treadhead
ok this idea occured to me just after the grey knights went from a terminator squad to a full up army list its been percolating at the back of my mind ever since why cant the deathwatch be a full fedged field army heres the results of the musings so far the start of a deathwatch devstator squad http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/deathwatchdevastatorkillteamhbtechm.jpg techmarine to lead the squad and 2 hbs next is the first of the veterans, las-cannon & multi-melta marines http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/deathwatchdevastatorkillteamlasmmve.jpg and ive also made a start on the hq choice for the army http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/masterofthedeathwatch.jpg namely the master of the deathwatch backed up by 2 sergeants of the guard and a pair of plasma cannon terminators http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/sergeantoftheguard.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/plasmacannonterminator1left.jpg ive already completed one of the deathwatch squads for the troops choices and the leader for the second squad is almost done heres a pic of him http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/darkangelsdeathwatchchaplain.jpg and a link to the first squad over on work in progress http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progre...ic=3512&hl= ok thats all for now later on ill add in some rules for the recon bikers and the assault squads as well as the new weapons variants im toying with Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/ Share on other sites
treadhead
ok update time heres the devastators so far http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/deathwatchdevastatorkillteamhw-1.jpg the redshirts for the unit http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/deathwatchdevastatorkillteamrs.jpg and this is the banner guard http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/deathwatchbannerguard.jpg im thinking the banner will represent the death watchs oath not to leave the field until the xenos are dead and the apothecary is their to reclaim the fallen battle brothers gene seed for their chapter the unit will eventually be mounted in a razorback bits order arrived today so will be able to do some more work on them tonight Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1298088 Share on other sites
treadhead
more members of the ordo xenos have reported for duty first up is the enlarged 7 man terminator retinue http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwatchtermiesx7.jpg now the astute may notice thats only 6 the last was a little camera shy but i managed to get him in this shot http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwatchtermiesright.jpg and heres the rest http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwatchtermiesleft.jpg next is the start of the deathwatch recon bikers squadron http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwatchreconbikers.jpg and the almost complete (owing to the fact ive had him since he came out) biker chaplain who will lead them http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwatchreconbikerschaplain.jpg penultimatley heres the leader for the assault squad with a bit of paint on him http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwassaultlibrarian.jpg yeah i realise the bolters not the best weapon for a basically h-2-h character but i like the way it looks :P and his squad completely nude (paintwise at least) http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwassault.jpg and as a bonus heres the wip of the heavy flamer jump pack youll have to forgive the blutac ^_^ http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/dwassaultheavyflamer3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1493680 Share on other sites
Diddlysquat
Very nicely done. Are you doing any Veteran Squads, as in Power Fists or L/Claws? For my DW list I just used the Kill-Team specs for 2 squads of Veterans, and then just used the SM Codex for my Termi/Squads. Keep the Pics coming :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1493865 Share on other sites
treadhead
the full army list at the moment is HQ master of the deathwatch and terminator retinue ELITES banner guard dreadnaught (mortis pattern 2 x twin las) TROOPS 2 x deathwatch squads with 2 hbs, 2 L claws, a power weapon and a power fist in each squad as well as a techmarine and an apothecary (just count as regular troopies) FAST ATTACK assault squad recon bikers flail class gunship (still in the planning stages) HEAVY SUPPORT devastators predator phobos pattern (possiblity not gonna make it into the final rules set as plasma cannon sponsons might be a tad over powered) still in the planning stages are the inquisitorial and adeptus mechanicus elements of the force but im thinking skitari in the troops section with praetorian servitors as backup and electoo priests in the elites section for the ad mech and the regular =I= stormies/assassins combo for the rest of the list with the posibility of an orbital strike just for the fun of it if youre interested ive posted the work in progress codex over on the (strangley enough) w'i'p forum follow the linkie http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progre...ic=8404&hl= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1499350 Share on other sites

treadhead
Have been doing some work on the flail concept, heres what ive got so far fluff wise ive gone with your standard relic of the dark age of tech etc with the addition of being found in a stasis vault by an ordo xenos =I= after a 4 way investigation by the AM & the 3 ordos it was found to be free of any taint and resanctified as a weapon of the inquisition unfortunately the technology involved in its construction is so far beyond current imperial capabilities that it will remain a one of a kind faithfully repaired and mantained in its stasis vault until it is needed :) right onto the pics keep in mind these are the early wip shots http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/flailstage1front.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/flailstage1sideview.jpg and a couple of shots after id finished building the body and sarcophaguses underlying structures http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/flailstage2front.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/flailstage2side.jpg and a side on with the almost full load out just missing the second typhoon launcher lol http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b264/treadhead2/flailstage2sidealmostfullloadout.jpg next is some serious filling and filing followed by (possibly) some green stuffing (my gs fu is weak though lol) then i plan on making the mounts for the 2nd typhoon launcher x wing style underneath the 1st pair afterwards im going for a beer in the sun :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1569375 Share on other sites

krewl
Your conversion work so far is great, it will really have a nice ornate feel to it when there done with all those special conversions on almost every single guy. One thing does puzzle me though, why go through all this trouble to build al those units when their not codex legal? You must be quite shure that you will be able to play them against your friends,. It's just to much work to imagen them just sitting on a shelf. (P.S. Personally I just love the termies with plasma cannons, They look great, and are something I'd have loved to see in a real codex.) treadhead
Im writing my own ordo xenos codex ;) Got fed up waiting for gw to do it so ive been working on it for a year or so now and as soon as i finish the basic unit list and have playtested it ill post it in a new topic As for the plasma cannon check out a series of books by david weber and john ringo (i think it was them anyway) starts with "march up country" and features the best plasma weapons ive heard of in sci fi lol (seriously a malfunctioning plasma rifle takes out about a city block) and then there's the powered armour ;) great read and where the idea for the plasma cannon termie came from. If you've read the books the raised cannon is julian and the levelled one is gronnigan, if not give them a go at baen books free online section, love that site lol Part of the idea behind the army i must admit is just to go a bit nuts with the conversion and painting aspect as i usually just go for gaming standard with most of my stuff only doing the stuff i like to higher standards (ie anything that isnt smurf blue) and the odd hq or sergeant in my smurf armies Back on topic (sort of lol) im taking a week or so off the ordo xenos project to scratch build a centaur but will return to it before too long and im glad you like them :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1586419 Share on other sites

Lestat
Some nice models and conversions there. Just a quick question - what rules are you using for your terminators? I'm building a smallish Deathwatch army too using the stern/vanguard rules but was considering using the Deathwing rules for the terminators to represent the varying weapons as they are from different chapters. treadhead
well the stated purpose of the ordo xenos & deathwatch is to study, contain and then destroy the xenos, having said which the use of a single xenos as a retinue means you only get a single troops choice kill team and if you use any of the xenos unit options, then you would lose even that luxury although i might allow the demi (coff squats) urg to be included as a single unit with out the restriction, more than one and it would apply. onto the modelling/painting front have recieved various gubbins in the mail including the arms for the furiouso, a base with feet for the other dread and a chaplain dread with rock crusher arm, have also started work on a 3rd troops kill team led by a chaplain and made an inquisitor (AOBR captain  ) with a 6 man retinue, 2 veteran guardsmen with plasma guns, deathwatch veteran and 3 acolytes with death watch bolters, the army list now looks like this HQ Corin brakis with 7 deathwatch terminators brother captain Artemis (leading the purgation squad) ELITES 10 man banner guard (2 ml) Inquisitor with retinue venerable (chaplain) dreadnaught (ac, dccw) TROOPS 2 X 10 man deathwatch kill teams with the 3rd to do FAST ATTACK 10 man purgation squad including artemis (hf, melta) 7 recon bikers with an attack bike led by a chaplain (3 more bikers and a 2nd attack bike to do) Flail orbital gunship HEAVY SUPPORT devastator kill team (2 hb, las & mm) furioso dreadnaught (twin heavy flamers) dreadnaught (ac & ml currently) TRANSPORT (still to get) land raider probably the new variant (forgotten its dang name again) for the hq retinue eventually undecided wether to go with rhinos for the troops, banner guard and devastators or to use the Inquisitorial crusade rule i gave corin brakis and just use land raiders for every squad as with the new codex my ultramarine command & veteran squads cant use them anymore so ive got a few spares on the shelves Let me know what you think of the list/codex folks ;) as well as the models themselves of course will be adding new pics in a week or so Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/111584-deathwatch-army-pic-heavy/#findComment-1822012 Share on other sites
