Sandolphon
Hey, gonna start off with my first post being my main marine force, my Angels of Vengeance, that I've been working on for about a year and a half. The highlighting looks pretty over the top in the pics, but it's not quite as extreme as it looks... just the nature of my cheap camera I guess. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/marine.jpg Basic Marine, slight work to pose the legs to give him a better stance. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/PB180052.jpg Chapter Badge http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/speeder3.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/Speeder2.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/Speeder1.jpg their speeder, first of a few hopefully http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/speeder-base.jpg Never did trust the GW flying bases, so what better to keep it up than a sturdy Guardsman! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/TerminatorApothacary.jpg and a teaser of my Terminator Apothicary... the armies at the store where I play, but I'm gonna drag it home for some more photos in a few days I think. The army's coming along, but I've got a Guard tank company, and with Apocolypse and the fact that I like to build and paint tanks more than infantry is kinda slowing things up, but the Termie Librarian is almost done! CaptainShrike
The highlighting on your guys really shows out a lot. How many times did you highlight the land speeder? Sandolphon
The highlighting on your guys really shows out a lot. How many times did you highlight the land speeder? Just once... thin line of codex grey on the edges on top of a basecoat of Armoury black primer and a matte varnish, touch up the things I want shiny with testors gloss coat with a brush, and that's it... part of why I went with Angels of Vengeance. About to go upload some pics of the Terminator Librarian I just finished on the HQ showcase thread if you guys are interested... The Vindicator that started the whole mess. This was well before there were any rumors of a plastic one from GW, and I had a Rhino that I had picked up cheap hanging around. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/P1020062.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/P1020063.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/P1020064.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/126589-angels-of-vengeance/#findComment-1462368 Share on other sites
zaku41k
Keep up the good work, truly amazing. Especially the Venerable Dreadnaught. Btw, why is the 2nd Squad Vet. Sandolphon
It was off of a Chaos Lord model, and the inside joke is that it's painted like one of the other marine player's army where I game, so if he's on my side, he's pissed that one of his allies got killed, and if he's on the other side, he just ripped it off the traitorous scum. That and I like to joke that when he fires his bolt pistol he's actually chucking the helmet at somebody... usually works better when I make the joke. Favoured of the Emperor
Nice models, amazing painting! I am thinking about painting AoV, and how would you go about painting the Chapter Symbol? Nice use of a guardsmen, first good thing I have seen a guardsman do! Sandolphon
Well I use a 15/0 brush, start with Skull White to flesh out the skull, Chaos Black to fix any goofs, Red Gore for the hood, and Skull White again for the wings. I've never been happy with GW decals, so I stopped using them a long time ago. Sandolphon
Finished a new set of arms for the less venerable dread... and makes him not venerable at all for rules... till I make the Apocolypse datasheet anyway... hehe. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j195/optimus_prime_1983/Mortis.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/126589-angels-of-vengeance/#findComment-1469733 Share on other sites
Sandolphon
Chaplain Metatron. There's been rumors in the Jewish texts that Metatron was the twin brother of the angel Sandalphon, which could lead to some interesting fluff for my two big guys if I ever got around to it... lothlorienmoon
It all looks cleanly blocked in and well put together. Colors are nice and sharp as well. Maybe work on softening the black highlight in some places. Other than that, I'd be proud to put those down in front of me for a game. Favoured of the Emperor
Oooooo, nice Chaplain! The fluff sounds cool, it should all come down to a massive schismy showdown (everything does in my life!) The Dread looks like hes gonna kick some ass!
