In my ongoing series to paint up individual models - first being an Ultramarine, second is a White Scar and now a Dark Angel arrives! It is an exercise to take a break from my armies but also to paint up tribute models to armies of note. In this case it's extra special because in days long gone I originally wanted to collect Dark Angels. I did do a very small 30k DA force before that was a proper thing and have come dangerously close to starting Consecrators more than once. About time I got round to green Dark Angels then? I've kept him more basic on the DA bits, as the idea is to paint up ordinary battle line Marines rather than anything fancy like 1st Company etc. The plan is to paint him up properly so that includes Tactical markings and the like, so I'll need to decide on a company. Last but not least any suggestions or tips etc for painting him up are welcome

For those unaware this is the second in my series of one off models, the first being an Ultramarine. I'm using this as a break from my main projects, try out different things and paint up a tribute to armies I like. So as you've probably figured out second up is a White Scar While sourcing bits I came across an old biker sprue (from 1997) and thought this was made to be, I've got him assembled ready for priming: I did think about changing the torso and altering an arm, but I figured that staying true to the old model would be nicer especially as a one off model who doesn't need to stand out from others. I may glue a bit more together like the torso and legs but the rest is staying apart for easier painting. I do have a reasonable amount of experience with white but I'll be testing out the Apothecary White contrast paint on a Grey Seer base (pot version) to see how it works. Fingers crossed it goes better than the Ultramarine did (had to repaint the blue...) What sort of things do I need to look at, such as company markings etc? If I'm going to do a White Scar he needs to be done properly As always any tips etc are welcome

I'm starting a small "inter-project" project to enforce a pause on all deadlines, armies, etc - sort of a hobby pit stop. It will feature one off models where I paint something different, try out new techniques and pay tribute to armies I like. First off are the Ultramarines, I grabbed some bits and short of final clean up and maybe an addition to the base he's ready for priming: I have a decent number of blues, and this will be my first time doing proper codex bits (my DIY chapter follows the codex aside from the visual parts, where they only use the white helmets for veterans). What company should I do? Anyone got recipes to share?

For those unaware I'm on a small quest to paint up chapters I have particular connections to or like of so naturally this will include the sons of Sanguinius! Back in the Dark Age of Hobby (sometimes known as "2nd Edition") I started with Blood Angels, still have the box set Marines somewhere in red They have black trims but I after that I was taken with the Blood Angel scheme on a later Tactical squad box (98 release I think it was?). I should try and find a picture somewhere for reference. A deeper colour, all red - and a beakie on top. As we all know MkVI is one of the best armour marks I made sure to pay tribute to that with another here I'm looking to prime models soon so should be able to start getting some paint on him before long, so that means sorting a painting method. I'm not unfamiliar with painting red but I'd welcome any advice or suggestions, plus of course anything for markings and company etc

As part of my ongoing series crusade to paint up various chapters of renown it's time I added a Black Templar I'm preparing a small collection of chapters for priming so hopefully I'll be able to get started on him soon: Aside from being pretty cool anyway, Black Templars have been a long feature for me in various forms since 4th Ed. I have the appropriately named Black Templar Contrast to try out as a different approach to my usual black methods, but any tips or suggestions will be welcome of course This extends to appropriate markings and the like - if I'm going to do a Templar he should be done properly
