Eden, the Promised Land
The world of Eden has a long & storied history. It is said that it has existed since the dawn of time & over its extensive history, it has been conquered & reconquered many times. Sometime before the Great Crusade, a large number of humans built giant colony ships called Arks & were ferried to Eden, where they led a year long campaign against the Aeldari (Craftworld & Dark) & Orkz. The war was long & arduous, but when it was over, the world was given to the humans (called the Children of God) & the star which Eden orbited became a brilliant golden color.
For nearly 10,000 years Eden remained untouched by the Imperium, though it had suffered various attacks from other factions. It wasn’t until the 41st millennium that the Imperium came to & began attempting to colonize Eden. The inhabitants were peaceful at first, but when the Imperium became aggressive, the inhabitants fought back. The Imperium made several attempts to destroy them, but each was thwarted in miraculous ways. The Imperium even attempted to exterminatus Eden, only for that to fail as well.
When a mysterious creature appeared, one that was thought to be a demon prince, the Grey Knights of Ordo Malleus were called in to destroy it. Led by captain Abram, a small army of Grey Knights landed on Eden to confront this “demon prince” & make way for the Imperium to conquer the world. The creature declared itself an angel of the “One True God” & warned the Knights that any aggression would be met with destructive force. It also told Abram that he would be the new leader of the order militant of Eden, forsaking the Imperium, a notion that angered him. Abram attempted to attack the angel, only to be punched in the stomach by the angel, causing him to drop his sword & shield.
Those who raised their weapons against the angel were slain in a single slash of its sword, while those who surrendered were spared. Abram was then taken before the throne of God, where he received his mission. He was to return to Terra, take his wife Sarai, a Sister of Silence, bed her & she would produce a child, his child. Abram was skeptical of course, since Astartes are infertile, but he was simply told to have faith & it would be made so. Abram did as he was told & Sarai became pregnant, giving birth to Abram’s son, the first “scion of light.”
