A bit of backstory

Though called the “Children of the Golden Kingdom” the Imperium refers to them as “Heathens.” According to Imperial records, they are renegades, mostly human, who are enemies & traitors to the Imperium of Man. They not only deny the divinity of the god Emperor, but they also proclaim him to be a liar. Not much is known about them & any records that even mention them or any members associated with them at all are to be purged.

In truth, they are the latest incarnation of Christian crusaders in their war against evil. While Christianity had been suppressed by the Emperor, it was never fully eradicated & in their darkest hour, many were ferried to the mysterious world of Eden which orbited a golden star on the fringes of the Milky Way galaxy. There they remained untouched by the Imperium of Mankind for more than 10,000 years. When the Imperium did arrive they were only able to colonize a small continent of land. Attempts by the Imperium to conquer the planet were met with failure after humiliating failure, though not always at the hands of the native population. It was said that the world itself stood against the Imperium’s conquest as their war machines would suffer catastrophic malfunctions, wild beasts would harass their soldiers & after a time, a creature thought to be a demon prince appeared. According to the natives, Eden only retaliated as violently as it was attacked, something the Imperium refuses to corroborate.

Though initially neutral, in recent years Ordo Celestia, the Ordos militant of the Golden Kingdom, has begun a campaign across the galaxy, though they do not always engage in violence. Their holy crusade is said to be sanctioned by their god, the one true God, who they claim dictates their actions in this campaign. Most often the Ordo come to the defense of those who request it, but they have conquered some worlds on orders from God. They are not always successful & those imperial forces & citizens whom they aid are punished by the Imperium, often with death. Knowing this, the forces of Ordo Celestia will try to convert those they aid, in hopes of helping them avoid such a fate. However, the Kingdom’s beliefs are not forced upon anyone & accepting their aid & faith is always presented as a choice for each individual.
