What´s hidden underneath my Pile of Shame? Tiny Marines!

I dunnot plan playing the resurected version of EPIC set in the HH. I must focus, Or at least it is one of my aims. Largely influenced by my wife´s "encouragments", but this is another story.

I dunnot plan playing the resurected version of EPIC set in the HH, but it does not mean that the 6mm scale, a.k.a. EPIC, is totaly unknown from me.

Deep bellow my pile of shame, in the tailing end of the scoring board structuring priorities of what shall be painted, lie some small boxes on Epic Model. 3 in fact, plus some rules.
I will only focus today on 2 of these, the SM related ones.

They are full of models that never really received any treatment they would have deserved. Right after gathering these models, the interrest in EPIC in my gaming group (decades ago) vanished. And I have been stopped in my painting project. I was planning an UM army so some spots of blue may be ssen on a couple of test models within the Rhinos and LR (very old hammer colour scheme with red weapons). But it never went further.

I feel like it is time to resume this painting. I am a little bit afraid: it is a lot of tiny marines, just make your own opinion.

I also have 2 titans, one Reaver and one Warlord. The latter is quite damage and will need some serious repairs, butt he Reaver (Armorcast style) is still a galant boy.

I am in the process of thinking of legion colours. I guess I will be unfaithful to my SM. I am a little bit fed up of the grey.

I am thinking into some Imperial Fists may be. Yellow and hybrid Yellow and black patterns can be nice. I will however need some 000 brushes and a lot of patience. The brushes is the easy part.

For patiences, well new year and good resolutions are coming soon, aren´t they? And I already have a magnifier mounted on articulaet arm. Time to fiidn some use for this stuf.

As for the supporting Titans colours, some red scheme maybe... To have someting contrasting.

Any advices or suggetsions?

And now, just to be sure my mantra will govern my mind (compulsive buyer) wallet in free wheel: I dunnot plan playing the resurected version of EPIC set in the HH*, but I can´t stand letting these chunks of plastic raw.

See you soon with some tests models maybe.

* the models are probably too small now anyway and rebasing them is not an option I am ready to consider**.

** and, NO, I will not look for MDF laser cut adaptators on Ebay.

You could try using some contrast paints. Yellow contrast over a white or bone spraycoat would make batch painting them pretty easy, and then you’ve just got to pick out the guns.

I had the Epic 40K box set back in 1997 and made the mistake of painting them in a stupidly complex colour scheme that involved white, yellow, purple and red. Never again lol

For the titans, you could go really old school:

Indeed. I already charged a pot of Yellow contrast (Imperial Fist yellow looks appropriate) and I will go on a Wraithbone equivalent base coat.

I will try to add some "variety" painting some specifi solttas in blak with yellow pads and heads such as Termis and assault squad - to mimic some schemes displayed in HH books for example.

As for vehicles, well I will probably use lateral bands such as on Death gaurd vehicles, but using black, red or white. Officers vehicles and command ones might be a little bit more elaborated, trying some checkers pattern o rhinos top hatches maybe. I will have to think about it. In the end it might eventually end up being discriminated only with decals...

These Reavers patterns are more or less what I have in mind. Except I ill try not to paint so many chevrons and stripes on the top casket. Keeping these to more accessible legs maybe...
