I read that the old Flesh Tearers had an inverted scheme for their Death Company, with the shoulders and helmet being red, while the rest of the body was black. My chapter, the Blood Suns, uses Flesh Tearer similar patterns, but they are normally Black shoulders, head, backpack, and leg greaves, like such. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8082/8399725341_a452956475_b.jpg The idea is the chapter uses the iconography of a sun/star. They see the Imperium without the Emperor and Sanguinus as being like a red giant star, that has expanded in size and gobbled up it's system, but is at the end of it's life and will soon lose it's heat and collapse on itself, therefore they are named the Blood Suns. Therefore, they see a Marine's life being like a sun that has gone supernova, or turned into a black hole - the Black Rage is a marine's desire to see the end of everything, and destroy it all. So to make it a look like a supernova and a black hole, I'm going for an inverted white and black scheme, but I want some feedback on how this looks, and if it would be striking compared to the above. I'll post some model pictures in the morning when people are awake and I can set some out. But what is everyone's thoughts on this? http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8229/8400814308_0bd0479300_b.jpg White color for the supernova imagery, and the black center for a Black supernova. The Red trim and Red chest eagle sort of keeping the basic Blood Sun third color, seen in the original. I love the alternative scheme for Death Company done in the book with the Angels Encarmine having white Sanguinary Guard as well, but I wondered if people think this would work on an actual model. Last consideration: I have a lot of those 3rd edition death company bodies that I'll be using for them models, and I have (with considerable effort) magnetized the backpacks to make sure they're flexible, so this is why I want to make sure I get the colors right. But if not, they'll strip easily being pewter/lead!

Flesh Tearers 5th Company - a firstborn truescale project
Guest posted a topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
I've always been a fan of the 'firstborn' marines rather than Cawls creations. The look of a marine with a mk. VII helmet and Godwyn pattern bolter has always been the mental image that pops to mind whenever someone mentions Space Marines. Having bought and had fun with an Elegoo Mars Pro 3D printer over the last month, I've decided to start a small project based on truescaling firstborn marines by doing some simple editing of the huge amount 40k STL files on websites such as cults3d and thingiverse, rather than the more traditional kitbashing/modelling I've tried previously. The benefit is having closer control over size and proportions of each model. I've chosen the Flesh Tearers simply because I love the colour scheme; that dark red and black look is brutal. There also appear to be quite a good amount of Blood Angel styled STL files online that will allow me to print some nice looking models and parts in the future. The first step is the simplest, find the stl models and change the scale to my liking and add supports. I'm still relatively a novice to 3D printing, so if anyone is alarmed by the seemingly excessive positioning of my supports that is why After some post processing the printed parts sit in a UV curing station for a few minutes. A printed legs and torso, to give an early sense of scale next to a cultist. A completed test model. Pretty happy with the scale although he may actually be a little too big, although not exceeding plausible lore proportions, as some firstborn marines are simply bigger than others. The only part of the Flesh Tearer that has not been 3D printed is the helmet, which is just a normal GW tactical marine mk. VII helmet. I also had to print some primaris arms as I could not find a model for the old school arms anywhere. Next up... reinforcements. -
What would people use as Gabriel seth:s armor mark? I think phobos is close but gravis is too much. Anything i could use as base to convert upon? Inspecting Reiver kit (that we all love) i noted the combination of metal gear styled pistol and knife holding pair, that could be used as base to hold his Blood Reaver in most natural pose wiht minimal effort. as arms, backback and weapon are separate bits, there ainĀ“t too much sawing to do, unless you want certain bits from the torso and legs. Slap me with your ideas.

I'm thinking of adding an allied force to my Flesh Tearers, so decided to write up the initial exchange between the commanders of these two forces, Gabriel Seth and the shadowy Obedarion. Just a couple of short pieces for fun, let me know what you think! I'll add more situations to these as the story progresses. 1. Obedarion Arrives 2. Seth vs Obedarion Thanks for reading!
