What are your best conversions and ideas for them?

Just out of curiosity, what conversion(s) have you seen in Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines that stands out as the best, the most inventive, the most artistically advanced, even the most outlandish.

My personal experiences have led me to see many different conversions good and some bad. One of my favorites that I have seen would have to be a Warsmith of the Iron Warriors Legion. This particular warsmith was a very interesting piece of work. The creator used an ingenious way of converting a techmarine in full Servo-arm harness into a Warsmith with a Defiler base. He cut the techmarines lower legs and feet off and attached that to the connector joint of a defiler's leg plate. He then replaced the joint, forearm, and claws of the 2 from limbs of the defiler with twin stormbolter turrets. IF that isnt cool I dont know what is... :) too bad it is illegal in game terms... :teehee:.

So, what have you seen? Has no one ever seen a conversion that really hit them as unique, cool, odd, intersting?

There is an excellent brother on this site who creates some of the most perfect Nurgle tanks I have ever in all my 17 years of GW collecting seen. For the life of me I cannot remember the threads/brothers name. His work is inspired, using masses of milliput, GS, random tubing and so forth to create some truly sickening vile filth (this is meant in the best possible compliment!) :P

Im new 2 this forum but here goes...

i saw on the GW website a while back a pic of an unpainted librarian modelled 2 b using a psychic power. Wat this guy did was model a pair of flaming skulls twisting around the librarians outstrecthed arm. Blevive me, it looked amazing. :P

and btw can some1 plz tell me how 2 post pics :D

That was I think a conversion of Tigerius, the Ultras Libby aka "Tigger"! :P Was a nice piece of work!

Welcome to the B&C brother!

Just as a tip, spend an extra couple of seconds to type out your posts fully, text speak can lead to people lambasting you, trust me on this! :D

Here is mine (wich gets a lot of attention every time i take it with me.)

(Don't know if you would like to get an explanation so i just add one)

The following were used:

Plastic Dreadnought

Pair of Penitant (PE) engine legs

Fenrisian wolfhead or Juggernaut of Khorne head

Tau Battlesuit feet

Various bits (whichever you like ading)

Assemble the main body of the dread but do not add plate and exhaust to it. Cut the legs (keept the underlegs intact they'll be needed)in order to get the PE Legs fitted to it (takes some GS)

Assemble the front legs by taking the upper arm and combining them with the leg parts to extend them somewhat. Try to get the right pose as you put it together and finish this by adding the Tau feet and the Dreadnought feet to it. When it has stabilised (GS has dried enough) add the Exhausts/ Weapons/ head(s) etc to it and it should be done.

Lovely conversion, but you missed a bet there in my opinion. The use of an additional pair of Sentinel Legs, or perhaps even the arms from the new TechMarine's ServoHarness, with attached DCCW fists with longer 'claws', would make this look nastier. Mounting points would be either side of the AC, on the flat space above the vertical surface you placed the dread's name. I dunno about you, but a four footed, walking steel wolf-tank, with weapons and CCW arms would scare me!

Just a thought,

Oh, yeah... I should post a conversion too... okay.... converted Damocles Command Rhino (sorry for the bad pics)

I played a guy who had gone all out on his 40K in 40 Minutes raven gaurd army. He had marines with garrot wire and knifes in the teeth and his boss had a imp gaurd officer hanging of his combat knife about a foot of the ground.

do you have these in NONE Yahoo Flikr (or whatever) format? cus theres no way of seeing them, everytime I sign in it takes me to a blank page ;)

Hmm.... this is a tough question. As far as my favorite piece o' work is, I'd have to go with a single army. I can't remember where I found it online, and I don't seem to have any photos, but this guy had done a Scythes of the Emperor army, which consisted of the suriviors of the decimation of that chapter. Each model was posed and converted to be fighting 'nids, with each squad fighting a different breed, or under different circumstances. I loved it because the actions poses were perfect, capturing the fighting style adn the movement of the combatants, and it even inspired me to do a few like it, although they will never rival the sight of all those black and yellow marines on a scenic base.

This one is one of my favorites. I have started building my own based on BobPanda's hopefully it will turn out half as nice.

 hehehe, I love the idea of a 4 legged wolf dread..... one of my firneds have been a wolf player for years and I shocked neiother him nor myself have thought of that! Cool stuff!

I'll try and get off my lazy butt and post my WIP chaos Lord.....

-Hak-

This is my latest dread, still working on the base of it as well as final touch ups, but I'm quite pleased with it overall.

That said, it's nowhere near as cool as some of the dreads that have already been posted.

I think this will be my favorite conversions. The LRC i´ve made as a driveable relic shrine for my Grey Knights.

Not that spectacular like the work from BobPanda and spacefrisian, but i like them. BobPanda your works are great. And hey Driseamail cool idea to mix up a dread with a sentinal.

Kind of reminiscent of the old ED 209.

I'm currently in the process of converting a Dread with variable geometry legs. 'dual mode' for tracked movement or walker movement. If anyone's ever seen any of the walker/tank minis from the game 'Gear Krieg' that's kind of what I'm working on. I'm scratch building some tank tracks and housing attachments on and around a pair of sentinal legs.
