Brother Morgan
I thought I'd share with you how I make Space Marine "Chopper" Bikes. R'qd: Space Marine Bike (bought very cheaply from ebay in this case) Bolters on handlebars were removed due to dislike Plastic Tubing (4mm diameter by 9mm long). This can be varied depending on how long you wish to make the bike http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2811.jpg Components ready to be converted. Razor saw the front wheel as can be seen in the picture below: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2812.jpg Front wheel removed. Razor saw the handlebars (dont' saw all the way though. Leave enough to still have them attached to the body of the bike). You need to pivot the handlebars backwards so that when you attach the front wheel again, the wheelbase will have been lengthened. I also filed flat the stump left by removing the front wheel. This makes sticking the plastic tubing easier. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2813.jpg Handlebars pivoted back. Tubing attached to front wheel. A little bit of milliput to fill the gap and the front wheel was re-attached. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2815.jpg Completed lengthening process Here are a few snapshots of one of my Veteran Sergeant bikers completed for my Legion of the Dead. The bolters on the front wheel are taken from the Storm Bolter (sawn flat) from the Hatch sprue of the predator/rhino/land raider kit. The skulls and bones are taken from Warhammer Skeleton Shield Sprues. The Front Light is taken from the Rhino Mk1 kit. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2816.jpg Right Side View http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2817.jpg Top View http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2818.jpg Nearly Frontal view http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2820.jpg Left Side View http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2758.jpg Chopper Squad 1 Who said you can't have fun in 10 minutes! I plan on making lots of these when I can get enough cheaply from ebay! I plan on making an Attack Trike Tutorial as soon as I get a brand new Attack Bike kit. In the meantime, here's a completed one: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/IMG_2795.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/118757-modelling-how-to-make-space-marine-chopper-bikes/ Share on other sites

jhedwards
Wow - ok well i have metal wire of that diameter somewhere at home - will certainly give it a go.. my only concern is how strong the join is either end of the plastic tubing can it take the weight without buckeling.. though not sure about the faring on the front (as i dont have spare headlights).. might have to do without :P cheers for the great tutorial. john Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/118757-modelling-how-to-make-space-marine-chopper-bikes/#findComment-1369579 Share on other sites
Meticulous
Hey, that's how I make my choppers too. Except mine have absurdly long spokes. They look quite silly and quite awesome at the same time. Stryker25B
You know, I never much liked SM bikes for some reason, but after reading this I think I'll dig out my half-finished ravenwing and give it a go! Such a simple thing to do with awesome results!
