dark angel stuff

Recommended Posts

hi guys !

it's been a loooooooonnnnnnnnnnng time i didn't post pics or comments here, but i actually work on my bretonnian army and some stuff for a friend of mine (teutogen guard, and maybe kossars).

my imperial fists are now in a box, waiting for better days, but i'm back with new stuff : a few dark angels minis, 'cause i'm fond of the look of this monk-warriors :

so here is a wip pic of my vets. i use them as normal tactical squad, mainly because i love their look, so i will do all my dark angels in tactical armor like this (sorry, bad light for this pic. real colors on the master's pic) :

c&c welcome, as always

wich log ?

- imperial fists are stored in a box, waiting for better days (1st company, led by lysander)

- imperial guard aree nearly finished : nearly 15 models to paint, but i started tanks and old cadian infantry (and maybe some rogue trader era guards...)

- bretonnians are on the wa, but i want to make a short break before continuing.

i'm fond of dark angels new minis, but i won't make a big army. so i started a 750/1000 pts army, just for fun, after painting some of them for my local gw store.

but the other projects are not forgotten, just set aside for a moment...

currently, i'm working on the razorback (must fill the gaps, and finish some battle damages before i start to paint it), and i'm workin on an old rhino, but i have a lot of plasticard work to do (extra-armor).

updates will be posted as soon as possible.

as always, c&c welcome

thanks for the comments.

for the robes, the technic is simple, but long...

base : graveyard earth.

highlight it with bleached bone to a 50/50 mix

highlight this mix with khommando khaki until you have a pure khommando.

highlight khommando with bleached bone 'til pure bleached

highlight bleached with skull white to a 50/50 mix.

finally, add a thin layer of watered brown ink.

Very nice, not personally how I highlight DA green, but hey, each to their own and the results are still great. ;)

As has been said, excellent robe work. How many layers of highlight is that, 9 or so? Put the time and effort in a you certainly do get excellent results. I'll add that recipe to my collection and try it out. (I'm forever trying to find the best way of doing a BB robe. Some come out better than others. See how this one fares. )

Love the plasma coils too. I've done red and green but not so much blue. Care to share a how to?

Nice work. :)

yes, it's nearly 9 or 10 layers. but with a wet palette, it's easier to do...

for the plasma blue, the color is a mix of 50/50 hawk turquoise and skull white, highlighted to pure skull white (maybe 4 or 5 layers), with just a layer of watered down hawk turquoise. then, the light effect is made with thin layers of a 70 hawk / 30 white mix. edges are done in pure white.

i'm not very satisfied with the result, but it's nearly my first attempt for light effect on weapons...
