  1. I cannot not upvote a post with a cat in it. Give Kwazii pets for me - though don't wake him up to do so.

  2. Just to bring a precision: any mention to "serious issue" from my side is of course pure irony. Otherwise, I am thinking about a second instalment for continuation of this post: storylining of my painting program... Because this one is only about managing short term program but it does not give insight on how this program is planted through the year... And how B&C is a source of stimulation and reprogramming. Thank you Call to Arms challenges...

  3. I don't. I'm horrendous at finishing anything, and jump onto new projects all the time. I'm currently working on 3 seperate Kill Teams, I've got to finish my Space Marine army (most painted to at least "battle standard" ie 3 colours min), and I've got Tyranid army that needs started painting. Not to mention the multiple 40k "display" pieces, and non-40k stuff like Marvel: Crisis Protocol etc to finish painting. I struggle to finish things. I tried to organise better and plan things out... it didn't work. I hope you have better luck than me!

  4. My painting plan: What army has my interest? What new units/ rules did my army get? What is the purpose of painting? Paint scheme difficulty? Currently my Adepta Sororitas has my current interest (1), received the Celestian Insidiants (2), want to play them in my groups upcoming league/ Campaign (3), and painting scheme is not hard to due. Compared to my Grey Knights, Newer Codex (2) and True Scaling (3), and scheme is easy (4). My GK have my interest but revisiting my Order Minoris, Order of the Parthenon, has taken priority, as this was my Personal Order, I created. The issues that hinder my progress: One issue is I buy a lot of models and accessories for armies and store them for later. So when I get the itch for an army I raid my stash, which messes with Gamer ADHD. Another issue is time. Still learning to be a (step)dad, taking care of newborn, wife returning to work (even if from home), and well all that this life entails. Going from having a lot of time in a no kid relationship to being married, a (step)dad, and trying to learn how to make time for myself. Along with my own personal Mental Health struggles. Paint scheme difficulty is a major issue as well. My Valorous Heart is Airbrush heavy and when I started them I was using GW paints and I have shifted away from them. I need to eventually. My Exorcists are a metallic scheme, so have some difficulty to them and time consuming unlike the GKs metallic scheme. The break through I needed and what triggered it: I have been dealing with Mental Health issues, lack of time, work, and being a dad/ husband lately. This stopped my hobby time. I knew I needed out of the funk and GW did something that motivated me. GW releasing rules for Red Corsairs and Iron Warriors. Not armies I play but Heretic Astartes and the @The_Oni_of_Hindsight's favorite Legion/ Traitor Marines. A long time rival force, played by one of my best friends/ regular opponents, and he deserves to face my Favorite Army.

  5. Thanks, I was using AK 6mm tape which was a pain to get to actually stick down so in hindsight this result was probably expected, however, now I have to strip it again I can do a better job on my very lazy gap filling so swings and roundabouts I suppose! To be honest im really enjoying using the airbrush but it is quite labour intense having to clean it out after every use, and I can see the cost of airbrush cleaner steadily spiralling!

  6. Not only a cat, but an orange. Our orange was always gentle around miniatures, and anything really. The calico is another story. She’ll look you dead in the eye as she gleefully sees how far a figure will fly after a good swipe. Moonstone skin is part of their color triads, isn’t it? Do you use the others to highlight or shade, or mostly rely on the zenithal highlighting for that? I haven’t tried AP paints yet but they are on my list to pick up.

  7. Quite a lot of your last two posts resonates with me. I also have multiple projects running at the same time so if something is drying, I can work on something else. But not so many that I might get overwhelmed! I have a main project line of my homebrew Astartes chapter, of which I have enough models to always have something 'on the go'. I have army lists of increasing in 500 point chunks but am currently working on a Combat Patrol for them. I'm also working on their main opposition - Orks - and like to pick up on any B&C challenges that take my fancy. As no plan survives contact with the enemy, I'm learning to be flexible and try not to not put unrealistic expectations on my completion rates.

  8. I tend to plan painting around army lists. The approach to priority is roughly: 1) Is it an army I am actively playing, 2) Is it a unit I will use frequently, 3) Is it a unit/build I don’t have painted yet, 4) Would it require new techniques or working with a color I rarely use, 5) Does it finish up a unit/project. Having a force composition and theme in mind helps me get past the initial mental block of staring at bare plastic. Having a goal for a unit gives slight additional incentive to finish…minimally in having painted minis to field hit also amplified by people encouraging progress. The downside is that I end up with stalled projects when I’m not actively playing, or if I switch army ideas as I frequently do. A lot of the above is heavily influenced by mental state, which has many peaks and valleys, and whether I’m having a good or bad eye day (getting older is a pain). Having multiple projects actively in flight is something I need to consider. It might help with avoiding drifting focus if I placed less emphasis on full armies (that I’m intending to field) and instead do more of a unit by unit approach. When I’m less active on the gaming side I focus on the models I have picked up solely to paint for a challenge or showcase a technique. These tend to be long running efforts that I break into subassemblies rather than something I’ll start and work through until done.

  9. Looking good! Love the name heh. Looking forward to seeing more of the team For the sisters I'd personally go white armor and teal cloth, but I'm a sucker for white armored sisters and painting teal over white is easier than the other way around

  10. For bases I am getting them off Etsy as I do not have a 3d resin printer. They are these bits. base toppers. So far I like them. Sellers I used so far are: Forgotten Labyrinth (go to for bulk base toppers) Mungos Marvelous Minis (Favorite place to get bits but not able to get bulk bases for army) Printed by Aliens Deep Dive Studios

  11. Scouts don't want to stand out in the open; they want to make opponents commit and waste more than 65 points to dislodge them. Even taking 5 bolters doesn't really do much, 5 bolters on intercessors, however, is really good due to their special rule. The missile launcher makes your opponent second-guess their positioning (lest a Krak missile get lucky); a sniper rifle does the same with precision to a squad with a character. The chainsword and knives then give you a chance to cling onto an objective when your opponent comes to contest in melee. It's the ap 1 on the knives that is good. So I'd either take 4 knives on the unit plus chainsword on the sgt, but I personally like the chaos of the missile launcher and sniper rifle. The weaker of the two, between the missile launcher and the sniper rifle, is the rifle, so another option is to cut one of them for a knife. The world (and bits box) is your oyster! I personally bought the Kill Team scouts box, which comes with two of each for two squads, and I had some Crusader Neophyte bodies too, so for the third squad, I will be using a spare eliminator sniper rifle (I had the KT starter kit, which, handily, comes with a single Eliminator), and I raided the bits box for an old shoulder mounted firstborn missile launcher but I'm sure if you have imperial guard of some sort lying around you cound make one of those work too (probably an IG sniper rifle around if you have those bits or know someone with them).

  13. I dreaded the switch over when the plastic Sisters came out because like you an army I had for 30 years, . And Fear this when the Grey Knights get updated as it my largest fully painted force. Great Job on updating your World Eaters warband! Can not wait to see more.

  14. That’s a rough go with the hawk. Just keep reminding yourself that third time’s a charm! What do you use for masking? I am using Taimya masking tape when stippling or sponging. Haven’t tried it with airbrushing as I have only really used my airbrush for priming.

  15. Neo with Trigger is great for base coating, imho. I usually have to take the back cap to get finer adjustments, where as the other 3 have the cutouts. I probably could switch out needles but it is still bulkier and not as easy to use like the others.

  16. I do love Vallejo primer though. I have used it through the airbrush and been very pleased with the results but mostly paint it on by brush. Off topic but how do you like the Neo with the trigger Vs the more traditional style?
    1 point
  17. I love the effect an airbrush can have, particularly on larger models with large, flat areas, but with an airbrush I spend half my time painting and half my time cleaning the thing out. Still, persevere, as the end result can be very satisfying.

  18. Yes it is part of their triad series. I do like using them as I just grab the colors off my rack and I have the highlights handy. Some of the triads are like 6-7 colors but usually I stick to 3-4. lol I had cats like that. He’s the only one of the 3 that will go on my desk. The other 2 (black cat and grey calico- all from same litter) will just go under the desk.

No idea just something I found on amazon, it was a compressor and airbrush combo but both seem to be working fine for my skill level, im only really just moving away from citadel paints and using rattle cans for basecoats and the airbrush/ vallejo primer combo seemes to be working out OK so far so will stick with it for now, im no airbrush wizard so if this is giving me a consistent smooth base coat I will stick with it for now

  22. Simple enough: I don't. Instead, I pack. I have set a tray system to get everything stored in thematic boxes and I get these out of the closet when I plan an activity. Up to recently I have been able managing packing everything in a single wardrobe / cupboard piece of fourniture. A non standard one; tall (7,2 feet) and deep (2,6 feet) . But it fits in. Which will come to an end as I will need extra space for packing the pieces of scenery I am currently building (hills and cliffs) and clerly exceed this storage capacity. As I use 2 out of the 3 doors, I may eventually empty and clean the last thrid to get freed space. But it means managing my wife's own hobbies. She however has another closet for her material that is almost empty... Expropriation might be an option (And a Kenwood kitchener might also help forgiving my planned invasion). The other option would be getting rid of the excess of bitz as these boxes use up to almost 20% of the available space. But it is always tricky as you do not need these bitz until you got rid of them. And sorting them by type and number in plastic bags is not a task I am currently considering as being vital. Even if once rid of the sprues the compactness will be greatly improved.

  23. I haven’t been following the leaks. The main (only?) feature is enabling character customization? Are you seeing customized characters as more useful in the list(s) you are looking at compared to what has been available, or is it more the modeling aspects that make it interesting? Also, why do SoB figs have to look so nice… (Me, trying hard to ignore the Celestine and sister Amalia boxes that sit in judgement on the backlog shelf)

  25. I admire your dedication and ability to turn out the models. I wish i could that, but I rotate armies out to work on them. Saturday Grey Knights Sanctic Spearhead and Combat Patrol, Dawn of War Onslaught, and Crux Terminatus boxes went to storage in the garage, and the Adepta Sororitas came out to make room the cabinet....or is take up room in the office . I can't imagine how much space I would need if I played AOS/ WFB or the sub games for that genre. Bad Enough I have games I wont play from other companies including the one about a Crusade in a Trench that just came out or a decent size Imperial Star Wars army taking up space in my display Cabinets. @Bouargh, How do you display your miniatures?

  27. I am more on an Iron Grenadier Fan myself......I just like Destro's back story more. BUT COOOOBRRRAAAAAAAAAA For sisters the armor is the harder part to paint and fix compared to the cloth While painting. I would go Teal Armor white robes. Something like this but this is not bad either. But that is a lot of white to paint. Bolter and Chainsword- Sisters painter

  31. You may have to use them for combat, but the build I propose gives them hybrid utility. Leaving a unit on an objective at the end of your turn means your opponent needs to commit and potentially outscore you. The knives and chainsword give you a better chance to do that, and might mean that you score that objective next turn. I personally like the Lone op Lieutenant and frequently run one, but in terms of contesting objectives (which is what you want scouts doing, at least until something bigger can arrive), he only has 1 OC, whereas each scout has 1 OC for a total of 5OC. He has 4 wounds; they have 10 total. If the Lone Op Lt is on an objective, are you going to react and move off the objective? It's probably best to stay on it and give yourself a chance to score it in your command phase. 5 scouts will do more than the Lt in that case. The Lone Op is great for actions but less good at objectives. Many games have missions that require actions, and every game has objectives (usually). Also, Guerrilla Tactics, which is the scout special rule, means you can do this: If you're more than 6" away from all enemy models at the end of your opponent's turn, you can put them into strategic reserves and put them down again in your turn. You can't move with them, but you can shoot and charge. That can be a sniper rifle aimed at a character buffing a squad, or a missile launcher going into a dreadnought in the backfield. They can also charge into a weak screening unit on an objective (you'd need to roll 9 on 2d6, but it's possible). If the objective is unguarded/screened, they can also plop there, prompting your opponent to commit again. That the scouts can't run away in the same way that the lone-op is neither here nor there; they are there to harass and make your opponent put effort into them that they don't put into your good troops. Hope that helps, but ultimately it's up to you. If this isn't for tournament play, just go with what you want to play with and paint. I think the scouts are pretty fun though (and offer fun modelling opportunities).

  32. Just to note, I've also tried Incursors in a similar role, which are similar (80pts for 5) as they have the bolters and combat knives, and they just aren't as good as scouts for more points. I also find that you rarely get to use the ability where you shoot something, and the rest of your army gets +1 to hit on it, and I was actively trying to use them like this - so the scouts would likely have similar issues getting any use from the bolters. The Incursor's version of the Missile Launcher is the free haywire mine, but you have to be really close for that, and it might take one model out, which is sometimes nice, but it's usually a consolation prize.

  35. In terms of gameplay, I'd agree that the Eradicators would benefit from transport. You could switch to a vanilla Land Raider (saving c 50pts) that would give you anti-tank, and you could drop a hammerstrike and take a Repulsor with a few tweaks. That gives you two transports, and you can put the bladeguard/judi into one of them, enabling you to get up the board quicker (plus adding the guns of the second tank). I'd consider dropping the Apothecary Biologis, as he's not great with the Eradicators; giving lethal hits isn't that effective for something with low shots and high strength. The Biologis also has a melee ability to gain OC, which your eradicators shouldn't be doing, ideally. Apothecary Biologis is only remotely viable, really, with Bolter/Missile Launcher Aggressors. If you have to have a character with them, a Captain in Gravis armour is a better choice. If you skip the Gravis character on the Eradicators, you could use some form of annoying 'action monkey' unit like 5 scouts (give one a sniper rifle and one a missile launcher, to give your opponent pause lest you snipe a tank). If you have any spare change, you could go from a Repulsor to a Repulsor Executioner (which would still fit the BG and Judi).

  36. I just had a thought. Maybe I should drop the Land Raider Redeemer. From a Lore perspective it doesn't make sense why they would use one, and second a Repulsor is only 180 points. I could add another Intercessor Squad or maybe an Assault Squad to the mix with the points. I still need more big thing killing power though. I'm weak against Knights.

    Order of the Parthenon

Actually, though I was a participant in the challenge, I can't take credit for it. Credit is owed to @Olis, @Aqui, @Conn Eremon, and the other Liber mods (and the Liber community as a whole) at that time. It's always great to see old projects dusted off and reinvigorated. I'm looking forward to seeing the Order of the Parthenon brought back to its full glory. I figured I'd drop this here just in case it helps... The Bolter and Chainsword : Sisters of Silence Painter

Thanks! For now it's gonna be 4 sectors on 44 x 60 table and later wanna add one more for 44 x 90. ruined district Undamaged one, hilly forest/park and manufactorum. Now I trying my current skills and start from ruins. We have here some ancient companies who make and sell acrylic paints for if I convert it right $1 for 100 ml. Starting from 100ml pot. So it shouldn't be problem. Plasticard and PVC that where main cost come from. Still I'll contacted some company who make PVC sheets for marketing agency. So that's gonna be pretty cheap. Storage gonna be main issue.

  45. Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a mental health downer at the moment. It can be tough when that happens, and with everything that's going on, it's not a surprise! Even if you're thinking about what you're going to do with your armies that can be enough, and not to force yourself to paint if you're not in the right mind. I've been there myself. As for which sisters order... I've just gotten the new sisters Kill team and have been looking at the options for which to paint them, and I'm personally just not wanting to do black armour. My marines are a dark scheme, so want to do something brighter, but preferably not white or silver! So I'm probably going to make up an Order which might be tinted silver. Otherwise, I was considering the Order of the Bloody Rose, as at least Red armour isn't black or silver!
