  1. The "trick" has always been that the release is actually happening 5min before the offical time. Thats why I always hit the refreseh at exactly 10:55. When you enter the website at 11:00 you are most definetly way too late for the highest sort after items, such as the LE of SoT etc.
  2. I am German and I as far as I can see it, I would say that this is a new release. I certainly haven't realised that this book has already been announced elsewhere.
  3. Campaign books are deeply connected to the table top game and continue the current narrative of Warhammer40k, giving new formations, rules, and objectives for missions in the game. Its a collection of all of these things, some lore, some rules, pictures of the new units and so on. But it's not a classic book that covers a story in 300 pages written by an author.
  4. There are svereal sources regarding stories or lore when it comes to Warhammer40k: The classic approach would be the books released by Black Library, a branch company of Games Workshop that covers the releases of alle the books, for example "Horus Rising" (by Dan Abbnet), "Eisenhorn: Xenos" (by Dan Abnett), "Dante" (by Guy Haley) and so on. Games Workshop also publishes campaign books (concentrate on current main events, for example the "Arcs of Omen" campaign that focussed on Abaddon's plans after he achieved the opening of the Great Rift) or codices (concentrate on specific factions of the Table Top game, for example the newly released "Emperor's Children" get a new codex this weekend). Books, campaign books and codices can of course influence each other, which is why we get for each new edition of the Table Top Game also a equivalent book (for example 9th edition release with the "Leviathan" box, "Leviathan" campaign book, "Leviathan" book by Gav Thrope) White Dwarf magazines are released on a released on monthly (?) base and also include some stories or information on units
  5. If I remember correctly, the events surrounding the 13th Black Crusade, the fall of Cadia and Guilliman's return were covered in the campaign books ‘The Gathering Storm’. This was then subsequently taken up in more detail in many books, so I think the order would be as follows: Events of the Fall of Cadia: "The Gathering Storm - Fall of Cadia" [Campaign book] The Fall of Cadia (Robert Rath) - Main Event Minska Lesk (Justin D. Hill) - One perspective The Hellwinter Gate (Chris Wraight) - One perspective Events of the Return of Guilliman: "The Gathering Storm - Rise of the Primarch" [Campaign book] - Covers the events of the ressurection of Guilliman and his Terran Crusade The Carrion Throne - Vaults of Terra (Chris Wraight) - Events on Terra shortly before the opening of the Great Rift The Hollow Mountain - Vaults of Terra (Chris Wraight) The Emperor's Legion: Watchers of the Throne (Chris Wraight) - Events on Terra during Fall of Cadia, Guilliman returns to Terra The Dark City - Vaults of Terra (Chris Wraight) Indomitus Crusade - Imperium Sanctus: Dawn of Fire - Avenging Son (Guy Haley) [Indomitus Crusade series] - Events about the start of the Indomitus Crusade The Regent's Shadow: Watchers of the Throne (Chris Wraight) - Events of Terra during und shortly after Guilliman started the Indomitus Crusade ------- from now on total focus on the Indomitus Crusade ------------ Psychic Awakening [Various campaign books] Dawn of Fire - The Gate of Bones (Andy Clark) Dawn of Fire - The Wolftime (Gav Thorpe) Indomitus (Gav Thorpe) Dawn of Fire - Throne of Light (Guy Haley) Dawn of Fire - The Iron Kingdom (Nick Kyme) Dawn of Fire - The Matyr's Tomb (Marc Collins) Dawn of Fire - Sea of Souls (Chris Wraight) Dawn of Fire - Hand of Abaddon (Nick Kyme) Dawn of Fire - The Silent King (Guy Haley) Dark Imperium (Guy Haley) - After the events of the "Dawn of Fire" series, Guilliman returns to Ultramar to fight Mortarion Dark Imperium - Plague War (Guy Haley) Dark Imperium - Godblight (Guy Haley) The Great Work (Guy Haley) - After the events of the "Dark Imperium" triology, focus on Belisarius Cawl Genefather (Guy Haley) - Events shortly before Guilliman/the Indomitus Crusade travels to Imperium Nihilus, focus on Belisarius Cawl and Fabius Bile Indomitus Crusade - Imperium Nihilus: Dante - Blood Angels (Guy Haley) - shortly before the opening of the Great Rift The Devestation of Baal - Blood Angels (Guy Haley) - during the opening of the Great Rift, the Indomitus Crusade arrives Darkness in the Blood - Blood Angels (Guy Haley) - Dante as Lord Commander of Imperium Nihilus Angron - The Red Angel (David Guymer) - focus on the return of Angron and the World Eaters The Lion - Son of the Forest (Mike Brooks) - Return of Lion El'Johnson Arcs of Omen [Various campaign books] Leviathan (Darius Hinks) (focus on the 4th Tyranic war) Leviathan [campaign books] Fulgrim - The Perfect Son (Jude Reid) That's roughly my chronological order of the events till now. There are surely some gaps (I did not read all of the available books), so all Fraters are invited to complete this list or alter it Edit: I have included the additions of the other Fraters (date: 09.04.2025)
  6. I am going for this beauty! Hopefully this story involves Fulgrim more than 'Angron - The Red Angel' did regarding Angron. That was rather disappointing
  7. There has been a serious lack of anything interesting regarding the current 40k universe for months. I know that the last Indomitus Crusade novel is going to be released in April, but come on, what is going on there? It has worked fine till 2023. And what about the Lion? Since his release there hasn't been anything forthcoming. Hopefully, they take there time to prepare some awesome new campaign...
  8. I seriously think that Sevetar is a hot candidate for one of the HH Character Series books though
  9. Have to admit that this years Black Library Celebration is rather boring. Two new novels, which come with no surprise (already annouced last year). And the BL Celevration figures go to Lesk + team which already got a figure 1 or 2 years ago. Wonder when a novel is going to be released that will captivate me once more. It has been some time.
  10. 90% of the community are rather exhausted/burned by the last book "The End and the Death Vol. III". The reveal wasn't something to be surprised about since we got the leak months before. I guess I am happy about getting stories of my favourite authors who finish loose ends, but I am definitely not satisfied that we do even need that book in the first place. I also do not waste any more words on the matter, since we already got this whole discussion countless times in the "Siege" threat.
  11. https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/fYkfHhw0/minka-lesk-celebrate-cadias-finest-with-a-new-miniature-new-books-and-a-free-mission/ Yep...
  12. As far as new reveals should be a thing, that was mostly disappointing regarding BL. Lesk and Fulgrim were "new", although Fulgrim was a more obvious one. Even "Era of Ruin" wasn't revealed.
  13. I would like to ask a question to the more knowledgeable members of the forum regarding Imperial Fists helmet colors. I am currently painting my first Imperial Fists army and was wondering what color a Fist Captain's helmet is. In this context, I would like to know in general what the different helmets look like. My current knowledge is as follows: “Normal” troopers: bright yellow, center stripe also yellow. “Normal” sergeant: blank red, center stripe white. “Normal” lieutenant: blank red, center stripe white, inner center stripe red. “Normal” captain: uncertain; blank black, center stripe white??? Veteran troops: blank white, center stripe also white (because veterans are usually deployed by the first company and white is their crest, right?) Veteran sergeant: I don't know, same as the regular NCO? Veteran lieutenant: I don't know, the same as the regular lieutenant? Veteran Captain: There are no special veteran captains, right? Is this collection complete or did I forgot other troops of the Fists as well? My thanks for answering this question
  14. Or maybe even set up a separate section for this? This could then be called Preview and updated quarterly? Or perhaps you could organize events where you can meet the authors to ask background questions or where they can even present new works? Just a few more random ideas...
  15. No offense, but can we avoid this controversial topic in a post that is about something completely different?
  16. I have only read 5 books of the list. Each of these books were okay, some even borderd to be exceptional. Personally, I always find it difficult to rate books better than mediocre after reading them for the first time. This is because I always have the expectation to experience a similarly gripping plot as in the Horus Heresy or almost all of Aaron Demski-Bowden's books (Spear of the Emperor, Helsreach, ...). My own ranking is therefore as follows: 1. The End and the Death Vol. III (only at the top because the end of the series also resonates here for me. I find the ending itself weak compared to other works in the SoT series) 2. Broken Crusade (a really great surprise) 3. Lord of Excess 4. Oath of Damnation 5. Eidolon: The Auric Hammer
  17. To my knowledge there are 4 versions for the english language: The limited editions, the hardbacks, paperbacks and ebook version. In the German language, there are 3 versions: Large paperback, collection and ebook version. Although this is meant to be funny, it deprives you of major storylines and you may only understand half of what actually happens during the siege and why. I strongly disagree.
  18. Yeah, if my memory does me justice they should all play before SoT (perhaps one or two short stories, that plays after). So we are talking about the range of HH-books from 29 (Vengeful Spirit) - 54 (The Buried Dagger)? 29 - Vengeful Spirit (deals with Horus and how he may get the power to surpass the Emperor) 36 - The Path of Heaven (connects to "28 - Scars" and what happens with the White Scars) 38 - Angels of Caliban (connects to "11 - Fallen Angels" and what happens to the Calibanite Dark Angels + what happens in the Imperium Secondus (see "27 - The Unrembered Empire") 39 - Praetorian of Dorn (deals with the Imperial Fists and Alpha Legion) 44 - The Crimson King (connects to "15 - Prospero Burns" and deals with the Thousand Sons/ Magnus) 46 - Ruinstorm (connects to "38 - Angels of Caliban" and deals with Guilliman, the Lion and Sanguinius) 49 - Wolfsbane (deals with Space Wolves/ Leman Russ and Horus) 51 - Slaves to Darkness (deals with all of the Traitor Legions and their respective Primarch) 54 - The Buried Dagger (deals with the Death Guard/ Mortarion)
  19. Nevertheless, a question from me: Where are we with history in 40k right now? I think the Arks of Omen campaign is our current starting/ending point, right? In other words, the next thing we need to know is what the Lion is up to, or that he and Guilliman should finally meet. And on the Chaos side, we have Abbadon, who is happily working with Vashtorr on his Doomsday device. Concerning actual BL books, we are left with "Genefather"/ "Darkness in the Blood" and "The Lion - Son of the Forrest", right?
  20. I can recommend Arbitor Ian on Youtube, who has made a video to each of the five campaign books, explaining what is happening:
  21. No, it also seems like an unnecessary move towards Haley to me. Regardless, I'm glad he's writing the conclusion. In my opinion, Haley is one of the best 40k authors, though even he doesn't manage to fit all the open storylines into just one final volume. (I hope we're not looking at a “Siege of Terra” - volume 8 scenario: “In eight volumes we'll be done ... er 9! ... er, we'll split the ending into three volumes after all)
  22. Just finished it myself right now. I can only agree to @LemartestheLost sentiment: That is a great Space Marine and Black Templars novel, fashioned like the stories in the "Space Marine Battles" series. At first I was hesitant towards the overall story and suspense. This has all subsided by the last third at the latest. Although the story is only captured in about 230 pages (could have been a bit longer to my taste), I have come to really like it overall. But the last 30 or so pages convinced me that it was one of the best books of the year. A bit of spoiler talk, if you like, you can indulge yourself and give your opinion on it: I would give it a similiar rating of 8.0/10 and it is in my estimtation the second best handling of Black Templars after "Helsreach"
  23. And it's paused again
  24. Games Workshop simply does not care. I am pretty sure that they won't change their selling method now or in the future. Each time a limited product (book, boxset, ...) is released we get the same drama. Its bitter, but I would recommend to accept it, since its just not worth the hassle
  25. Instant buy by @theSpirea
