  1. As the topic states, has there been any news regarding the talked about imperial militia army list? GW said it was supposed to come with the last Imperium book as a free download, but still nothing? I would really like to run my Vostroyans as militia again and to see whether survivors of the dark age is still a thing so I can get some land raiders for them...
  2. I ended up getting the starter, liber astartes, 1 rhino (already running 2 mars patterns), 1 kratos (OMG its so hot) and the heavy weapon and special weapon sets. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the releases.
  3. I donno I would think it would be sooner. Especially when they start releasing the rumoured campaign books starting with istvaan.
  4. Revell Contacta Professional is my go to for YEARS now. It does the job extremely well.
  5. Okay so I have finally gotten back into heresy (and as a result this forum. I missed you guys ). So I invested in the new plastics and I must say I am impressed. The rules are also epic and definitely what I missed. Now my biggest question is does anyone have any leads on Mk II marines? Because they are obviously the best... Also I kinda need to make a 2nd legion now as I have waaaay too many marines.
  6. Really nice work there. I look forward to him falling before the walls of Terra :D
  7. Let them paint themselves yellow. Everyone knows they always wished they were Imperial Fists anyway.
  8. I dont know hey. I always use missile launchers. They are great for taking out everything from hordes to vehicles. Everything has its place, but I find missile launchers are usually the best all round heavy weapon especially if you dont know what you will be facing.
  9. The centurion. Mostly thanks to lord adorable :P
  10. I always recommend to first get acquainted with the lore and various army backgrounds. Space marines are a solid choice for a starter as they are pretty easy to learn with. Always go vanilla, ie ultramarines, imperial fists, salamanders etc. They are easiest to start with and you can branch off with them at a later date. When you learn a bit more and have more games under your belt, you might find yourself leaning more towards what you REALLY want to collect, be it orks, tyranids, guard, eldar etc, and by that time you should have enough experience to do it properly. I suggest to buy one of the starter sets and just start playing. The models there are more than enough to learn and have fun with, without being too expensive to sell off later or just put it aside to get your true army.
  11. This is definitely true. Surprisingly, the current city terrain tiles work well even with the old 54mm minis.
  12. Thats actually a pretty sweet model.
  13. Im pretty sure I saw that model somewhere a few weeks ago, but I cannot for the life of me remember where...
  14. Yeah I also just put on some youtube in the background while painting and it helps a lot. Also dont let perfection ruin it. Anyone who has seen my painting will know that I go for simplistic realism very similar to forgeworld. Its actually easier to paint than what GW advocates, believe it or not. No highlighting, no gradual tones etc. Just use more realistic colours, paint over blacks and metallics and weather. Its fast, looks great and its easy to do. As for flesh tones, they are actually easy. My method is as follows: Prime black Paint the first layer depending on the skin colour (the richest tanned or caucasian colour for white guys, dark brown for black guys or a rich tan for indian.) When it dries either wash it with nuln oil or earth shade, depending on if you want a dirty grimy look or a more pronounced, but cleaner shade. Then do a very fine highlight of a bright colour than you used as your base. Dont go overboard here. Very very fine. No need to do eyes, mouths etc as this method accentuates it and it looks great even upon close inspection and on the board it looks brilliant.
