Ornithology
Hi Folks,
I did not plan painting my scourges right now, yet I couldn't help but starting them, mainly for lack of primer rattlecan: I cannot prime anything ang the spures of the scourges were already primed a while ago (Once upon time in a Realm far far away...).
If I set back the true reason of getting these scourge I can list 2 which arrive close at the end of the race:
1. Getting spare parts for kit bashing COrsairs from Guardians body: Special weapons and Carabines are perfect for this purpose.
2. Getting an flying/deep striking heavy weapon squad, or 2, one being more anti-tank and the second one more anti-MEQ. This will hold as long as the Index will be a thing. As getting Scourges into an Ynnari force, which was the paln one year ago, has already ceased to be a thing .
So, where to start with Scourge? These Haemonculii modified Drukhari show wings from various origins which leaves room for a little bit of imagination, trying out various schemes in the squad.
Here are my first attempts and test models:
- The first test I did: Game Colour's Night Blue, base of the feathers darlned with black ink and dry brushes with Thunderhawk blue and Ulthuan grey. I had the hand too heavy and results looks more grey than blue.
- I wanted some blue, so I gave up the final dry brusj and I cleaned the brush better. This type of feathers is however not that blue but more purple. This Night BLue was bought in order to paint the KT Night Lord squad. I wonder if it will fit that good finally...
- A Space vampire set of wings. XV88 dry brushed with Kislev flesh and Wraithbone. Red skin is correcte from the dirty blood red covered of dry brushed colours with DakkaDakak red and then an old reference that may correspond to this bright red used to make blood spits.
- And then 2 sets of wings for my Solarites. My first one goes with grey feathers from dry brushed Mechanicum grey with ends in reds and black. The second Solarite will be with red devilish wings, obtained by a king od Slap chop method cleared by dry brushed Fuegan Orange (very very subtle and light...)
This leads me to a series of wings I still ahve to complete with one or two additional schemes so that the 2 x 5 squad members will get a nice variety without being all different. May be some more natural wings based on browns?
See you soon with more progress on my chickens (beware of their HW...)
