1st Entry: Terminators!

Hello Fraters,

I was going to start a thread in the WIP Forum, but this seemed like a good opportunity to try out the Blog feature. I've not done this before so we'll see how it goes!

So, I've got the Leviathan box Space Marines, which will be painted as Celebrants Chapter. (I've got a Hall of Honour thread here for already finished units) I want to try to convert and add bits to make all of the units a bit different from the stock minis, so expect plenty of kitbashes, green stuff and lots and lots of bonding studs!

My first unit is the amazing Terminators! They are simply beautiful minis, and I can't wait to get some paint of these guys!

As you can see, I've made a few changes. Extra studs, cut a DW Chainfist up and added the blade to one of the fists. Biggest change was the Sgt. I knew I wasn't planning on using the TDA Captain to lead the army (already got a plan for that) and that I wanted to make the Squad Sgt a bit more blinged out. So, lost the Captain's fancy base, swapped out arms and head with the regular Sgt's, and voila! A proper Veteran Sgt Squad Leader!

Anyway, that'll do for my first blog post! C+C always very welcome!

Looking great, especially those studs. I appreciate them being judiciously used, rather than just entirely covering the squad with them. I'm about to do some similar kitbashing with my own set. Good to see the chest eagles come off cleanly.

Any trouble getting the alternate heads in? Haven't had a chance to dig in and check if they need a neck-swap to fit in cleanly.

Thanks! Yeah, the studs are a feature of the one official pic of the Chapter, but I didn't want to overdo it either.

I'd definitely recommend if you're taking the eagles off, do it before you put anything together, much easier to get a clean finish?

The heads I've used are all from Leviathan so I knew they'd fit, but I think any others would work ok too? Only thing is it's a flat bottom, so most Marine heads would need the 'ball' that normally fits into the neck socket cut off (if that makes sense?)
