I still need to make 3 more( just a little taped for ideas at the moment though).

So here they are!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!

Okay got hit by the insperation thunderbolt so went to work.

Since the squad has so many "Action" poses going on i thought mabye just some dynamic standing around just my add to the over all look of the squad.

So with that in mind I present Assault troopers Ig and Ook

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0488.jpg

Then I had to go back to massive movement. So here is Assault trooper "look out I tripped!" Teddy.

Just a reminder, these are still WIP's, final cleaning and GSing is still needed. Plus these are not the final heads I plan on using on these guys, waiting for bits order to get here.

Once agin Comments(especaly high praise and drooling!) and criticism(just better keep that to yourself <_< ) always welcome!

LOL!

That's one of the most original things I have ever saw and it looks amazing. <_<

Thanks Druss!

Ohh Blamb, thanks for your comment. They are ment to be very high for a reason. Since i haev so may hyper dynamic poses going on that stick quite far off the base, I figured it would help to be able to get some bases close together without actually piling models ontop of each other, or scraping on each other and dammaging paint.

See I was working for coolness factor and practicality!

hahahaha

LOL Rabid! Yes they will draw lots of fire im sure.. but I will also have a Dread, 2 terminator squads, 2 land speeders, a razorback and 28 troop's for them to shoot at.

I will also try to cover them as much as possible to let them get the charge off.

Very dynamic, though those guys must cause some transportation headaches!

BL

LOL! I have no idea yet how much trouble they will be to transport. I havent even decided on a case for them yet let alown started cutting foam!

I may get a secound Sabot Army transport, I like it and its light. Or I might get a Chessex hard cade, the new big box ones, not the older single layer flat ones. I did see a cool looking CD case at Best buy the other day. Looked pretty big supposed to hold like 500 CD's and was a hard metel case, not sure if it would be big enough though( but I did have a neat Idea of getting some of those forgeworld brass Eagles to put on it though).

Quick Little Update!

Took a couple of shots of my army so far from 3-4 feet away.

they are a little blury and washed out due to the flash. Not enough lite here in my room at the moment.

Still they are more to show the sense of motion than fine detail.

I will let you guys be the judges...

I still get to be the Executioner though!

hehehe

Overhead veiw.

Blurry and washed out, but what the hell.

I am now down to 2 Tac squads and a Dev squad left to build.

22 more models, then I get to start painting!

EEK i forgot i need to build 2 speeders too..Man and they are such a pain in the patootie! I do have a cool idea for them though. Need to start cutting some plasticard and get to work on them.

;)

As always.. keep your damm negitive comments to yourselves!

LOL!

:tu:

I was just debating color scheme in my head. I think they will be primed white. then a wash coat of thinned down fortress grey. Next I will paint all the cables silver. then the entire model will get a covering of Tamyia Smoke( a alchohal based paint that is basicly a black wash but leaves a shiny coat). Then I will do trim and eagles in red(or black not sure yet). Eyes will be blue unless I go with black trim then they will be red. add some highlights and im set to go with a great tabletop paint job( I think I could paint a Golden Deamon class paintjob[not is Bolty, Remorse or DV8's caliber though]) but I truley dont have that kind of paitence.

Tanks are my biggest hassle, smart me for taking some.

:D

The barrel guy is my fav. :D Now get them painted man.

I like the barrel guy too. I had this great flash of insperation for him just from the epicast base. you cant see it, but the base have a 5 gallon fuel container half buired in it(like you see on the back of a jeep). So I thought wouldnt it look cool with this barrel I had over it like it was part of a abandoned fuel dump.

So I glued the barrel down and pinned the legs to it and off I went trying to make the pose just right.

I guess even I cant see the forrest through the trees sometimes though, he is in almost exactly the same position as my dual chainsword guy. Who was 8 inches away while I made this one.

I will try to get a better pic of the barrel guy to show you.

Okay on to painting. I wont begin painting this army until I have it fully completed. So I still need to make a 6 Man Dev squad, 2 8 man tac squads and 2 speeders. depending on how I feel later, I think I will begin on the 2 speeders tonight. I have a cool idea in my head for them(losely based on one of Hobbes creations).

Since I plan on having every model customized in some bit, the 22 troopers will take a bit to do. At the moment I only have a cool Idea for a single Missle launcher guy.

;)

BTW, thanks for your nice comments Joker!

InK

Here are some comparision shots of the two minis i was talking about before and a close up on the base. its still hard to see (cause nows its covered buy a barrel! LOL).

In this first pic you can see the orginal pin hole, where this is and the angle of the hole I drilled made this guy almost pointing straight out.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0498.jpg

Now the Comparision shots

I repositioned Tripping Teddy(barrel guy) to place him at a higher angle than 2 Sword McGee, after I initaly saw that they were to close in pose. Their pose is still really close, but Teddy at least now points in a diffrent direction(even if it is only a few deggres).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nic...es/DSCN0501.jpg

you do know that a marine swinging on a lightpost like a wild gorilla is likely to be classified as a "navigational hzard" to passing traffic do you?

the guy weighs half a ton and goes off doing morning gymnastics like that.

Lighposts WERE harmed in the creation of this squad :)

The guy "stood" on the lamp post thing...how's his jump pack attached? (There's no straps over his chest. GS some on).

LOL I noticed that myself. I grabbed the wrong sprue when I was building him. I will more than likely just pop his arms and backpack off then pop the torso and give him a proper assault squad torso. easyer for me to do than make some crummy half @&&ed job of making straps hehehe.

I'm still looking at pics, but I love that "bullet time" beakie in the pictures of the first post. That's a very good pose for him.

After seeing your terminators and now your assault marines, I have to say your entire army is definitely going to look intimidating from the other side of the table. I want to do something similar if I ever get a lot of money to buy some Marines with; I want to use a lot of dynamic poses and scenery to make my army stand out.

Until then, I guess I'll live through your models. :)

Thanks Darrel thats nice of you to say.

If you want a little advice, go get yourself a basic troop box set, 10 guys for 35 dollars I think. They are all plastic. Now comes the real hard part(especaly if you have a limited budget) cut and pin and glue like a mad man. make the wildest posses you can think of, pay no attention to gravity, physics or even the voice in your head that is saying STOP that looks stupid! After doing this you will get a great sense of the motion you can create with just a few well placed cuts. Heck the two assault guys Ig and Ook that are just standing there, still give you the sense of motion just with simple conversion work. like making legs that are supposed to be in motion look like they are standing still.

One other thing. Personaly I build 1850 Tourney Armys, I try to come up with a fluff idea for the army imediately after chosing the army I want to build. So say you want to build a chaos army. pick the god you want to be dedicated to(if at all) and over all type of army(shooty, assault, etc.) Now come up with a name for your HQ choise, now you have your army and lord, make up some fluff of why he is leading this particular army. With all this you should be able to come up with some basic theme for your army.. dod you like it? Stick to it! this will help you imensly whenyou are trying to build and paint an entire army.

I have a fluffy theme for my army based on Urban Assault. So when I am customizing a model I take that into account, this helps me focus and make the best guy I can( then throw in almost 30 years of painting, building, playing games).

Anyway back to saying good things about me, I have posted some pics of my new speedere in progress. Go take a peek if you want.

  • 1 month later...

First off, let me say that I think your work is quite good, and that the poses are fresh and look quite good. I won't go into details like the lack of chest belts and such that others have already covered. I like the dynamic looks of the units and think that unless you do a truely horrible job with painting, you're going to end up with a lovely army on the table to play with.

Myself, I don't much care for that much dynamism to my army. Especially when it makes packing and transporting them harder. But I do like to see innovative ideas expressed in plastic and metal. Keep up the good work and KNOW that you're going to have an army that will get lots of envious looks at the tables.
