Bits, Prints, and Progress
In my last blog post I talked a bit about the inspiration for this project and the main theme, which is treating the new Mark X armour as just the next stage in power armour development without needing to involve Primaris Marines.
With that in mind, I’ve started raiding the bits box and digging into my stash of 3D-printed parts to come up with a test model for the project. The plan is to use standard Mk X Tacticus armour for the basic squads, and then mix in parts from older armour marks for veterans and characters.
Squad loadouts will be built with Grimdark Future in mind, since that’s the system I’ll be using going forward.
Anyway, here’s the Lieutenant kitbash I’ve put together.
It’s a fairly simple conversion. I swapped out the power pack for a Mk VII version, used a 3D-printed helmet, and added some of the new Mk III shoulder pads. I still need to improve my edge highlighting. It looks fine in person, but doesn’t photograph quite as well. I’ll also go back and add some weathering powder to help tie the model into the base.
Hobby time is going to be a bit limited over the next few months since there’s still a lot to do with the new house. One of the bigger plans is to convert part of the garage into a proper hobby space so I can finally have everything in one place. Hopefully that means I’ll also be able to put together some gaming boards and get a few games in once things settle down.
Looking forward to sharing more progress soon, and as always, let me know what you think.
