Game Overview

Round 1

Necrons turn 1 - Aggressive deployment; Sorpekh Lord/squad were able to Infiltrate due to gaining Advantage, so they pushed up hard on the right side and killed off an Intercessor squad in melee. Heavy Destroyers managed to kill off the servo-turret and the Triarch Stalker put a couple of wounds into the Redemptor and then charged it to no effect.

Ultramarines turn 1 - SM push up with the second Intercessor squad on the left, covering their two remaining Eliminators and putting down a half-squad of Lychguard. Redemptor and Infernus squad take down a few Skorpekh. The Redemptor does a few wounds to the Stalker, but melee is largely a wash between the two war machines.

Round 2

Necrons turn 2 - Skorpekh move up and delete the Infernus squad, while the Lychguard Reanimate and use their Res Orb to come back to nearly full life. Heavy Destroyers miss their attempt to kill off the Redemptor, but melee combat with the Stalker for the third round again is inconclusive.

Ultramarines turn 2 - Titus and his Assault Intercessors in the middle of the Ultra deployment charge and kill off the Stalker. Shots from the Redemptor kill more Skorpekh, leaving the Lord alone.

Round 3

Necrons turn 3 - Triarch Praetorians come down in the center of the battlefield, along with the Skorpekh Lord they charge and kill off Titus and the Assault Intercessors.

Ultramarines turn 3 - Last gasp from the Ultras to try to kill off the Lychguard, while also doing their Agenda action (Recover Blackstone Data).

Round 4/5

Remaining rounds consist of Necrons holding their positions while trying to keep the Skorpekh Lord, Overlord, and Deathmarks hidden (To the Last targets). Skorpekh Lord manages to sneak by with 1 Wound left. Ultras manage to Recover twice total.

Thoughts

The mission definitely favored me, as I was able to get both Advantage (one infantry unit gets Infiltrate but can't be on an objective) and Attacker. Since my army is heavily melee based, getting my Skorpekh in position for a turn 1 charge was devastating. They were able to roll up the right flank of the enemy and completely collapse that side. My Lychguard again showed how tough they were, surviving a ton of shots from double-tapping Intercessors and just holding on to the center of the battlefield. We move up to 1250 points next week and I'm up against Aeldari. While having the Transcendent C'tan in the army might be good, I'm planning on holding off until 1.5k and taking a second unit of both the Triarch units (Stalker/Praetorians) to give me a lot of board presence. We'll see how it goes!
