Wait what? Where on Earth are you that you got it basically four days early? Because using a stormcast trident might have been too on the nose?More than likely  I mean, I'm going to be using parts from the Dark Elf Dreadspears, as I have all 10 of those left over. I don’t think so, what with the heretical Army Painter paint 'Tis why I said "basically". Obviously they'll replace the Army Painter with the GW Equivalent (Caledor Sky). The real question is what the primer will be. That would be cool; a confirmation that I at least got one good idea in life! Or maybe rather, confirmation that I am such a slave of the machine, that even the “creative” side of my hobby follows a GW system...

Ooh, so it might show up before the 1st? That's awesome! Also, speaking of awesome, WarhammerTV just posted this video, how to kitbash a Primaris Captain of the Emperor's Spears: Now I'm wondering, what spears are there that one could use if they don't want to use Xenos tech? Someone mentioned the Stormcast Prosecutors' spears or the Stormsuge Trident from that kit. And tomorrow we're getting the how to paint. Now, who wants to bet it'll basically be the exact same as Rathamanti's colour-scheme? I don’t think so, what with the heretical Army Painter paint :D

My WiP-blog is this one: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334362-emperors-spears-wip-army-log/page-3?do=findComment&comment=4902507 And my recipe for Spear blue is: 1. Prime with Army Painter Crystal Blue spray paint. 2. All over wash with 50/50 Lahmian medium/Drakenhof Nightshade. Remove pooling wash with a brush, and then wipe the whole model very gently with no pressure with toilet paper, while the wash is still wet. 3. Drybrush the whole thing with AP Crystal Blue normal paint. 4. Edge highlight with Lothern Blue 5. Fine edge highlight with Fenrisian Blue. You're using basically the same colours as me, Crystal Blue is Army Painter's equivalent to GW's Caledor Sky ;) Yes, but Caledor Sky doesn’t come as a nice spray paint :)

Information provided by ADB himself. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/334362-emperors-spears-wip-army-log/page-3?do=findComment&comment=4902507 Oppps! Someone beat me to it. Does anyone have the paints needed to paint the right color blue? Caledor Sky and Lothern Blue that Gederas mentioned might work but I'm curious if anyone had any other recipes. Also, thank you to everyone that pointed out I could still order this on the Black Library website. I'll be checking in again on the 7th and ordering my copy if they are still available. I’m so nervous. It’s silly! Would stuff normally go up for sale at noon local time? Or Nottingham time for all of Western Europe?

New info from A D-B on his blog! https://aarondembskibowden.wordpress.com/2018/11/20/spear-of-the-emperor-the-intro/

They were described as such repeatedly at the Weekender; Aaron gave that reason for his being on the Ultramarines panel. Also, I guess that settles it, then! That’s what I thought to begin with. Their somewhat savage nature and their kneepads threw me off...

This feels like some kind of pleasant torture... When will we be able to buy this, damnit?! I am intensely curious as to whether we get some hint at the spear’s parent legion. But I take it, it isn’t revealed in book 1... I really hope the chapter will play some kind of prominent role in the future developments of general 40k lore (if nothing else, so we will be able to buy more transfer sheets..). That A D-B is working on the second volume promises well! I feel like I chose the right chapter for my army...

Here: Thank you very much! It is beautiful! I cannot wait... what’s on the cards?

I probably have just misunderstood something, but I thought the book would be available at the Black Library Weekender. I can’t find any info or pictures. Does anybody know what’s up?

ADB on Facebook: “The Limited Edition is available at the Black Library Weekender in a couple of months. That's all I know for sure!” Does anybody know if there’s sort of a fixed timeframe between a book being made available at a weekender and when everybody else gets the chance? Or is that totally different from release to release?
-
Aw, that’s too bad. I thought he was giving us a little preview :)
-
I don’t think anybody knows. Except for the fact that it is sometime this year... By the way, we have gotten our first book cover tease via A D-B’s Facebook... That is clearly a Spear marine with his blue armour and white helm. Unfortunately It seems he is in the process of exploding or being eaten by yellow goo.

So close (maybe)!

A D-B mentioned a couple of things about how they look in my Emperor’s Spears army log: - The First Company has the trident marking on their helmets, like in my avatar. A lot of them also have it tattooed on their faces, in red or white ink. -All kinds of skin tones, go nuts.
