Well I finished up the front end of the landspeeder tonight and I'm hoping to start in on the back half and finish it up this guy over the weekend.

well after painting like a fiend yesterday and today, the speeder is nearing completion.

All that remains is the pilots arm and the base for this critter. I really need to figure out how to blend better with bleached bone and white. seems that those are the only colors that really give me issue. after this back to my regularly scheduled rhino construction....

well here are the shots:

Thanks!

For those dark bronze parts it's pretty simple: basecoat black, paint over it with a couple of layers of tin bitz, highlight with increasing amounts of boltgun, and the apply several coats of black ink until it gets to the shade you want.

Ok, the speeder is finished. Just have to seal it once the weather settles down this weekend. Ok now back to the rhino.... or perhaps another tac squad. Here are the pics of the finished model. C&C welcome!

Well I'm finally back to painting marines. I managed to get enough progress on them that I feel comfortable posting. Please no comments on the bronze, especially on the aquillas and belts. I tried the new GW primer and it left the surface very gritty which nearly ruined the torsos. At least the should pads, arms, backpacks, and bolters will nearly cover all of it and hide the problems.

hey Vaaish, they are coming along nicely, I hate it when the undercoat goes grainy/lumpy like an orange peel, I thought at first it was just the paint it self and could be fixed by stripping and re applying but I have found that it actually effects the plastic. does anyone know why this happens?

Oi, glad I didn't try to strip them to fix it then... would have left me even more annoyed.

Small update: finished arms and weapons and glued them on. Also got the rest of the bases base coated. Tomorrow I have to finish the base coat of the should guards, and bases. Hopefully I can finish the guards up by tuesday after which I'll have to take a break to finish up the 3 dauntless cruisers for BFG if the pieces come in.

Thanks! I'll definitely be posting a pic of the army here soon, but I'll probably wait until I finish the third land speeder. Then I'll actually have something like a 500 point army done!

More progress on the marines. Going a bit slower since I'm prioritizing a set of three dauntless cruisers for an upcoming battle next weekend. Despite that I don't think it's ambitious to predict finishing these this weekend as well. Bases and left should guards done in this update.

And the BFG dauntless' that are being painted at the same time.

And they are finally done. Nothing special on these, just line troops. I may go back and touch a few bits up like highlight the metals on the packs but I'm calling them done...which means I finally have a playable army! not efficient by any means but at least legal!! next up is to finish the lascannon trooper and on to epic bits before returning to do another old metal speeder.

and the army as it stands now.

Thanks! Now I just have to go out and seal them tonight. It really feels pretty good to get two 10 man squads done and know that I have the core of the force done. From here on out it's just adding to it. . . A little slowly perhaps as I wait for the new codex before all the rhinos come out to play ;)

It's been quite awhile since I've posted marines. I'm not dead yet! Been taking a break while waiting for the new codex to paint up epic guard and more BFG and terrain, not really power armor related so no updates over here. -_-

I've nearly finished up another of the old metal speeders and I'm running into a bit of a conundrum. I'm doing this one as 1st company and it's supposed to be the most ancient speeder my chapter has. That's why it has the cross fins instead of the spoiler the other ones have. Where I'm a little stuck is figuring out what to add to it to help denote the age. I thought about weathering it but decided that paint and painstaking care would eliminate that. Right now I'm down to maybe add some writing on a few of the flat planes and purity seals.
