  1. (Was in the mood, why not...also this first post is the prologue, aka 'before the fight'. Its a little late so the actual 'battle of the heroes' will be posted tomorrow likely.) M41.999. One day after the fall of Cadia... ------------------------------------------- As a sector fell into Chaos worship, two heroes of the local Astartes Chapter meet on the volcanic world of Mustafar. But one was hero no longer; for it was he, alongside a long-corrupted Chaos Sorcerer who had planted the seeds of heresy within the powerful Librarian to be. It was Codicier Skywalker who led the now-traitorous Space Marines against the loyalist defenders of Coruscant, the last vestige of light against the now imploding darkness in four whole sectors. But his mentor, Epistolary Kenobi, sought to end this heretical destruction of his chapter, one way or another... -------------------------------------------- Codicier Skywalker stood on the landing platform, shortly after ending the lives of the Etheral leaders who commanded the drone-heavy T'au forces who were plaguing the sector. He was a hero of the local systems, renown in his chapter and nearby Imperial elements. He was the chosen one, the one who was stated to save the sector which the chapter was designated to defend, as per both heretical speeches and pure chants. Yet here he stood, power sword in hand. The same sword which slew countless loyalist Guardsmen and Astartes alike mere hours ago. In a desperate attempt to end the conflict, an Aeldari ambassador, Asuryani Amidala, arrived to Mustafar to not discuss, but beg the Codicier to end his rampage. As the xenos ship landed, the renowned Librarian watched in hopes that maybe, just maybe, his impossible and forbidden love would bring her with him as he conquered the galaxy in the name of the Dark Gods. In the end, it was not the alluring tenets of the Greater Good, nor the false promises of the Dark Eldar. It was not the impossible machinery of the Necrons, and it was not the warring Greenskins that finally pushed the Codicier to Chaos. It was the most human emotion possible, the human flaw which somehow persisted even through augmentation. It would've unbelievably romantic, if it wasn't the doom of a hundred worlds and a billion men who died defending them. As the Aeldari ambassador left her ship, she ran over and hugged the armored beast of a man. But it was not relief that the Codicier sensed, rather, it was worry and grief. "I was so worried about you...your brother Kenobi told me such terrible things..." Codicier Skywalker responded not with compassion, but with the tone of inquisition. "What things?" "He said...he said you fell to Chaos! I...I..." She shuddered as she sensed that...that horrible feeling. Being on the psychic edge of the Ruinous Powers, and their conduit... No, she thought. It can't be true. "...he said...you killed the aspirants...the children..." the xenos ambassador was truly a rare kind, one that actually gave a damn about human lives. Usually dismissed as the weak link or the mon'keigh lover, it was this quality that brought her to the attention of Skywalker in the first place. And from there... "Epistolary Kenobi is trying to turn you against me..." The Codicier said in hushed tones. This only served to confuse the Aeldari ambassador. "But...he cares about us..." She said with a hint of questioning. The earlier revelation was an interesting scene, for it was not everyday an Astartes Knight boarded a craftworld, much less without malice. Yet Epistolary Kenobi showed empathy and other strange emotions for an Astartes to have. "Us?" Again, the inquisitive tone from the Codicier. "Yes...he knows," She explained, even more worried. "He wants to help you." She looked to the ground. "...I just want your love, Codicier. It's all I want...its all I ever did. My species can continue to groan and bicker as they fade away...I don't care. Whatever kept me to them before, it is gone now." He laughed, with the dark magicks of Chaos swirling around his arm. She looked in horror as the facade of the noble Astartes Librarian was cast aside, and only a servant of the Dark Gods stood in his place. "But love...love will not save you from the death our miracle will bring you," he pointed to the bulged cloth on Amidala's torso. "...only the powers granted to me by Chaos can save you from that destiny. Change is but a facet of the power of Chaos, and with it we can change your destiny!" "No, it doesn't have to be this way! You're a good person...I care not if you are loyal or traitor, just don't join them!" She said, banging her fists against the harsh ceramite platings of his armor. "It must be this way, my love...I am becoming more powerful than any agent of the Emperor. With my newfound might I can save you...and we can overthrow that old, worn Sorcerer Palpatine." "I didn't want to believe what I saw...what I sensed, what I hear now," She said, in utter shock. "Epistolary Kenobi was right...you've fallen to ruin." "I WISH TO HEAR NO MORE ABOUT MY FALSE BROTHER!" He bellowed out, moving the xenos back from the sheer force of air. "The Loyalists...they, they would have you dead! Kenobi would have your head, same for all the Loyalist swine. Chaos will accept all, its not too late for you! Come see what I do, come be with me, officially. We need not be closeted with our emotions, it will be us at each other's side, ruling the galaxy together!" She shook her head, and began crying. Instinctively she clutched her spiritstone the moment he took a step closer. "You're going down a path I can't follow..." "Your species' gift to Chaos can be spared from claiming you...I can keep you safe from that ill-fated side effect. Or is it...because of Obi-Wan?" She could do nothing but shake her head in sorrow and despair, as Epistolary Kenobi appeared from the ambassador's ship. As he approached, Skywalker merely walked around the crying xenos, took a good glare at Kenobi, before yelling back at Amidala. "LIAR! You're with him...the loyalists! You've come here to kill me!" He screamed, grabbing Padme with his oversized, gauntlet-clad hands. Only the xenos's light armor and the enhanced biology of Eldar stood between her and death, before his former brother shouted in protest. "Let her go, Anakin!" He yelled, continuing his approach. "Let. Her. Go." "What do you care, Loyalist swine!" He shouted as he dropped the xenos, who was now unconscious. "You would've killed her, if you thought it was a better alternative to using her as a weapon! You turned her against me, for better chances at hurting me personally, before striking me down physically!" "I would never! You are my battle-brother, I would never harm you like that...and as for her change of opinion, you did that yourself." "You...I...I will not let you take her from me!" He glared, his fists clenching but not nearing his hilt. "Your actions and lust for power have already done that, brother," He stated, before beginning to circle around the fallen Librarian. "You have allowed this heretic sorcerer to twist your mind...until now, where you have become the very thing you swore to destroy." Skywalker growled. "Do not lecture me, brother," He said, spite evident. "I see through the lies of the Chapter. I do not fear Chaos as you loyalists do. I have brought strength, security, and the might of Chaos to my new empire!" "Your new empire?" Kenobi said in disbelief. "Anakin, my allegiance is to the Imperium, to the Emperor!" "Fine then, loyalist. If you are not with me...you are against me." "Only a heretic calls a brother 'loyalist'," Obi-Wan said, a warning yet spoken as if Obi-Wan only now began coping with the fact his former apprentice...was lost to Chaos. "I will do what I must." "You will try..." Anakin said, warningly.
