from all the fluff behind the marines from GW books specifically black library publications keeping equipment clean and repaired seems paramount,so i think such a revered vehicle would be well maintained with battle damage kept to a minimum,as our military schooled members might agree "you gotta look after your equipment so it can look after you".

therefore i would go with the purity seals ,scripture ,campain badges and maybe some kind of banner(tomb skeletons do a good egyptian looking one)

anyway fantastic stuff as always

Thanks for the suggestions, I've gone ahead and put on a few purity seals and some script. the glyphs say Living Eternally which seems appropriate for the speeder.

Well this isn't my main army but it is epic and it's marine, so here are the 8 imperial fist land raiders I finished today for my epic army.

and a closeup of one of them.

I've got a couple of those old Land Speeder kits myself. Looking at mine, there's huge amounts of hard to clean flash and mold lines. Fantastic job on cleaning them up, and even better work on the paint job!

Thanks. I'm not entirely happy with the yellow yet, I'd like a little bit more contrast and it's a little difficult to get the washes smooth. Basically it's base coated white, undercoated with sunburst yellow, and washed liberally with the new sepia wash. After that dried I just went over it with a white drybrush to highlight and washed it again with sunburst yellow to tone. the rest is weathering.

Well the discerning among you may say that speeder looks familiar, well that because it is. The new bit is the typhoon launcher I constructed yesterday. Next up is a rhino that has been languishing for months now ot three dauntlesses.

Thanks! It's a bit of a complicated prospect, but the general idea was I drew out the look I wanted first and then created an actual size sketch which I used to cut plasticard plates to form the outer shell and inner pannels. I used a drill to make the holes for the missiles to inset into the tubes properly. The trickiest part was probably making the missiles which required me to put bits of plastic rod into a dremel and then shape it using a file. After that it was a matter of assembling it, filling gaps, sanding down, making panel lines with the back of an xacto knife, and inseitng the magnet before painting it up.

And my epic diversion continues... next up on the list were 4 dreadnoughts. Got these finished up in good order tonight and they will wait on good weather and two lance dauntless before getting sealed though.

Same technique, but with a catachan wash over it to attempt to make a bit more ocher shading.

after the lackluster performance of my fine detail brush at this scale, I got a new brush to do the chapter symbol and lettering. Works great and I was even able to add text lines to the purity seals.

Well busy night, got the tac detachment done and decided to start in on the three thunderhawks. Epic Marines go so quickly compared to other stuff. I'll probably get back to my 40k marines shortly, it's just that these guys go so fast that I'm almost done painting the 3500 point epic force!

I've finished up three epic thunderhawks, and I just have to try to seal these tomorrow and it's on to the IG infantry company. Unfortunately this is where my marines will end (epic that is) for the time being until I either attempt to convert enough missile troopers and sergeants or find someone willing to part with a few loose ones.

Thanks. Well not exactly missile guys, but the devastators with the shoulder mounted heavy bolter looking weapons. I may eventually attempt to use some short lengths of tube to create them if none are available.

After a break for some time from my 40k marine army because of about three epic armies and BFG becoming more palatable than painting endless layers of Khaki, I'm back with a missile trooper to replace the lascannon gunner in my 2k list. In other news I've gotten the missile troopers I need so I can get to work on the epic dev detachment.

All of you might notice that almost all of the images are gone in the thread. MY webhost unceremoniously died and their tech support won't even pick up to find out whats up so I was forced to switch after 4 days of down time. If any of you have any of the images that were in this thread saved, I'd greatly appreciate getting them from you to upload to my new server.

Thanks!

Well, since I was reaching the maximum bandwith on my Photobucket account, I made another! (shorsonfire80) and bulk uploaded all your stuff. It would have been hard for me to email 71 pictures..so you can right click>save them. I uploaded them at 17", so that they will fit the maximum size. Also, tell me when you're done, so I can delete the subfolder.
