey Knights and Guard performing very well at their tasks during the battles. GAME 1 - First match was against Daemons. This was a very very tough match but lots of fun, probably one of the best games of 40k I've ever had. They had 2 Bloodthirsters, 1 Keeper of Secrets and Belakor, plus 20 Bloodletters, some chaos hounds and nurglings. They were extremely aggressive and pinned us into a corner but we managed to hold out (an exploding Tank Commander knocked the last wound off a Bloodthirster at one point!). Final score was 83-80 to them. A wild ride of a game, they only had the nurglings and chaos hounds left at the end of the game! The Baneblade remained unscathed and had dished out some withering punishment throughout the match which was nice. Our Deployment for game 1 The Tank Commander before it exploded taking a Bloodthirster with it and dealing 3 mortal wounds to the other one! GAME 2 - Necrons/Sisters of Battle. They had the Void Dragon and the Nightbringer and a large squad of retributors with meltas. We were concerned at the start. Fortunately, we out-maneuvered them and did large amounts of damage very quickly which stopped them from scoring points. They also had some immense bad luck, with one of the players rolling six 1's in a row.... We lost 4 models in the entire game (only 1 guardsman from my side). We won with a final score of roughly 96 - 35 (or something like that). The Baneblade lining up a shot on the Void Dragon (after the Void Dragon only did 5 mortal wounds in its only round of being in range of anything!) GAME 3- Custodes/Grey Knights - This was another easy one. Unfortunately they redeployed their Custodes Jetbikes poorly to get them out of line of sight of the Tank Commanders and ended up putting them in the firing line of the Baneblade instead - 2 jetbikes died in the first turn of shooting. They made a good effort of getting into our lines with the rest of the jetbikes charging into some Grey Knight Terminators but unfortunately for our opponents with a Grey Knight special character in the proximity of our terminators we won that skirmish. A Grandmaster Dreadknight teleported behind the Baneblade and chipped off some wounds, but was then annihilated by overwatch. After that with the big threats dealt with, we mopped up what was left and scored as many points as possible. We won this game with a final score of something like 87 - 35 (or there abouts). The board at the start of game 3 FINAL RESULTS We came in second place which meant adding another Silver Medal to my collection! We actually scored the highest amount of victory points as well, with 20 points more than the first place team. First place went to the Daemon team who beat us in the first round who won all their games, very nice guys (as were all our opponents) who definitely deserved the win!
  4. Thank you! I think it is probably my favourite model that I own and is always fun to take to tournaments because barely anyone knows what it is! I did consider a second one a few weeks ago but the prices are starting to get a bit silly now.
  5. Thanks, we really were not expecting even a top 5 finish and had even named ourselves the "Wooden Spoon Brigade" in the roster in anticipation of coming somewhere near the bottom. Yes another doubles event this weekend, same pairing (guard and grey knights). We've made some slight tweaks to our lists but should still be fun to use! Yeah we started going to doubles tournaments together at the start of 7th and only ever play Guard and Grey Knights when together in doubles! Had lots of fun with the Malcador Defender back when firing arcs actually mattered!
  6. The 61st Daltarn Forge Guards attended a local doubles tournament allied with my friend's Grey Knights a couple of months ago. My 1000pts army (minus the psyker that I had to borrow off the tournament organisers as I forgot the model!). Deployment in game 1. Deployment in game 3. Unfortunately didn't get many pictures. But we won all 3 games and came in second place and got a shiny silver medal each (much to our surprise!). We've got another round on Saturday so hopefully we can match our result from this previous tournament!
  7. If winning isn't priority then have a look at the Malcador Defender from Forgeworld. Mine always comes with me to tournaments as a fun choice and it usually does far better than it really should. It either: - Gets priority targeted over tank commanders by people who don't know what it is (leaving the tank commanders mostly unscathed for a turn) and occasionally survives with 1 or 2 wounds left due to starting on 18 wounds. You then do relentless to get it to shoot on top profile meaning it still has a reasonable chance of causing some damage. or - It gets left alone because people don't think it will do much, but even at bs4+ with 5 heavy bolters, 2 lascannons and the demolisher cannon it will usually do a good chunk of damage (especially when combined with gunnery experts and spotter details as regimental traits). Is it an optimal choice? Absolutely not, and when your dice don't behave it feels pretty useless for its points. Does it look cool? Yes Has it occasionally single handedly won me games through becoming an obstinant force of nature? Somehow on more than one occasion (most notable recently was killing a 5 man unit of jump pack vanguard veterans with stormshields and powerfists in overwatch, keeping our priority objective safe for the remaining 2 turns of the game and clinching us the win). Armageddon Pattern Medusa's are also worth a look if you want some more interesting artillery than the standard lot. 2 parked in a corner with Commisar Yarrick (with gunnery experts and spotter details on top) makes for a very functional delete button for any enemy monsters/vehicles you don't want hanging about.
  8. Saw this photoshop of a wheeled version on reddit earlier, much better than the hoverplates. Will be converting mine like that i think!
  9. Another vote for Baneblade, great book.
  10. An enjoyable first episode. The space battle looked fantastic, hopefully the ground combat lives up to that. I think the only minor complaints would be the facial animations for speech were pretty awful, but unlike with Angels of Death everything else was done to a high enough standard that it didn't detract from my enjoyment. The script could be a worry going by the awkwardly timed back and forth by the two soldiers, but hopefully that was a one off and any further humour will land a little better. Looking forward to next week!
  11. My dad took me into a local toy shop in 1998 as he wanted some modelling supplies. I found a Lizardmen painting set and a I believe a box of Lizardmen Skinks. A few months later I had purchased my first Space Marines (a pack of 5 I think) and a copy of White Dwarf. The Skinks box has been kept as a keepsake, as has the copy of White Dwarf.
  12. I basically got nothing done last year frustratingly so this year I've got two main goals - 1. Finish my Warhound titan - weapons need magnetising, trim needs washing (if i can remember the colour i need), base needs finishing and I'm tempted to do some weathering. 2. Get my Black Templars up to 1k of fully painted and based models. A further goal that I'm unlikely to get around to, is that I would also like to finish the Tau army that I co-own with a friend as the Riptide I purchased has been half built for four years now, not to mention all the other bits! Hopefully the new codex will provide some motivation for that.
  13. "Slaughter" was not a great episode for me unfortunately. The last couple of episodes they seemed to have got things together a bit with the sounds and camera work, but this felt like it was back to square one.
  14. I hadn't watched any since they took the "mid season break", so it was nice to catch up on 3 episodes at once. I quite enjoyed all 3 of the latest episodes, although there have been some extremely jarring facial animations (especially the GSC priestess) and the usual "we'll stop mid-combat to have a chat" strangeness that seems to plague sections of most episodes. The shot where the camera went from the bottom of the space elevator all the way up into orbit was great. The tech marine is awesome and the dreadnought awakening sequence was pretty interesting. I think my biggest worry when it was evident where the tech marine was going, considering how meh the sound design has been the whole way through, was that they would mess up the dreadnought voice. They did not and it was a glorious way to end the episode.
  15. Yeah tried to buy doubles tickets earlier. Sat at my desk from 18.55 and literally the minute it ticked over to 19.00 and the button came up I tried to buy them and it crashed. I'm guessing due to last year that lots of people are desperate to get some games in, just sucks for those of us who keep missing out.
