What I'm working on at the moment

Desert Eagle, yah i agree it would make a good choice as Sammaels Command Speeder. and i play Rogue Squadron on Gamecube and you know it really does look alot like an A-Wing from above. to be honest i love the way the Tsunami looks. and i will be making quite a few of these. not sure about re-fitting the engine pods. i think maybe they would be better as they are, as to locate the engines somewhere else on the chassis would require a major rebuild. i will post up some pics of the Tsunami assembley process. give me a day or two as im working on some Dark Angel 3rd Battle Company Fallen Hunters. they are part of my Dark Angel SOG (Special Operations Group)

theres a pic of one guy i made up in the last 20 minutes or so.

Hey Kanan

hey Jed. thank you for the comments. i appreciate it. yah when i first thought up the conversion up back in 2003 i wasnt sure how it would look and i do remember using too much liquid poly on the join between the sponson and the Speeder chassis. now i am making my 5th and 6th versions of this design so i have smoothed out some of the kinks. all in all i am happy with the Tsunami as it stands. right now though i wanted to make some of my DA SOG so i have put together a few tonight.

catch you later mate

Stella Cadente, glad you liked my weapon conversions. are you still looking to sell your Dark Angels as there maybe someone on here who would like to buy them from you. not sure how you would go about it as you do not want to incur the wrath of the Holy Inquisition lol.

yeah there still being sold

  • 2 weeks later...

hey Stella Cadente, yah i like the Bolters with a fore-grip too i think i may make a squad of them later on. oh and my Fallen hunters are DA Marines who are inducted into the Deathwing so they know some of the truth about the Fallen and their betreyal. they are then formed into small squads whose sole purpose is to be sent on search missions whenever there are suspicions of Fallen in a location. they usually go with an Interrorgator Chaplain and they are not formed into standard tactical squads. they tend arm themselves according to what they feel is appropriate for the mission then they split up into 5 man squads.

ok this is for those of you that want to make a Tsunami variant Landspeeder.

make the speeder as normal. once you have a complete body minus tail and weapons, assemble your Predator Heavy Bolters* and then cut away the rivets on the inside. you will first need to place the completed sponson on the Landspeeder to dry fit them and mark where you need to cut your notch. once you have marked where the notch will go cut along the inside as on the left hand side of the pic then cut slivers of plastic away up to the mark you made with your scalpel. you want to cut away to a depth of just under 1mm.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t229/zrolimit88/DSC03574.jpg

now you are left with a completed sponson. proceed to glue this level to the side of the Landspeeder making sure that the top of the sponson matches up to the angled edge of the speeder body, that way you know you have a correct fit.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t229/zrolimit88/DSC03575.jpg

now you have added your Heavy Bolters continue to build your Landspeeder according to your own preference. i like to add some Ravenwing extras and also a chin mounted heavy weapon. apart from the standard tornado weapons you could also use a Multi-Melta from the Land Raider Crusader kit.

* do not forget to drill out the gun barrells at this stage

cheers Jed, i dont use alot of green stuff myself. only use it for gap filling really. having said that i would like to improve my GS-fu but i guess until i can make an excuse to sculpt something from scratch that wont happen. i have a link for a GS user guide i will dig it out for you and post it up here. speak to you soon mate.

Great stuff kanan. Silenced bolters are a great idea and look excellent, as do the Tsunami Landspeeder. You are a prolific builder, puts me to shame.

Keep it going with the great ideas.

wow, thanks Isiah, i really appreciate the comments. i agree silenced marine bolters do look the ticket and i am rather fond of making them.

oh and heres how one of the Tsunami variants im building is coming along. i am working at my converting desk but i keep getting side tracked with my computer, lol. so progress is a little slower than i would like. this particular Landspeeder is going to be a command vehicle.

I really like it, you've got me hooked on the idea of building one myself. I do have one suggestion. I think you should try to mirror the shield infront of the pilot on the gunners side aswell. Just leaving the sliding bar, or whatever it's called, without any gun looks kind of wierd in my eyes. Hope you don't mind that i cut and pasted a rough idea of how it could look in photoshop:

Jamie, you think too much? i was maybe hoping the Marine in the gunners side would be packing a Plasma gun too lol.

thanks Jed for the comment. oh and i dont think it has too much in the way of weaponry as you can field the Master of Ravenwing in a Landspeeder that has twin linked Heavy Bolters and twin linked Assault Cannons if you make the points cost fair it should be ok. anyways hows your conversions coming along?

Desert Eagle, you know thats a great idea. it really changes the look of the Tsunami. oh and i am glad my design is proving popular. i want to see more of these LS Tsunami in the future from other people. thanks.

That's one helluva speeder with those bolters and the TL-acannons. It's working really well. [Glad to see you've drilled those ac barrels too :(]. Keep it going.

thanks Isiah for the comments. and yah i do believe in attention to detail. so i have to drill out ALL gun barrels ect. lol. just the way i am. i spend so much time prepping miniatures before i have even assembled them ready for painting. but thats how i like to do things and im sure alot of you are the same. it just makes the final product shine a little more than if you miss out all the filing, drilling, gap filling, sculpting, ect, ect.

i am glad you feel the Landspeeder has come together well. im pretty happy with the overall result but like any modeller i am always looking for something else i can add to my creations. with the Tsunami though i am stumped. i think its almost perfect. i say almost because Desert Eagle contributed a great idea and i will be incorporating it into future Tsunami designs. so once i get the majority of my models built and undercoated then comes the final painting stage. and that will take a long, long time. im really looking forward to it though i have started painting the odd thing here and there just to keep my interest fresh.

well i was looking at one of my Tsunami and it seemed like it was missing something. anyways i added an autocannon from the IG Cadian Heavy Weapon Team. i would be interested in what you guys thought of it. to me it seems like the ultimate in mobile fire support. bit like an Apache Longbow for W40K. or even a flying Predator!

so people let me know what you think.
