Mark 5 Armour

Recommended Posts

No, absolutely no Word Bearers! I HATE marines with parchment and scrolls all over them!

I'm in the process of removing all of the purity seals from a squad of Terminators at the moment. I really wish GW would make the models WITHOUT the purity seals...

Okay, rant over. I think this model makes a great Khorne Berzerker, but I have decided that it definitely WILL NOT be one. I'm going to try out some other Chaos bits later on though.

I have 2 armies in the works currently. This is going to be a part of one of them, but which one I don't know yet. Updates later tonight.

This is a really cool project. I especially like what you've done with the backpack, gives me a few ideas for my own army....but anyhoo good luck in finding a colour scheme that fits. Looking forward to the finished product.

This a brilliant project that you've done really well... But, IMHO I think he looked a lot better as a loyalist Space Marine, rather than one of the more Chaotic variety... As someone said earlier, something like pre-heresy Salamanders would be awesome, as they are so uncommon in that guise...

But hey, that's just my $0.02, keep up the awesome work!

Does it look bone color? I was going for a desert khaki.

Oh well, it was my first time using the Marine Painter and I had trouble getting the exact colors I wanted.

I'm going for a desert scheme. Does it work? Is it the wrong color?

Let me know what you guys think.

What's the difference in the color scheme between Pre and Post-Heresy Night Lords? I always thought they looked the same, they just added bat wings to their helmets after the Heresy. I really like the Night Lords scheme, but I've never wanted to make an army of them.

Here's a variation of the first scheme I did. I made it darker so it can't be confused with bone.

How about the helmet stripe? Yes? No?

I haven't had much time to work on this model lately, but I hope to have it finished sometime this weekend so I can start painting it.

I like this scheme, I am not a huge fan of the warrior-monk aspect of the marines as a whole. I think it is more likely that some chapters are more "religious" than others and that there are chapters out there that are just hard-core killing machines.

This colour scheme would be one of those chapters!

The white stripe certainly stands out, perhaps you could use coloured stripes to indicate rank (white = BB, red = sergeant, blue?=captain ...)?

Regards,

T

I painted this a while ago and haven't had a chance to post it. I still need to paint the eyes and chapter icon.

Thanks for the comments. Since I started this, I've had 2 children, lost 2 computers, changed jobs and moved into a new place. It really didn't take me that long to work on this, it's moreso that I would pack my hobby stuff away for months at a time and only work on it here and there. I actually painted this 4 or 5 months ago after I unpacked it after moving. It had sat for months with just a white basecoat on it and I couldn't stand to see it go unfinished.

I painted the rivets on the shoulder with bronze and gold and I just didn't think it looked very good. Plus, most of the time rivets are painted metallic and I wanted something a little different. The paint scheme on this model came from looking at a lot of pictures of tanks and equipment used in the Middle East and I thought it looked more realistic to have the rivets painted over. Since the armour matches the base, I made the cables contrast the armour by giving them a dirty and slightly oily look.
