Welcome to our newest project.

The goal of this project is to create new datasheets representing formations and legendary units for Apocalypse.

Each datasheet will be developed as an individual topic (rather than all of them congested in the original topic).

This project will be much more hands-off compared to previous topics. There will be no arbiters or people in charge - development will be by consensus. This means that there will always be dissenters. If it turns out that you're ever in the minority (and you will be - I know that I will be), suck it up and accept that you've been out-voted.

Each "finished" datasheet will be converted into a downloadable pdf and will also be posted to the Librarium.

It's clear from some recent posts that a little bit of guidance is in order.

First, to reiterate what was said in the initial post above, no one is in charge of the various datafax ideas. This means that there is no ownership. Regardless of who initially posts an idea, no one individual gets to say who is right or wrong. This means that decision is by consensus, and consensus takes time. Even the individual who initially posts a datafax idea has no control over the discussion.

A corrolary of this is that disagreements are going to be a fact of life with these discussions. No one has any right to casually dismiss points that they disagree with. Resolution of disagreement will take a bit longer than a single post counterargument, unless the majority quickly points out a majority decision on any contested point. So members might not like some arguments, but they must still deal with them. Civilly, constructively, and humbly.

This means that discussions will most often take considerable time as proposals and points are debated until a consensus is met.

Whenever a datafax discussion reaches a viable conclusion, the discussion will then be turned into a true (but unofficial) datafax available for download and printing. We'll include a very clear and visible disclaimer at the bottom so that the unofficial nature of the datafax is communicated properly.

There have been numerous ideas that have been posted here multiple times, as well as ideas that basically duplicate official datasheets.

What I'm thinking about doing is creating a listing of all the B&C appropriate datasheets, official datasheets in one post/thread and homegrown datasheets in another. We wouldn't list the actual rules, but would give basic information on the background and formation (in general terms). Those that appear in White Dwarf would have the issue listed (each country's White Dwarf). Those that are available at the official web site would be linked. Those that are homegrown would have a link to the discussion.

Members could add new ones simply by replying to the thread, and one of the admins/mods could then add the entry to the main list.

Does anyone think this would be worthwhile?

I ran into the same problem and ended up making a Microsoft Word Document that I use as a template. It's a finicky thing, though, and requires substantial manipulation and expertise in Word in order to produce a finished product, otherwise I'd post it here for download. Perhaps when I have time I'll create a few variations to cover the different formats of official datasheets that I've seen and make all of them available for download.

In the meantime, this "project" has really stalled. What I'd really like to see is some finished datasheets actually come out of this. I still have to create those for the winners of our competition, but there are probably at least a few others that are "finished".

If you see any datasheets discussions that you think have reached a "finished" point, please post a reply in the discussion and say so. Note that one requirement before we can turn any proposed idea into a datasheet is pictures of painted miniatures. While the official GW images are nice, it's better to have our own images. I won't accept silhouettes, line drawings, or other substitutes.
