Braphegor, WIP Herald of Khorne

This conversion is based on a very old Citadel Miniatures Minotaur sculpt. I began working on this model in 1991, starting by using a soldering iron and other tools to convert the club that the miniature originally came with to a primitive sword/cleaver. I then glued the model to a Flintstones stamp that came in a box of breakfast cereal, adding dirt and rocks to give him stability. I forget what the original base coat was, though it appears to have been something white. Horror upon horrors, the original layers of paint appear to have been glossy model paints, most likely from Testors. The fleshy areas were painted some fleshy tone (something along the lines of the current Elf Flesh) and the hairy parts were painted in a glossy black.

I've begun work on updating the miniature to a suitably daemonic entity. For the Arena of Death at Games Day Los Angeles, I developed the mini as a Herald of Khorne. This was primarily because monstrous creatures aren't allowed in the AoD, preventing the model from being used as a Daemon Prince. The choice of using him as a Herald of Khorne drove the subsequent use of red ink for the flesh. You can't tell from the picture, but the left hand has been drilled out for the addition of a whip-type weapon (representing the Death Strike ability).

Obviously, I need to add some details in order to make the miniature suitably "40kish", as right now it is more appropriate for WHFB. One of the things I'm considering is converting the back to appear as a Chaos Space Marine backpack, complete with the exhaust pods. I'm also considering hacking up some Chaos Space Marine minis and taking bits of the armour, adding them to the Minotaur's body in order to make it look as if he's a former Chaos Space Marine that, through the gifts of his Dark God (Khorne), has ascended to the rank of daemon prince. Alternately, I might simply add some appropriate WH40K trophies.

My current character concept is that he was a Minotaur from a fantasy-type world who, through the blessings of Khorne, has become a Herald of the Brass God. He now fights in the daemonic legions, leading other daemons of Khorne in Black Crusades.
