kikkala
@Hubernator They say that rolling stone never gathers moss (at least I think there's saying like that...) ;). The spike is a bit off, I'll adjust it to a better position at some point. @TAS And what a glorious day that will be... :). The artscale possessed will be mini-diorama from certain picture from chaos codex, check pg. 29 ;). @Sons of Horus Thanks mate ;). Aaand todays progress: started working with right arm, luckily I found spare terminator arm :P. Arm position might seem funky at least for now, when current gs hardens I'll properly attach it to the torso. The Angelus Sanctus
Since i've noticed you've done it a few times now, how are you creating the the 'boned' texture effect? Â I'm assuming it's a caes of covering the piece in GS and then using a sculpting tool to "pick" at the GS until you can raise it up. kikkala
Hmm, how I could I explain this... first I make a flat area with a gs. Then I used sculpting tool to like you said carve area to resemble 'ribs'. Curving the 'ribs' will give it a nice finishing touch. With the right shoulder pad procedure is at first similar but instead curving I flattened them to one direction to give it more 'jagged' look. What was on todays schedule? Further work with the arms. Left arm particularly is only chopped, pinned and glued on. Plus minor gap filling. The Angelus Sanctus
Can't remember if you have (i think you have) but given your current GS skill, think of ever making any more Obliterators? kikkala
@Xavier Targhost Thanks mate :), I'll post a comparison pic with next update. @DuskRaider Everybody seem to enjoy death of the tau ;). @TAS I have one modified obliterator, couple of pages back, if my memory doesn't fail me. I've been pondering adding third obliterator to my list, maybe in the future :P. Continuing with possessed. firestorm40k
Glad to see you're back working on this army, kikkala. kikkala
Whoops, I've been inactive again, shame on me. :P Life has been hectic recently, but during this week the gs bug bit me again. When gs bug bites, there's nothing else you can do than sculpt, am I right? :P Artscale possessed misses some details, like fancy armor edges, couple of them were sculpted long time ago. Have I posted a comparison pic here already? Don't remember at the moment, but here's current one. And what else? I'm updating my army list and couple more units are being made. What could this unit become :D? Oh, I've heard about this thing called "The Golden Bolter"... I'm intrigued. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/22/#findComment-2171529 Share on other sites
Ferrus Manus
Nice to see you around again Kikkala! Great GS work, Â and the last model is going to be an Obliterator (sp?) right? kikkala
Thanks Ferrus Manus :). You got that right, obliterator it is :P. Â Small update... or actually no updates this time. I ran out of GS, so I'm unable to do anything. No worries, I ordered loads of GS yesterday, so expect more updates later this week. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/22/#findComment-2173419 Share on other sites
The Angelus Sanctus
Your GS work i'd say is of the same quality as the current Possessed sculpts, well done :D Â Hmm, as for your "mystery" unit, i am leaning either towards Obliterators or Terminators :eek Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/22/#findComment-2173574 Share on other sites
kikkala
Thanks TAS :). I wouldn't compare my possessed with gw's possessed sculpts, I have a lot to learn still :P. Oh, the pain that won't go away... the gs that I ordered last week still hasn't arrived, and you can imagine how my weekend went... :) Well, to kill the boredom, I painted 2 old models. Don't ask why they're black legion... I was in black legion-mood :P. Montuhotep
One is a stock Chaos Sorcerer. T'other is Ahriman with a new head and blade unless I miss my guess. Drudge Dreadnought
The Aspiring Sorcerer from the thousand sons box and the other is using Ahriman's body, plastic backpack with the gargoyle heads from vehicles, swapped bolt pistol, sword from chaos knights, and head i don't recognize. kikkala
Yep, let's see, the left one is stock aspiring sorcerer from thousand sons-set and right one is kitbash of ahrimans body, bolt pistol, chaos warrior sword and the head is from MaxMini. Thank the gods of the warp! The GS finally arrived, Wohoooo! :( Let the furious sculpting begin! Here's obliterator with new arms. And I'm getting started with my Golden Bolter pieces as well ;). If I've understood, I can post wip pics here, but not the completed ones. For squad category I've been tinkering with 5-man wb squad with flamer and icon, and the champion will be wielding chain axe, like champion Khalalix from Dark Disciple-novel. Wondering the gs in the torso? Both front and back piece were carved really bad during the past, so I'm just filling and fixing :D. I'm not sure what helmet I should use. I could use a chaos-fied maxmini head long time ago, or pick some other helmet. kikkala
Ok, moving on. :P The upper body position of oblit was little bit off, some choppin' and gap fillin'. Here's a comparison pic with gw sculpt oblit, I might have succeeded imitating the gw sculpt :). And here's GB-project squad leader, luckily I found suitable head, and little bit gs. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/22/#findComment-2185187 Share on other sites
The Angelus Sanctus
Lookin great as always Kik :D Â I quite like that you've made the attempt to create your own Oblits, definitely adds a bit more character to your army as a whole since you won't have the same three models appearing several times over. Should be interesting to see what the final painted version of yours will be compared to the GW versions. kikkala
Thanks TAS :tu:. Call me crazy (and cheapskate), but I don't want to almost 20€ for one mini anymore :P, and I have tons of old models I can convert pretty much anything I need :D. Thus I save money and my converting skills get better each time I make something new :). Updates with aspiring champion. Sculpted tons of stuff this time, armor edges, ragged tabard, latros sacrum to right pauldron. And turned the backpack to chaos pattern one too. kikkala
Thanks Cassarus . Some progress today too, filling some gaps, some impurity seals, and little pouch. I could have used plastic pouch, but where'd challenge be? :D This one should be paint-ready before sunday, I'll be painting whole squad as whole, and I ain't posting them here, as per rules :D. The Angelus Sanctus
I'd hardly call you cheap for the work you've done. Better to use the money you are saving in materials (plasticard and GS) and put those old bits and pieces to some really good use, which you have done to one real crazy level (good crazy of course!) Â Looking forward to seeing your awesome work as it progresses! kikkala
Thanks TAS, sorry for the late reply ;). Golden Bolter project is still alive, for those who wondered. I haven't updated in a long time, lots of exams and school work you see. Here's second member for squad category. A flamer specialist, which has already some painted areas :P.
