esinhorn
Note that many of the links below are dead, though an update is provided in post #40. This is a guide to help anyone both new and old to the Forums by making a list of parts and links to make acurate Heresy Era Troops most of the links do not work anymore because the guide was made when you could still order bits, but it still gives you an idea Part I ARMOR The definitative armor guide http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...;showarticle=43 http://z10.invisionfree.com/Pre_Heresy/ind...p?showtopic=376 MK1 thunder Armor http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...1&orignav=9 The Red Scorp sgt chest w/ the aquila is also a modified mk1 The Head/w shades from the IG heavy weapon team + topknot from either orks or chaos make a good mk1 head MK2 Crusade Armor The only one I know about is this guy http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...3&orignav=9 MK3 Iron Armor quite a few bits here the Warsmiths body http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...6&orignav=9 http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...0&orignav=9 http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...4&orignav=9 The chest from the tac sprue with just the skull on it can be converted with some g/s also the red scorp mk4 chest with the cables cut off too The company champion head from the command sprue and also the 2 from the black templar upgrade 5th row down 3,4, & 5 http://www.tvxc.org/minis/head_cyran.jpg The heads from the Iron warriors have a few mk3's as well http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...8&orignav=9 http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...6&orignav=9 http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...6&orignav=9 The Master of the Arsenal http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...&GameNav=10 MK4 Maximus Armor http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...6&orignav=9 The Red Scorpian upgrade kit(give you 10 chests and heads) http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/copy_..._SCORPIONS.html There is a head and body on the black templar sprue 1st row last on the right http://www.tvxc.org/minis/head_cyran.jpg MK5 Heresy Armor http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...4&orignav=9 there are also 2 heads on the chaos tac sprue that isn't quite mk5 its not quite mk7 either also the assault marine chest with either g/s or guitar wire works well http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/wil.../Picture536.jpg MK6 Corvus Armor otherwise know as the beaky has two main distiguishing factors the legs have no needpads and a left studded shoulderpad. 4th row 3rd from left http://www.tvxc.org/minis/torso_cyran.jpg This is the only true mk6 piece the chest with the 4 cables is technically mk5 but is a very good standin top row second from left http://www.tvxc.org/minis/torso_cyran.jpg left arm with bolter http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...0&orignav=9 Part II WEAPONS For Pre-Heresy Weapons I find it easiest to buy these weapons sprues direct from GW These two have good chainweapons http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...5&orignav=9 This one is very good Old stlye Plasma Pistol,Hand Flamer, and heresy era bolt pistol http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...4&orignav=9 This one is a Bolt Pistol with arms and shoulderpads http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...7&orignav=9 This one has 3 sets of Bolters,Backpacks,Blades, and shoulder pads http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefr...1&orignav=9 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/ Share on other sites

Brother Shrike
MK6 Corvus Armor 1 row second from left and 4th row 3rd from left http://www.tvxc.org/minis/torso_cyran.jpg everything you need to make a set comes with the tac squad the chest with the 4 cables is the one you want this is actually incorrect. the tactical sprue doesn't have a mk.6 torso. that is a mark 4 torso i believe (maybe mk 5) but the only mk 6 torso in plastic is on the SW sprue. mk 6 armor has 3 cables. one vertical, the other two on either side, sloping away. here. and here Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/#findComment-1437722 Share on other sites
esinhorn
Thanks I updated the info for mk6 Your right the SW sprue does have the only mk6 chest But the one with cables in the tac sprue is a good stand-in It looks to be modified MK5(which would still work for Heresy era) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/#findComment-1437968 Share on other sites
Vodunius
actually thats incorrect, Mk7 'Eagle' armour is so named because it commonly bears an Eagle on its chest plastron, most people therefor simply label the eagle torso on the tactical sprue as Mk7 with just a glance, but if you actually look at it you'll see it has the same belt buckle and power cables as the Mk6 torso on the Space Wolf sprue, and on the 3rd edition sprues the eagle torso was with the beakie head.. so its basically a Mk6 with a chest plate bolted on. Brother Shrike
Also, Mk 6 has a different backpack than Mk.7. look at the armor article above. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/#findComment-1439350 Share on other sites

Lord Noble
mk 6 armor has 3 cables. one vertical, the other two on either side, sloping away. here.and here If we're going to nit-pick, even your description and example (while not completely wrong) are incomplete as the Original RT plastic Marines had three cables which connected to a box in the middle of the chest, which then went into a single cable connecting to the belt. Take a look:Scan of RT Plastic Sprues Enjoy! -J Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/#findComment-1441903 Share on other sites

Also, if you look at the Mk 6 metal armor here and here, you'll notice that the bottom (4th) cable has been dropped. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124949-pre-heresy-bits-guide/#findComment-1442424 Share on other sites

The Warmaster
Oh, for all the Pre-Heresy Ultramarine players, the Tyrannic War Veteran with the bolter and grenade is wearing a modified Mk. IV torso, and the Chapter Ancient is wearing a blinged-up Mk. IV suit with Mk. III helmet. - N.
