Storm Ghost Terminator

Recommended Posts

Since my tutorial on the Storm Ghosts was lost in 'The Great Crash' and I still get a few questions about wether I still have it, here it goes again. Too bad the pics aren't too great... :P

So.. A few months have passed since the Chapter Master contest and a little while ago I got a box of new plastic Terminators to paint up in the Storm Ghost colours. As I

I was considering replacing all of the brown included in this tutorial w/ green, but I will do a few test pieces to see which works best.

My only issue is with the "striping/feathering" done in the last stages. I am a good painter, all modesty aside :P But I haven't been able to paint well using the feathering strip as I'm used to layering. So I am quite jealous of what you achieved here. Hopefully with some practice I'll be able to emulate the style.

This is probably my best "find" as far as tutorials go and the look I am wanting to achieve with the Plague Marines

do you meen the vertical stripes that make the 'fibe' of the bone?

if so, I gone bad on them as well ... they came out to thick =/

if you got any tips let me know =)

That's quite funny, I used to be able to do relatively nice blendings, but after painting my Emperors Children (the pink is stripey) I just can't seem to get it smooth anymore..

Ive just figuered out a way to improve my photography-skills, so I'll post up a new pic in a minute..

more like the kind used by John here. Used as a source of highlighting versus the traditional blending/layering to get the more worn appearance or texture as apparent in these mini's.

Smooth blending will not look good on Plague Marines, which is what I'm good at. This style is perfect and exactly what I'm looking for. I'm highly tempted to grab a marine arm when i get home and give it a try, while putting the chaos lords bits aside.

As promised, here are some new and slightly aproved pics (still not too good, nor patient enough for Photoshop though)

And to top it off, pics from the other marines, so you can see how it looks on power armour:

Superb. Just superb. That is exactly the bone color that I am looking at for my BT/ DIY successor army. I am planning on using more of a maroon color to compliment the bone though.

Thanks for reposting this. I will be referring back to it often when I start painting my models.

I love this tutorial. i have the word version on my HD that you emailed me quite a while ago, but it has no pictures, and i have been looking for this for ages. im deffenintly using a modified version of this on my deathwing if you dont mind...

NOOO! There so awesome I can't resist painting them! Argh, whenever I finally pick a color scheme a thread of pure awesome comes along and changes my mind for me! Oh well, your scheme is so good that I'll have to paint a test model and I'll see where it goes from there...

P.S: Awesome tutorial really clear and easy to understand.
