  1. Cool note though, If a Lone Wolf fulfills his oath and is fantastically triumphant in bringing honor to his fallen back, he's a lock to be elevated to Wolf Guard because of it. So if you're modeling some pieces one or two being former Lone Wolves would be something very interesting to keep in mind.
  2. Greetings everyone, I'm looking for some advice on painting the main gun of the basilisk. I decided it'd be much easier to attempt separated (as seen) instead of together. Part of my problem is when i decided to pick out the paints for it, I'm a bit confounded. Firstly it's a gift for a friend, If it wasn't id probably just do something different. He wants it to look as 'realistic' as possible. Looking at it, At first I thought 'alright its a big gun, so i'll paint it like a big marine gun.' but honestly I think it would look quite boring being all lead belcher + shading. I guess I'm looking for tips on painting different parts of it different colors while keeping up with the realism. For reference the rest of the model will be done like Cadian camo because he likes that scheme quite a bit, but he wanted the main gun to be actually painted like a gun. Any advice you could give would be most helpful. (Photos for reference) p.s. I knew the glue is a bit rough around the two bottom connecting pieces, I had to remove it because of a mishap then that caused a problem, long story short I will certainly sand it and smooth it before i base it.

  4. So far these have been really awesome suggestions and I really appreciate, One new question I have come up is what is Personal Heraldry? Forgive me, I only came into 40k within a few years and I'm still learning a lot about all the factions (even the ones I love like BT and SW) I got the codex and read it but I don't remember any mention of personal heraldry or anything of the sort. Can someone explain it for me or have some sort of reference?
  5. I was doing some planing for a group of Black Templar coming up. Myself I like to stick to the fluff as close as possible in terms of painting and design. I came across a question I couldn't really find an answer to. The Non standard units, like Honor Guard, Ancient, Lieutenants, champions, etc. What color are their shoulder pads and trim? Ive seen some Gold trim on white, I've seen black trim on white. Ive Seen Black base with red trim etc. I guess I'm looking at guidance and conventional wisdom on the matter.
  6. Certainly no problem! I discovered them while looking for something else completely and I kept thinking "Wow there is no way this works this well" but surprise it does, and I have very much enjoyed it and like to rep them when I get a chance because I think they offer a great product.
  7. I ordered a mold from Happy Seppuku http://www.happyseppuku.com/Stamps.html It was pretty cheap (8 bucks?) and they have a ton of variations. Basically you put some green stuff on the top of your base, press it in the base, and presto. Paint it up and it looks great. I was cheap though and got 'broken earth' because i could paint it brownish or paint it blueish to make it look like Ice. the molds are big enough you can print several places so no 2 of your guys would have the same print.
  8. So I was reading up on current changes in the lore since things are actually happening now in WH40k and after the Siege of Fenris I'm left wondering were do they even recruit from? Last I read the Grey Knights have killed all the human survivors on Fenris, and the Space Wolves didn't exactly diversify their chapter recruitment process. Of the hip it looks like the Space Wolves are sol and on borrowed Wolf Time.
  9. Everyone, Thank you so much for your feed back. I am enjoying to the music IMMENSELY, a lot of new soundtracks I didn't know were good. The Company of Heroes 2 was really surprising for me, and I LOVED the Hell March from Red Alert. Please keep the suggestions coming, they have been very helpful and as much as this is for my friend I am having a blast do this. @Ulrik_Ironfist I'm a huge Sabaton Fan, so I am beyond thrilled to see them on this list. For what its worth I'll submit a few of my songs that remind me of them (from an outsider perspective). Metallica: Disposable Heroes The Monolith Death Cult: Triumvirate full album (warning heavy) Lastly maybe not a fighting song but certainly reminds me of them: A Perfect Circle: Counting Bodies like Sheep As for the modeling, shameless update. I got the Leman Russ together (Pictured). He had a load out he wanted but i convinced him to let me magnetize it. Now I'm onto the Basilisk and will paint them together.

  11. I hate to ask this, but can people here post some photos for comparison? All these techniques sound legit but I really need to see it to make a decision about my models.
  12. Greetings, I am not an Imperial Guard player, my first love is to the marines, but I do enjoy the looks and lore of the IG well enough. One of my best friends for nearly 15 years however is a huge fan and plays them exclusively. However he's moving far across the country soon and our days of great battles are over ( for now). However as a goodbye gift I want to do something for him. See I love modeling and painting, but he, he's a huge tactics guy, he puts them together but never does anything more then prime them. So as a gift I got him a basilisk and a Leman Russ and I was going to give them the full treatment and give them to him as a fair well gift. All that being said, I take awhile modeling, and I love to make playlist of songs to get me in the mood of what I'm doing while I work. It helps me when I'm painting my models to get into the spirit of it all. But since IG isn't really my schtick I have no clue. So what I'm asking you folks if you would be so kind is to help me out. Give me songs or albums that remind you of IG, heavy armor, or anything of the like. While I have my music preferences when it comes to everyday stuff when it comes to modeling it's completely different, anthems, ballads, symphonies, instrumentals, to me I love it all of it connects me to my model. If for you it's the Russian national anthem I'll throw it on the list. It doesn't matter what as long to you it has that connection. If you could drop me some of your inspirational music this will help me out a ton I promise and I'll do my best to equip him with the best IG models I can muster.
  13. jerrys I totally understand. I have yet to get any wulfen models for that very reason. I'm a big looks guy, if it doesn't look :cussing cool i won't do it, and the Wulfen models as are, are less then stellar for me, but those Primaris wolves you got look fantastic.
  14. Oh pics please when you finish it, i'd love to see them!
  15. Yes sir, in 8th edition more this happened from ( https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Ka%27bandha ) "M42, Baal system Set during the Devastation of Baal and the Indomitus Crusade, the Blood Angels and their successor chapters were defending against Hive Fleet Leviathan. The Blood Angels defense would not hold for long and as the final defense was broken something strange occurred. A Warp anomaly occurred and swept away the hive fleet. Every Imperial and Tyranid on the moon Baal Prime was dead and the skulls of the dead xenos were arranged so that they would create the symbol of Ka'Bandha on the moon. It would seem that Khorne had intervened and saved the remaining Blood Angels alongside the arrival of the Indomitus Crusade and Papa Smurf." I was going to have Aajz on the moon / skies above fighting Tyrinnid. Then that happens and 2nd company is literally erased. Part of the lore I was going to work on is the Company Captain and a few members of his inner circle trying to discover why exactly Aajz was their fighting and what happened to the members of the 2nd. One of the fluffy struggles would be finding acceptance not only as Primaris marines but the struggle to honor the previous 2nd company while establishing the identity and culture of the current. So many marine chapters have rich and varried cultures dating literally 10s of thousands of years of history but the Primaris marines lack that connection. They need both forge their seat at the table with the rest of the chapter while also ensuring it is distinctively their own.
