Following the foiling of the poison plot by the Salamanders the Death Guard Garrison launched a counter offensive aimed at crippling the Salamanders while they focused on re arming.

The space port of Vorkroosha was targeted by bombardment prior to several strike forces being deployed to eliminate the structures of key landing and cargo storage depots. 

Salamanders Turn 1

The rhinos containing veteran squads advanced up the centre of the board before dropping off their cargo, the squads opened fire turning the lead grave warden into molten slag. On the flanks tactical squads cautiously advanced firing upon their death guard opposites.

Death Guard Turn 1

The death guards tactical squads surged forward firing as they went , on the left flank the tactical marines were unable to find their mark only causing minimal casualties. Their brothers on the right flank however blasted the enemy unit causing them to fall back to the cover of the ruined crane. The Grave warden terminators targeted the lead veteran squad slaying few. The contemptor dreadnought unloaded its melta cannons upon the closest rhino causing it to explode killing multiple veterans, it then charged into the lead veteran squad trading wound for wound. The volkite support squad hosed down the other veteran squad but failed to cause any injury.

Salamanders Turn 2

The right hand tactical squad rallied and immediately returned fire on the tactical squad that had sent them running causing a sole wound. On the left hand side of the battlefield the veteran and tactical squad opened fire on the death guard tactical squad leaving the sgt as the sole survivor. Combat between the dreadnought continued slowly with both sides taking equal wounds again.

Death Guard Turn 2

The Death Guard Sgt surged forward before unloading his alchem pistol on the tac squad melting three marines, the volkite support squad turned their weapons to the squad blasting them clear of the objective and wiping them out. The Grave Warden terminators lumbered forward unleashing their fog spewers and grenade launchers upon the unengaged veteran squad killing half its number and sending them running. The followed up with a charge wiping them unit out in combat and consolidating closer to the surviving veteran squad. The contemptor lost its final wound exploding in a blast of radiation and shrapnel, the blast killed the death Guard Centurion and did enough wounds to the surviving veteran squad to cause them to flee off the board.

Salamanders Turn 3

With the destruction of the majority of their force the surviving Salamanders surrendered the field to the Deathguard
