Basing: Urban / industrial / CoD bases

Recommended Posts

Well this is mys way of doing bases quick and easy, it took about 1houer to do 35 bases.

Material needed:

-PVA glue

-Super glue

-Wood filler

-Gravel, sand and small basing slate (urban basing kit)

-medium basing slate (urban basing kit)

-Cork

-Guitar wire

-Bits (raid your bit box for cool stuff)

-Net (I used a plastic musqito net)

-COD basing kit and urban basing kit can help you a long way but it can be replaced with bits.

More material can bee added and most of them replaced this is only the list I used.

First I took the bases and PVA glued the Urban basing rubbel and Cod basing rubbel (both can be replaced with bits) on the bases.

Then I took some wood filler and added some to the base

Then I took a tool and smoothen it out all over the base (do not cover details on the bitz you glued)

Next add some of the different materials by gently pushing them into the filler to make a more "sunken" effect and it makes the bases less clutterd and more realistic.

Repeat the process and be warned wood filler can be quite messy.

This is my results so far I will continue this tutorial as soon as possible I have to wait for the filler to dry. Hope it will be of some use for someone.

It's now been a week, I'm sure they are dry, pleeese continue...

I'd never thought of wood filler to blend the Resin bits to a base. Great idea.

Splendid! Also, some may be interested to know that oil-based wood filler doesn't really set up on these, so make sure you use water based. Also, you can use unsanded grout in a premixed tub as a filler...the nice thing is you don't have to add gravel to it when you're done!

Nice work, thanks for sharing!

He means City of Death bases, and as said before, the thread is almost two years old. Leave it alone and let it die peacefully.

Not trying to start any turmoil, but I thought the point of tutorial threads and FAQ threads was so they COULD be looked up at later dates without starting new threads for topics that were already covered.

Maybe the OP could host the images here on the B&C?
