You know it's absolutely ridiculous we finally have a Wolf-skull helm bit for Wolf Priests and I'm seriously contemplating going with this bare-beardy head instead because it's so epic.

I'm burning through my pile of shame to clear the way for new Space Wolves model, I desperately need some news.

I actually thought about it, remembering how a pain of the ass painting my drop pods actually were, and changed my mind. You don't have to paint the exterior now! The interior is basically all metallics dry brushing!

suspect strongly it's a templar. Kind of exciting? Would be the first "new" Templar character in some time. Their refresh remade everything in the back catalogue so this could be something brand new.

A next generation drop pod from Crawl would have been preferable to this. A new kit with hull embedded weapons to solve the "safety hazard stormbolter" problem, with an alternative kit build for style Deathstorm style to deep strike stationary weapon platforms. I'd rather have this than no drop pod at all (as Primaris troops had no option to for many years of their existence) but this is just giving up on the drop pod as a vehicle kit and and turning it into scenery.

Big "what was the point" feelings here. Just a piece of scenery now. Could have had some weapon pod options or something.

Wolf Scouts perhaps?

I wonder if the rumoured Wolf Scouts will have special weapons and melee weapons to differentiate them from regular scouts. It'd be their classic loadout, which Codex scouts also got (missile launchers, heavy bolters, etc). It might be unappealing to GW give Tacticus troops plasmas and meltas these days but maybe for an elite scout unit they're okay with it. edit: their current rules allow for all that fun stuff, Would love for these types of scouts to get new models

The weapons, belt, and fur cape is easy peasy, the only feature I'd feel like I couldn't source (at least one that fits naturally) is the loin pelt. Nothing against the model, perfectly in line with the new Blood Claw and Grey Hunter squad leader with a cape give them a +1 in rank.

Plenty Wolfy but also something that could have wolfed up from a bits box.

They're the same size as Primaris but are less bulky because they're less lightly armoured.

Plus the Space Wolves don't have a 1st Company, they don't concentrate their super veterans in a single company or assign them to overarching Chapter Honour Guard like Codex Marines do. It stands to reason a Great Company could have a 'right-hand of the Jarl' who is technically "the equivalent of a lieutenant" but it essentially as veteran as any Codex Captain (with the swag and threads to match).

I would have happily taken them as a dual kit given how I feared they were going the way of Death Company and becoming intercessors+upgrade sprue (and the fact that we've been building Blood Claws and Grey hunters outta the same kit for decade and a half anyways). But examining the poses and armour differences, they're pretty clearly separate kits.
