Santoro
would this work on arms as well? It's not the best shot but I straightened the sword arm a bit so it was more pointing than hacking and I angled the arm holding the bolt pistol out a bit at the elbow. Just did another one yesterday also which I'll post asap. I would say yes. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/112647-technique-salt-dipping/page/2/#findComment-1710824 Share on other sites
Pyriel
Why on earth dont you just KISS it (keep it simple stupid)??? :D I do the same thing without the salt fuss. Simply use a coffee water heater. Lacking that pour boiled water into a cup, wait a while till its not boiling hot (tee warm is usually enough) and dip a plastic part into the water for 20 seconds and then using a simple thin fabric glove (like a thin fingered winter glove or even a leather glove) you can shape and bend the thing anyway you like without using pliars etc. Salt and pliars is just unnecessary and complicated to do a simple thing. Shortsonfire79
Note to others, I tried doing this yesterday. Make sure you try a BUNCH of times. I tried it once, and thought it was Okay. It wasn't...I put 2 sets of legs in the salt, which was too hot, so it melted to the plastic...so I have a couple of nurgley looking apendages now. Arms, legs... Captain Lysander Mckain
Tried it too. You gotta experiment a lot i'd say... Does the stuff with water work? Brother Captain Andrecus
If this hasn't already been added to the Librarium, could we perhaps add it? This tutorial is very helpful, and should be included in the Librarium, for sure. Brother Captain Andrecus
Ah! Nice. I looked but couldn't find it. I must just not have seen it in the list. Hemal
Issue with water is that water doesn't get quite hot enough to provide adequate malleability to teh plastic. Salt can get to a higher temp without being dangerous (i.e. melting or boiling!). TBH Sand could also be used - really fine sand might be as good or better. But if water CAN be used - its preferable as its probably safer to work with than really hot salt in a tin.... Techmarine Harkus
I'm so glad you dug this up Hemal. I know it's not PA but I've got some guardsmen to bend!
