All of the gw-store links in the opening post don't work!

Does anyone know where i can find older Mk's of Terminator armour? Are there any about or should i start getting my g/s and plasticard ready lol? Thanks

A pre-heresy terminator, i believe it is called "cataphract"

http://img130.exs.cx/img130/276/final_cap.jpg

I hate to say, but that Heresy era Termie armor is quite fugly...

I guess I'll have to make a few tho.

Simple question: what's the best marl armor for Space Wolves?

"cought, cought" links for this thread and broken "cought"

"cough" please fix "cough"

GW totally changes its web pages... They are now much slower and ugly and its really hard to find there sth... For bits you can search for example at http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/ and http://www.thewarstore.com/battlewagonbits.html

If you're looking for Pre-Heresy Bitz, you'll find that the current miniatures range is full of them. Little Pre-Heresy Bitz guide...

-The Iron Warriors upgrade pack contains corrupted Mk2 and Mk3 helmets,

-the Iron Warrior Warsmith is wearing (for the most part) a heavily corrupted Mk3 suit,

-the new sternguard veterans have Mk5 (legs) and Mk6 Bitz,

-the new Chapter Masters are wearing parts of ancient armour, containing a nigh-full Mk3 suit,

-the Khorne Berserkers have a couple of corrupted old (Mk2?) helmets,

-the standard tactical Marine Box contains Mk6 helmets, studded shoulder pads, plus Mk5 torsos, Mk6 legs and what looks like an Mk6 torso without cabling,

-the Forge World Red Scorpions veterans are wearing Mk4 armour (at least the helmets and the torsos),

-the new Black Reach boxed set features a pair of Mk4 legs and a MK5 helmet,

-the special pack "armour through the ages" (available over mail order) contains a full Mk1 suit, a full Mk3 suit, and Mk2, Mk4 and Mk5 suits without arms, all metal models from the 1st Edition (Rogue Trader era),

-the new Ultramarine Veteran Sergeant Chronos is wearing what appears to be an upgraded Mk3 suit

-one of the helmets from the Chaos Space Marines box looks a bit Mk5ish (though I wouldn't use it), plus the box contains a Mk5 torso (or so I'm told)

-the Forge World Death Guard Upgrade pack features what looks like a HEAVILY corrupted form of special Mk2 or Mk3 armour, with parts of Mk5 armour mixed in,

-the Black Templars upgrade pack contains a Mk4 helmet and torso,

-etc. (keep looking, there's probably more I've forgotten or don't know about...)

hope this helps...

The other day I got a good look at the ork lootas and burna sprue and realised that with a little bit of work you can combine the loota's weapons with parts of the Devistator sprue and get som RT and 2nd ed style plastic weapons I havn't had the chance to try this myself but I have enough of the really old guns to know it should be possible and worth a try for anyone wanting to do the work.

Well really we need Esinhorn to come back and edit the post, or else a kind mod with a heart of gold could perhaps do it? :)

Also we can now add to the list:

Maxmini 'Steam Knight' Helmets. This includes (from left to right) a Thousand Son specific helm, ultramarine patern (mk3?) helm, World Eater helm, standard mk3 helm and standard mk4 helm.

I would say that these are perhaps the most useful release for pre-heresy modellers since the Red Scorpion veteran upgrade pack from Forgeworld!

Also:

Maxmini Pre-Heresy Jump Packs

Word cannot describe how much I love these packs! The big jet turbine look is straight out of Collected Visions and no doubt inspired by Rogue Trader, these look a lot better in person than any pic I have seen, and are definately the cheapest option to give a distinctive pre-heresy look to your assault troops.

Using MaxMini componants has its own problems if you play in your local GW store rather than a Club, many managers have apparantly told not to allow minis with MaxMini componants to be seen on the shop floor (dont know about gaming rooms) due to a licencing Issue. This has also been taken by some not to allow heresy era armies as they sell warhammer 40k nor warhammer 30k.

just thought id make every body aware of this perticually if you ever plan on going to a tourney with any of them.

As a long time GW player, but never a Marine player (yawn)...I am thoroughly excited by the Pre-Heresy aspect. Having just polished over something like 10 Horus Heresy novels, I am thoroughly inspired.

I'll definitely be starting a pet project into this genre, and this thread has provided some excellent info. Makes me sad though that I didn't collect/keep enough Rogue Trade, 2nd Edition stuff when I was first getting into GW. I would have had a great selection! Thanks for the info. Looks expensive (ie. buying a box, and using 3/10 miniatures) but I'm sure I could sell off spares etc.

I took the liberty to fix the dead links. If anyone has anything to add, feel free.

Also, maxmini and scribor are also good sources for pre-heresy stuff and ebay is always your friend for unique pieces and older models.

It was pointed out that the Red Scorpions sergeant has a mk1 torso, the assault marines all seem to have mk1 torsos also as do two of the honour guard (modified with gorgets) and Sevrin Loth. Maybe these were all meant to be mk4 but they're more like mk1.

What would the best plasma gun be?

The plasma guns wielded by a squad of Thousand Sons in Collected Visions closely resemble the old (1st/2nd Ed) plastic Ork plasma guns. Getting your hands on some of those would be a challenge to say the least.

I'm not sure of other Heresy-era plasma gun sightings...
