Long overdue update

It's definitely been a while since I've posted to the blog, looks like about six months since my last one. In that time my hobby time has been fairly limited until recently, when in an effort to get things back on track I signed up to this years Call to arms to motivate me to get the Aeldari that have been sitting on my desk for ages painted and battle ready.  As with my Tau last year I gave myself a sizable challenge, with over 50 models to paint. We now have only a few weeks left and I'm a bit behind schedule, in last years challenge I was all but done with my Tau at this point, so I need to concentrate over the next few weekends. I a bored moment at work I created a spreadsheet to track my progress:

As you can see I'm currently over 50% in terms of points worth, but only at a third in terms of actual models. Here's the ones I have completed so far:

In the midst of this painting frenzy I even managed a game of 40k against my old friend and long term opponent, pitting my Tau against his tank heavy Astra Millitarium. Fortunately for me the table set up and the deployment for the battle strongly favoured me with his baneblade barely able to move and my numerous Infiltration units meaning he was effectively surrounded before the battle had even begun. This along with some decent dice rolls on my part for once meant the battle was relatively short lived with my opponent conceding after turn 2 when his baneblade died to my rail guns in spectacular fashion taking 3 other units of his with it.

Realising how rusty we both were a second game was organised, which I decided would be an ideal outing for my Imperial knights and so the painting of the Aeldari got put on the back burner whilst Painted up Canis Rex and an Armiger Moirax in preperation. Unfortunately the second game did not happen due to a confusion on dates, but will hopefully materialise soon.

As always there have been miniatures for my other armies painted along the way, I had two squads of Eradicators I had finished before starting on the Eldar and managed to pick up Captain Centos along with an Execrator (to be used as a normal chaplain) from my nearest GW store, both of which I felt compelled to paint immediately.PXL_20250817_143901210.jpg.7e3e59755d1ee40f64e5469f2eb1679f.jpgPXL_20250817_143946104.jpg.fe610658bd4026f608436f1b4948854b.jpgPXL_20250817_143655337.jpg.1ad307d438fd150f923426cc9d93b6a0.jpg

This dark Apostle also manged to jump the painting queue.

Hopefully my next update will be fairly soon showing my complete Call to Arms vow...... possibly.
