ron
Ron, from what toy store was the dozer from, i think i might use that! I found it at Walmart of all places on a simple Tonka Toy truck with electronic sounds. I've been cruising the toy sections of the local big-box stores for about 6 months now and found alot of things that came close but this one was spot on and under 5 bucks to boot. Brother Jobu
Guess my old bassie would qualify as the most converted powerarmor related tank that I've converted. Cheers I love this :P I like the way it looks as though it could be unmanned, makes it all the more sinister. I reckon Iron Warriors need to be converted - so many Iron Warriors armies seem generic, and it's conversions like this that give them personality :) Any chance of some more shots? Feor
My only really converted vehicle so far (apart from some very basic Extra Armour on a rhino or two), still PiP (obviously). Nothing terribly complicated, and I'm actually surprised it doesn't get done more often, considering how easy it was. (Note: it's also modular, so I can just swap it out into a regular Land Raider if I so desire) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/114375-vehicle-conversions-and-the-men-who-love-em/page/3/#findComment-1416635 Share on other sites

(Note: it's also modular, so I can just swap it out into a regular Land Raider if I so desire) I really like the missile launcher on top. Is that the launcher from a Whirlwind? What is the targeting mechanism from? (the one in place of the bolters) You play it as a Land Raider Helios right? I wanted to order the Helios Land Raider from Forgeworld, but it looks like I might be able to do it from stock GW kits. Take the missile launcher from the Whirlwind, turning the Whirlwind into a standard Rhino, or just buy the sprue seperately for $12.00 from GW. Can you put up some more detailed information on how you accomplish this? I really like it! Thanks!! *Edit - If it is a kit bash with the Whirlwind & the Land Raider it would be a lot cheaper than getting the Helios LR from FW - the Conversion from FW is $30.00 + $55.00 for the LR = $85.00 - or buy the LR @ $55.00 + $12.00 for the Whirlwind sprue = $67.00. Much better. I'd really like to know more. I want to have a heavy missile pressence in my DIY chapter. I just bought the Terminus (They'd actually sold out of regular Land Raiders leading up to Apocalypse :pinch:) and a Suppression Force, since the plan is to talk my opponents into using this in a suppression force anyways. Took the Whirlwind turret, it's got an inner ring on the bottom of the turret that's exactly teh same size as that hatch hole, so I just stuck it in the hole. The sensor is the Apocalpse Command tank bit for Space Marine tanks, glued into a spare hatch ring from Sisters of Battle Rhino(well, Immolator) hatch ring with the scanners trimmed down so they're not pointy. only other change I made was internal, the Helios has reduced transport capacity, so to represent that I built a crat of missiles inside of it, using the missiles you get on the whirlwind sprues. For what to do with the Whirlwind that sacrifices itself for this, your options are either Rhino, or, with the Heavy Bolters that would normally go to the Land Raider, you can make it a Razorback. I did that, but with Lascannons, since I prefer the lazerback myself. Galahad_Knight
I also have a couple highly modular razorbacks and a 'universal predator' that can convert to just about anything with a rhino chasis...but ascetically, they're just standard, boring vehicles. It's only when I start pulling bits off that they look interesting, so I haven't got any pics. chromedog
I put this together a bit over a week ago. It's a heavy walker (one of three for my Star Wars themed SM). I present the Corvus Pattern Battle Strider. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r221/chromedog/Star%20Wars%20themed%20stuff/IMGP00025Small.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r221/chromedog/Star%20Wars%20themed%20stuff/IMGP0020Small.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r221/chromedog/Star%20Wars%20themed%20stuff/IMGP0022Small.jpg It's bigger than a dread, smaller than a titan. Crewed by one marine, and is used in a scouting role in the mountainous regions of the chapter Homeworld, where tanks are impractical, and areas can be inaccessible to speeders. It's mainly an airfix "robogear" "Mad Bull" model, with some other gubbins added. I rotated the driver's pod from 'upright' to get a better fit, thematically. 'Mad' abdul alhazred is just there for scale - he's one of my IG ordnance charge carriers (who happens to carry it as a belt harness) he's a penitent. Yes, I know there are very obvious mould seams still visible. I undercoat in black to make them more visible to me. The bodywork has only been greylined to show the armour detail. I've still got to finish it and paint it in the very pale grey of MY IMPERIAL forces.
