Adeptus Custodes

Recommended Posts

Excellent army capt.nuss I absolutely love it!

The dreadnought looks really nice but the legs make it look too humanoid. I know it's a bit late now but if you bulked out the legs so that they were much stockier it'd be spot on. ;)

Loving the NMM work, really nice job.

Is the dreadnought a convertion or complete sculpt?

The dreads from the gw page might look quite nice, but they have nothing to do with the way a pre heresy dreadnought should look. Don't get me wrong - i like them - but they look like inquisition, not like custodes. There are nearly 10 artworks of ph dreads from different capters, but they all look the same more or less. Really a kind of "big termi" way.

I guess shortening the thigh might be a way to go.

EDIT: I found such a pre heresy dread pic:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/Dreadnought2.jpg

Wrong chapter, but quite similar style. They have to look quite different from the actual dreads.

If I were to wager a guess..

Privateer press? One of the Warmachine Cryx to be more precise?

Nope. She's cyberpunk style, not steampunk. Could be infinity or urban war. *nerd*

There is nearly no sculpt about it, its almost just one of the guys from the inquisitor range.

Also: if you want to post larger shots I can host a few-shoot me a PM if youre interested.

Wow, thanks.

Im impressed someone is actually reading this stuff :-). But i guess the one overview pic is not quite worth the effort.

On we go to the next minis finished.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0394.jpg

This is Malcador, should be well known to the fluffnatics around here. He always wears such boring grey wizard clothing, and has nothing really special about him, exept the burning eagle staff and a bionic tube in his neck.

He`ll see the table as the Inquisitor of the force, as he is the highest ranking guy around besides the emperor himself.

I did a hell lot of blending work on him, as long as the King album from Elvis plays, but sadly you cant see it on the bad pics here.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0389-1.jpg

The tall and thin guy is an old navigator, quite usual to be seen around Malcador or any imperial Warp travel or Crusade, and also member of the high council.

He has to wear a hood because of his third ´warp´eye.

He´ll do service as henchman, probably ablative wound. :)

Here you see the Dread again, with added Details. I think im going to change the paintings on the weapon again, and add some more weapon choices, so updates will follow.

While I do want to join the crowd of amazed onlookers, I'd also like to take a moment to recognize a fellow Elvis fan!

And yes, these minis are amazing. I love your work, and thanks for sharing them with us all!

Hi, still in Fresno?

When you are back home, i guess we should meet at Wolkenmanns home, he owes me a whole lotta beer anyway, and im willing to share.

which models did you use for them? any pre painted shots?

Nope, sorry. But the 'how to' is in the german thread.

I dont wanna explain it here, the minis are way over the 'power armored only - border' anyway.

the navigator reminds me of darth sidious

Yeah. Damn cool, isn't it?

Just some small updates today - and only semi-finished anyways. They all need accents, jewels, nmm and so on to fit into the rest of the army.

Shes an improved version of the Sisters of Silence boss, and comes with removable Jumppack.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0405-2.jpg

Either used as Callidus, or - with jumppack - as Canoness or leader of the seraphim.

And these 2 guys are from the adeptus mechanicus- needed as medici and controller for the warbots to come.

 noone likey the minis? Ok, they are not done, but its the WIP Forum, is it?

Ok ok - next one:

This guy wears one of the very ancient versions of heavy armour, a mechanicus prototype at this time, and was just fun to design.

Fluffwise he's a Wolfblade or a guard of one of the Navigators, i'm not yet sure.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0408-1.jpg

In game, he'll be an Inquisitor in Termiarmor with Psicannon, or someone out of Malcadors retuine.

Sorry catp.nuss I didn't notice the updates :( and the new models are exquisite as usual! How do you make the power sword effect on the SOS boss?

If you're going for a medici in the Admech group, I'd recommend buying the FW Death Korps quarter master and use the servitor from that.

How long will it be before the army is completed?

 At least one last guy who still loves poor nuss.

The army would already be done, if i wouldn't have fit those damn paintjobs for money last two month. :) From now on its about 10 days of pure work to finish the thing. So sth. between 2 and 8 weeks :-).

To come are at least the standards as soon as i know what to paint on them, and 3 bots from legio cybernetica.

After that i`ll start a new army.

Then - from time to time the Tears of Medusa (my order) will get updates (even already painted, just not posted yet), and i will perhaps add more and more painting details here (the tabbards could use some, also the termi shoulderpads, aso.).

I like the Predator bits you've incorporated into this and your previous Land Raider. It gives it a very different look, but looks very appropriate with your army.

I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the second AdMech figure you posted. I love the rest of your army, but the second model seems to static, and not quite up the standard of the other fantastic models you've produced here. His backpack looks very good, but the pose of the model leaves something to be desired.

Also, I love the inquisitor with the shield as chest-plate. Brilliant idea!

I didn't see if you had answered it or not yet, but where is the model from? Would really like to know.

And good going with the army there, keep us updated

Absolutely correct. These 2 guys were just quickly painted and built, to take them to a tourney - so that they simply count as "painted". They'll both get a workover, promissed.

@captain maximus

A full army pic can be found 1 or 2 pages back.

I'll add a new one then the army is complete in numbers.

@SpudWhitman, faol, spoonsmack, spoonsmack

*takes a bow*

really nice to read u like the stuff.

@bob123

Do you earn your money as an artist?

Nope, not at all. Im software engineer.

Perhaps i'll do a comic about the custodes' or my orders adventures once :-)

It's gonna get siggyfied

No idea what that means... whats siggyfied?

OMGBBQ !! , lol anyways , been watching your thread , and congrats on your painting , conversions , GS etc . Good to see someone with a fine army , you must be proud.

Also why dony you incorparate more drednoughts ? or some sort of step by step , seeing as your skills are good and it would be amazing to see others to try your techniques in the B/C community . And you dont see any "real" pre hersy dreads . .

Good luck on the rest of the log , and once again congrats (Y)
