capt.nuss
This is supposed to be my first batrep for the B&C, after all my first all in all... My chapter 'tears of medusa' has its painting thread here As the thread says, i played against tau - an enemy i always found hard to beat, especially with their new codex. We played 1000 points and the fouth mission in the rulebook, where u have to make it into the enemys deployment area. This was the table... a ruined city on an abandoned planet, as it seemed.... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/thefield.jpg My list for this game can be found here. It was supposed to be fluffy..... The Tau List was as far as i can remember the following: - tau commander with experimental weapons and drones - 2 x 6 fire warriors - scouts with transporter - 2 x 3 crisis suits, one team with plasma, the other with missiles - hunting drone team - coloss - sky ray After i lost the rolls for setup und side choice, the units were placed... I tried to get as much cover as possible, but would that be enough against the heavy tau weaponry? http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/thesetup.jpg The dice roll for the first turn was lost for the marines on a 1 compared to a 6 for the xenos... so they had the initiative, the will, and the firepower.. :) Turn 1 Tau The tau started a swift advance on the right flank and used the markerlights from the scouts, which had settled into a ruin short before the battle, to concentrate their fire on one tac. squad. In a plasma surprise fire without example they melted through servo armor, wiping out the whole squad. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau1.jpg the tau advance... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau1advance.jpg Marines After that demonstration of xeno power, the men around Captain Venorum hungered for revenge. The stormtroopers advanced as fast a possible and the other brothers prepared to return fire. Still in surprise, only venerable dreadnought 'Stompy' hit his targets perfectly, bringing two plasma crisis down. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/sm1.jpg Turn 2 Tau The foul xenos went on with their sinister plan. After the tau commander had located the position of the marine dreadnought he directed his minions to concentrate on him. A number of indirect laser guided missiles hit hard, but only the last salvo was able to penetrate the holy adamantine armor plates... The last plasma crisis was not fleeing as one could expect, but firing his weaponry towards the remaining tactical squad killing exactly the lasercannon bearer. The rest of the tau army fired round after round at the advancing jumppack squad taking out 5 of 7. The remaining two got the 'order to retreat' by Captain Venorum, who was not willing to sacrifice all his brothers to a fire storm... ...he had other surprises for the xeno scum. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau2.jpg The invidious tau commander looks over to the hard hit brother Stompy... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau2bot.jpg Marines The Captain was fierce looking over the battlefield as he commanded in the drop pods for a counter attack. The two venerable (and angry  ) dreadnoughts descending the pods in a wave of dust and smoke were a bad surprise for the xeno gunline. As Venorum commanded, they attacked the crisis which had slain their brothers with fire and steel from glowing storm cannon barrels. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/SM2.jpg Brother 'Mordus fidelis' melting tau minions into deserved redemption. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/sm2bot.jpg Will the holy rage of the 'Tears of Medusa' be enough to regain control in this battle? Will Captain Venorum and his battle brothers be able to survive and fulfill their mission? The rest of the BatRep will come tomorrow, since its to damn late and i cann't keep my eyes open.... capt.nuss
Turn 3 Tau The tau tried to get out of ra(n)ge of the dreadnoughts while still holding good fire positions for heavy weapons. Just a second later brother Scaramangus was wrapped in a fireball and all his experience and courgeousness couldn't help him to withstand... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau3.jpg Brother Scaramangus falls to a laser guided missile... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau3bot.jpg Marines The few remaining marines, now reunited with their captain, had a hard time making it through a riuned house. Since no tau warrior was in range or sight, they decided to fullfill the mission to get into the enemies' deployment zone for recon as fast as possible. Brother Mordus on the other side of the battlefield found that it was time to use some of the xenos 'asymetric tactics' for hisself. He stormed towards the fleeing tau warriors and drones to relieve his wrath by sqashing xenos with his gigantic powerfist. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/sm3.jpg Turn 4 Tau As the tau were unable to fire at the marine dread without threatening their own warriors, they regrouped, to get into the range of the marines again. Luckily they downed one frm the tac squad which nearly got pinned in the ruines. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau4.jpg A Coloss in shock as he watches an already lost close combat http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau4bot.jpg Marines Two remaining Jumppack marines saw a chance that they would perhaps be able to reach the tau commander - or at least to buy time for Captain Venorum who had finally made it out of the ruins with his squad. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/sm4.jpg Turn 5 Tau Now the tau started the race for victory points and moved with full force into the marine deployment zone. All attempts to finish off brother Mordus failed, as his armor must have been hardened in the fire of the fight. The two brave jumppack marines were less blessed and fell at the feet of a sinister grinning tau commander by the fire of his electric drone servants. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/tau5.jpg Marines The last of the brothers continued their march towards the mission objective as fast as possible, while knowing they would be in the range and sensor arrays of the xeno's long range weapons. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/sm5.jpg Turn 6 In the last turn the tau were not able to hit anything on the table. The marines on the other side got a last chance to kill the coloss suit. With two perfect rapid fire shots a marine proved his skills to send the alien to perdition in a light blue flash. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/thend.jpg The game ended about 500pts. to 1150pts.... a major defeat for the marines. But Captain Venorum swore bitter vengence for the fallen brothers.... with 1500 points... with another list... ... next week Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86655-batrep-1000-tears-of-medusa-vs-tau/#findComment-1003720 Share on other sites

Barret
I think you should be awarded the win solely on the basis of a having a completely painted army, unlike your xeno opponent. Lazy xenos. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/86655-batrep-1000-tears-of-medusa-vs-tau/#findComment-1077670 Share on other sites

penguin_16
Very nice Battle report, I'm looking forward to the next one. I know your dreads are fluffy, but you should try and get more marines in with the extra points.
