would this work on arms as well?

It's not the best shot but I straightened the sword arm a bit so it was more pointing than hacking and I angled the arm holding the bolt pistol out a bit at the elbow.

Just did another one yesterday also which I'll post asap.

I would say yes. :)

Why on earth dont you just KISS it (keep it simple stupid)??? :D

I do the same thing without the salt fuss.

Simply use a coffee water heater.

Lacking that pour boiled water into a cup, wait a while till its not boiling hot (tee warm is usually enough) and dip a plastic part into the water for 20 seconds and then using a simple thin fabric glove (like a thin fingered winter glove or even a leather glove) you can shape and bend the thing anyway you like without using pliars etc.

Salt and pliars is just unnecessary and complicated to do a simple thing.

Note to others, I tried doing this yesterday. Make sure you try a BUNCH of times. I tried it once, and thought it was Okay. It wasn't...I put 2 sets of legs in the salt, which was too hot, so it melted to the plastic...so I have a couple of nurgley looking apendages now. Arms, legs...

Issue with water is that water doesn't get quite hot enough to provide adequate malleability to teh plastic. Salt can get to a higher temp without being dangerous (i.e. melting or boiling!). TBH Sand could also be used - really fine sand might be as good or better. But if water CAN be used - its preferable as its probably safer to work with than really hot salt in a tin....
