Recently I've taken the plunge into starting a lost legions project. This has been something I've wanted to do for a long time and I've put together a 3250 list to give myself something to work towards. It's important to me that I keep the list as legal as possible (mournival units included) and don't go invent crazy extra rules. I was looking to go blackshields, but they can't take RoWs and as a result, I couldn't keep the Legion theme alive as I couldn't replace bolters for fancy archeotech. The following is the logic that I've used to put the list together. - the Legion favours archeotech. So it'll use lots of grav weapons and volkites and shun bolters. This is why I have spent 270 points on combi volkites for the veterans and given rhino's combi volkites! - the Legion is themed towards Polynesian so they have mauls rather than axes on power weapons. - for IA rules, they'll just use the stock IA of Stubborn. - I've included a mournival unit (heavy destroyers) as they fit the theme of the Legion really well with their double volkites. This makes them feel like a legion special unit. - I've gone with vets as they're the last remaining guys and to get choom en mass. It stands to reason that anyone left would be a Veteran. I'm really hoping for feedback to make sure that it is OK (no surprise issues with rules) and that it'd be OK to play with and against.
