The Bloodied Fist, Tyrant of Ka-Sil
Warleader Fingil Bloodfist was one of the most infamous and feared commanders that the 4th Household ever had. After he proclaimed himself Chapter Master of the Marines Adamant, his fellow Warleaders revolted, turning their weapons against him in a brutal assassination attempt.
Though Fingil lost his grip on the position of Warlord, his bloody-minded stubbornness kept him clinging to life. Unbeknownst to the rest of the Chapter, the Iron and Flesh Wyrds of the 4th Household had his remains interred within the sarcophagus of a mighty Leviathan Dreadnought. In the millennia since, Bloodfist has continued to act as an advisor to his successors, and as an unbreakable and immovable bulwark at the centre of the Household's battle line.
So, as you might guess, Fingil Bloodfist (mentioned in the Marines Adamant IA in the Articles section) is my counts-as Bjorn the Fell-Handed. Obviously, a Leviathan is substantially bigger than a Castraferrum, but I definitely thought he deserved an upgrade! (and I'm not likely to be playing in any tournaments any time soon, so that's not an issue)
However, I thought I'd try to give him a more action-y pose, with the added advantage that it keeps the model lower to the ground and thereby slightly closer to the outline of the official Bjorn.
I wanted to do twin claws, as I'd always imagined Fingil as being in some sort of Ironclad-pattern dread, but of course Bjorn has a big gun as well as a claw. Hence the shoulder mounted cannon, which is a spare from the Contemptor I got for another project a few years ago, plus a few random bits to make the mount. I'm using Volkite as counts-as Helfrost in this army, ice guns don't make sense if you're not from Fenris! Then two claws = Trueclaw, and the heavy flamer is body mounted rather than on the arm. The barrels of the built-in arm meltas will be filled in. Voila, a weapons loadout that should be close enough to Bjorn's!
In other related news, it's my wedding anniversary this weekend, and look at the score I got in pressies from my beautiful, kind and patient missus!
The Marines Adamant armoured contingent is growing nicely!
Anyway, as always thanks for looking, and anyone who wants to add a comment, please do! (I’m using a Blog rather than a Forum thread, but that's just because it's the way things seem to be going, not because I don't want to hear what people think!)
