Skull Brethren Part 1: The Ship of Theseus
Hello followers of the Dark Gods! I have been a World Eaters Player since, I want to say 1998., so almost 30 years. Over the years I have bought, sold and traded for models. My warband has gone through many name changes, The Blood Vultures (When my warband used an ungodly amount of raptors) The Crimson Butchers (When my warband was a Chaos Soup army, with daemons and Traitor Guard units) and now we have settle on The Skull Brethren for 9th, 10th and probably 11th edition. The army has ballooned and shrunk in size but has always kept one core theme for the most part in check. Khorne Berzerkers in Rhinos.
The Rhinos are the old the models in my force. I believe some of these date back from the original 2002 release of the updated rhino kit. I did have some of the old 1999 rhinos back in the day, but when the new rhino kit came out I replace them.
Now of course we aren't World Eaters without Khorne Berzerkers, This group is called the Black Talons. I call them that because I painted the "winged" bits black on there powerpacks. Like the Rhinos. I had the old 1999 Khorne Berzerkers models. They came in boxes of 12, and I think I had 48 berzerkers at one point. That is also not including all of the aspiring champions and icon bearers.
Another batch of 10 Khorne Berzerkers, these guys have red "winged" powerpacks so they are called the Crimson Butchers. A call back to my old warband's name. When the Khorne Berzerker kit got updated back in 2023, I think every World Eaters player had that moment of dread. All of there berzerkers were either going to be replace or look tiny compared to the big, newer boys. But like anything, you bite the bullet and replaced them. I do love the new berzerkers. If I had to change one thing, it would be more options for the unit champions.
I still have another 20 Khorne Berzerkers on the grey legion shelf of my book case, so more berzerkers are coming. If you want to know more of the fluff side of the my warband. Please check out Index Astartes: Skull Brethren
Until next time...
