Cheers for the feedback, I'll update some of this. I mainly use them as Imperial Fists anyway. Quick question, what colour works best for the text? On the PC the background is black by default. Thanks again.

Name: Shadow Sentinels Colour: Dark Green with Silver Aquila and trim Symbol: Green Zebra stripes on an orange background Chapter Master: The Light that Guides (designated call sign) Chapter World: Unknown, assumed fleet based Founding: Unknown (Circa M.32) Gene-seed: unknown… +++++ Report to Inquisitor Marleck on the origins of the Shadow Sentinel Chapter M.35+++++ The Sentinels are a secretive chapter of an unknown origin and founding, based around the northern outskirts of the Sementum Pacificus, near the Halo Stars. They appear to be fleet based, though they neither confirm nor deny this and if indeed they do or did have a homeworld base, the location is not recorded on any records we have been able to find. Due to their secretive nature and proximity to the ruins of Caliban, it has been theorised that they were an unknown offshoot of the Dark Angels chapter. This theory appears to have been down to their similar chapter colours and markings and may have been further perpetuated by the Chapter themselves. The Dark Angels have strenuously denied any lineage. There is one question on their otherwise spotless record. Their first known appearance was in M.32 which does not correspond to any known founding. Due to their mysterious appearance, use of archaic language & prose and close proximity to the eye of terror, they were subject to an extensive inquisitional investigation after allegations surfaced that they were may have been linked to the Alpha Legion. We were unable to substantiate who made these allegations and any findings of that investigation were unobtainable to this agent but it appears no further action was taken against them. What is known about them is they are selective in their chosen battleground and when they take the field they mainly deploy infantry, shunning vehicles. There is one exception to this rule, the chapter routinely deploy an unusually high number of dreadnoughts. This has led observers to question if they follow the standard codex structure and further speculate if they indeed have enough battle brothers to field a full chapter. They have recently been seen with greater numbers of Primaris Marines deployed, so it appears that they have benefited greatly from the Primaris reinforcements offered to all chapters as part of the Ultima Founding. Who authorised this and from which gene stock remains a mystery. ++Report ends. Sector Agent Lucian Grite+++ Picture of some Aggressors: 'The Gathering Storm', to show Chapter colours and Symbol. Having my own space marine chapter was always a no brainer. With that decided, I had to come up with a back story and having an unimaginative, unknown founding (mainly so I could try out different chapter tactics) was nothing new. Reading the Horus Heresy series, some of the stories that really captured my imagination were the those where members of the, to be' traitor legions found themselves defending the imperium, sometimes against their own legion brothers. The Alpha Legion in particular originally only defected in order to hasten the eventual defeat of Chaos. Would it not then be plausible that some of them would remain on the Loyalist side fighting incognito (as their legion was known to do)? It also gave me an excuse to field a multitude of models that had different legion symbols on them (my first 2 box dreadnoughts had Dark Angels carapaces), I also have a FW Alpha Legion dread, painted in the Chapter colours. Who else but Alpha Legion would impersonate other chapters (both in looks and in tactics). ++++++ Report to Inquisitor Marleck on the Shadow Sentinel Librarius ++++++ For hundreds of years it has been assumed that the Chapter lacked the gene required to manifest psychic powers (this time fuelling rumours that they were an offshoot of the Black Templars). This opinion was furthered by the number of Culexus assassins that had been seen operating in tandem with the Sentinels, in an apparent effort to neutralise enemy psykers. It is this agent’s opinion, that this is another example of the misdirection constantly employed by the Chapter. Although he cannot offer hololith evidence, this agent has personally observed at least one Sentinel manifesting powers from the Librarius Discipline. Whether this Marine is an aberration in the Chapter or one of many Librarians rarely seen, he cannot confirm. Of probably greater importance is the question of why have they gone to such lengths to conceal their presence. ++++++ Report ends. Sector agent Lucian Grite ++++++

Hi all, Our club is having it's annual show. Lots of participation/demo games for various genres. It also has a good number of traders there selling warhammer (new and 2nd hand) as well as other genres. There is also a large bring and buy stand where you can sell your unwanted items and normally pick up a good selection of warhammer bits too. 40k is very prevalent at the club (with all levels of players from those who attend tournaments, to casual players, to complete novices), and we'd love to welcome new members if you are in SE London and want to drop in to say hello, see if it's for you. http://www.selwg.org/selwg-show-2021 https://www.tickettailor.com/events/selwg1/560199/# Confirmed Traders ABC Brushes Battle Foam Battlezone Miniatures Blotz Brigade Models Cerberus Studios Clive’s Diecasts and Plastic Kits Colonel Bills Conquest Games Crooked Dice Cuirassier Books Dave Lanchester Books DMB Games Elite Wargames and Models Geek Villain Great Escape Games Ground Zero Games Harps Corp Ltd Helion Publishing Infinity Engine Instant Armies Ironclad Miniatures Iron Gate Scenery Last Man Last Bullet M&C Model Painting Magnetic Displays Mili-Art Northumberland Painting Service 1.72 Models Parkfield Miniatures Paul Harrison Paul Meekins Books Plastic Soldier Company Products for Wargamers Rogues Gaming Sammy Scenics Scarab Miniatures Sgts Mess Sheppey Models SHQ Miniatures Stonewall Miniatures Tablescape The Last Valley The Pit Gaming Shop The Sleeping Dragon Hobby Shop Tiny Wargames Troll Trader Too Fat Lardies Wargames Foundry Warlord Games

England Looking for Gaming Group London!
Knoffles replied to The Wolfguard's topic in Europe's Discussions
A very late reply and it's a bit out of my area but there is Tanelorn Wargames Club (Home | Tanelorn Wargames Club (wixsite.com)) Or if you are happy to go into central London there is the London Warhammer gaming Guild (The London Warhammer Gaming Guild (London, United Kingdom) | Meetup) You can also always get games at Darksphere (Waterloo) or Badmoon Cafe (London Bridge) - both central London. My club is SELWG but we are based in Catford (SE London), so is south of the river and a bit out of your way for Friday night gaming. -
Who is your favorite Table Top Tactics Host?

The first time I came across it and saw Bone I was like golly gee and it almost put me off the channel. How wrong I was. He just cracks me up and it's a shame he's moved onto pastures new. I'm also a big fan of Beard and the Spider. The latter as I really like his coaching. For someone who doesn't play 40k often it really helps understand games and tactics more easily. -

Iron Father Ferrum reacted to a post in a topic: Which firstborn dread?
-
I had my first game of 9th on Friday (I’m also a novice player so take that into account) and took 6 dreads: 2*ironclads with chainfist/hurricane/melta/hunter killers, 1 Contemptor with assault cannon, 1 venerable with TLC/ML, standard dread with assault cannon and fist and redemptor with onslaughts. Played as Imp fists vs a Salamanders list loaded (as you’d expect) with flamers and melta. Though I took some earlier losses (1 Ironclad/Contemptor) the sheer number took my opponent by surprise and the remaining ironclad was my MVP single handedly taking out his plasma redemptor and relic shield tough as nails captain. The chainfist is brutal in combat, especially vs vehicles. I’m fast growing back in love with the Ironclad

Is there a role for the Ironclad Dreadnought?
Knoffles replied to Knoffles's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
Cheers for the responses. I like the comment about target saturation and is in line with my thinking. In my first game of 9th on Friday I’ll be looking to field 5-6 dreads (I like dreads and built the fluff of my army around them), a Contemptor (kheres), Redemptor (Dakka one) - these builds as the models are built that way, Venerable (TLLC/ML), 2 Ironclads (1 with hurricane/chainfist though I’m now thinking duel CC weapons/flamers on the other). The 6th one is a standard dread with fist/assault cannon (though I may drop this for a drop pod of stern guard as, why not!). 6 dreads could be a bit of overkill and limit my other options but I figure it will be fun! -

I noticed that. I’m assuming that the file for the pc just hasn’t been updated

I’ll preface this post by saying I’m a huge fan of the visual aesthetic of the boxnoughts so always try and fit at least one in all my lists (normally a venerable fire base) and I’m also more of a fluff player than necessarily about list optimisation. That said, I’ve struggled with the Ironclad. I’ve been toying with putting 2 in the list with hurricane bolters, chainfist and melta loadout (I normal run as Imp Fists, again due to fluff reasons). Backed up with the compulsory tech Marine with rites of war. (The list I’m going to be running on Friday actually has 5 dreads... as I said, I like dreads!) Has anyone been using the Ironclad with any success and with any particular load outs?

Knoffles replied to Captain Idaho's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
I’d be happy if the crusader got the assault ramp and I’d also be happy if most of the vehicles got something similar to the old fantasy chariot impact hits (D6 automatic hits if they charge) or even a grinding attack, say 3 automatic base strength hits in combat -

I'm in a similar situation as you and so can't advise on what is good or not per say but I can ask what are your goals. Are you wanting to enter tournaments or looking for more friendly games. Do you want to start a specific chapter as that might influence loadouts. Likewise do you have a favoured style of play, gunline, close combat or a mixture? A good rule is to collect the models you like the look of. Metas change so what might be good in one area might be less effective in others.

Knoffles replied to chapter master 454's topic in + TACTICA +
I love dreads and they are the single reason I started a SM army and I'll be running the 4 I own in my initial lists (Redemptor, Ven and 2 Ironclad). Being an utter noob at 40k though I do have a question. If running 2 foot slogging ironclads what loadouts would you take? 2 ccw or a chainfist and hurricane bolter? (Or one of each). I wasn't sure if the combo of ccw and ranged would be better in order that it would be able to contribute in the event of kiting? Also are the assault launchers worth it? 5pts seems quite cheap but I know what my single dice rolls are like! -
I'm a member of SELWG and a lot of our members are based in or around the Bromley area (though the club is in Catford). You can often find the members in Warboar near the Glades shopping centre (and you can always get games there too). Although i'm new to 40k (mainly play Warhammer fantasy) I can say the club always has multiple 40k games going on and everyone is really friendly. The club is open around 6.45-11 on a Friday and games are normally organised via the club FB page and sometimes via the club forum. Nick is probably the committee member you want to speak to if you come down as he loves his 40k. EDIT: Apologies should have looked at the date of the original post!!
