Bannus
It took me a while to get these guys done because I wasn't sure what I was after. I didn't know what I wanted, but I knew it when I saw it. So it took a little experimantation to get the look I was after. I wanted to keep them largely mono-chromatic....like my first army. But I wanted to keep them visually interesting too. I accomplished this by adding tiny bits of color throughout the - brightly colored cables (many of them striped) and little bits of metal. I also added grey to the pallet and started painting random plates - but this looked too disjointed. The models were not unified. So I restricted the grey to their faceplates and the occasional knee and elbow plate. Here they are: http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z25.jpg Group shot. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z24.jpg Sergeant and Squad Leader. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z23.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z22.jpg Details of Sergeant. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z21.jpg Missile launcher and heavy bolter. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z20.jpg Close up of missile launcher. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z19.jpg Lascannon and heavy bolter. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z18.jpg Details of lascannon. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z17.jpg I wanted the bolter armed Marines to do more than just serve as "ablative armor" - so these two carry extra ammo hoppers for the heavy bolters. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z16.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z15.jpg These two (and the Squad Leader) carry extra rounds for the missile launcher. Brother Chaplain Ryld
As usual bannus, your Iron Hands is top notch. I particularly like the sergeant. Good work.
Mortifis
I was wondering how people would use all the extra bits on the Devastator sprues, now I know!
KfS
I like how as a whole they are all very unified looking, yet at the same time, each has their own 'personality', so to speak. Very nice, great work.
PirateRogue
What shoulderpads did you use? It looks like the Machine God Symbol and I am in search of some of those.
AkiraCho
you can find the machine shoulder pads from vehicle sprues. very good work tho bannus, how much time did you spend converting and playing around with those fellows?
Mac Gal
Great job on those devastators. They look really cool, and i like the idea of using tacticals to carry extra ammo. If only the pics were bit bigger :)...
Undertaker
I'm out of words...It is surprising how a simple scheme like this one looks so awesome. Once again, good job bannus.
Bannus
how much time did you spend converting and playing around with those fellows? Assembling them didn't take too long as I already had a pretty good idea how I wanted them to look as far as position goes. I dinked around with the paint jobs for weeks - trying to get them to look the way I wanted. Giving each one his own personality while still remaining unified overall was the hard part. Too much personalization and they didn't look like a squad. Get them to look like a squad and then the personality drops. I felt that the Iron Hands wouldn't be too interested in decoration - but would actually find the mechanical elements themselves to be appropriate decoration. Trying to convey that through paint proved to be a little more difficult than I thought. After some trial and error with this squad, I'm believing the rest will go faster now that I have a "formula" figured out for them. Thanks for the comments, everybody. faol
Very very nice devastators Bannus, I like the little details you've added and can you tell me how you painted your weapons. this is a little OT but happy birthday +1 (my birthday was the 3rd) stupid  superbowl
Wolkenmann
Very, very fine work. Just a bit to clean in the metalic look but hey, they're Marines.. You can be proud of.
ShinyRhino
These look spectacular. I love the a-gunner concept. Reminds me of when I first got to my infantry unit, all us boots got the glorious job of humping extra mortar rounds, machine gun barrels and ammo drums. Consider the idea officially "poached." ;)
Capt. Kenaz
As always Bannus your IH's look great. I'm working on a Steel Confessors army currently as a side project, and take much inspiration from your models.... The trooper holding the extra Hvy. Bolter ammo is great!! How did you position the left hand to do that? I'd love to incorporate that into my all Hvy. Bolter Dev. Squad! Oh, and the colors came out just right, just enough pop to break up the all black and silver.
Boy Miller
As always your IH look fantastic! I love the marines carrying extra ammo, I think I will be stealing that idea :) Every time you post something it makes me want to start an IH force! Do you have an group shot of your army anywhere? Would love to see how it looks all together! BM
Bannus
The trooper holding the extra Hvy. Bolter ammo is great!! How did you position the left hand to do that? IIRC, the hand came with the Dev box set and I used the straight right arm from the Commander box set - but the arm could have been in the Dev box too. Do you have an group shot of your army anywhere? Would love to see how it looks all together! For my new IH army, there isn't much yet: Devistator Squad Land Speeder Land Raider Rhino Dreadnought 2xTechmarines Iron-Father That is about it at the moment. As for a group shot - I don't think it would turn out as my camera is really limited. Heck, half of the wires I painted don't even show up on these photos! faol
What about you current IH arm or are you just repainting those minis or buying new to go along with the old^_^
Bannus
I canabalized a good part of my old army to build this one (and my Sallie army*) - the hobby is just getting too expensive to do otherwise. Now I will have to re-organize all my bitz again since it appears that I will not be purchasing any more IH bitz from GW anymore. I had sorted them so I knew how many bitz I could apply to each unit I was currently working on and get the bitz I needed in the future to finish off other units (like a Command and Veteran Squad). But now I will need to reorganze them so that the bitz I have can be spread out enough to handle the current and future projects. * I had actually built my first IH army to be easily converted into a Sallie army at a later date when I had shaken most of the rust off of my painting skills and figured out a way to easily paint the green. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/bannus/z100.jpg Here is the only full army pic I have from my old army - but it was only half completed at the time. Since then a second Land Raider was added, a Predator, two more Tactical Squads, a Scout Squad, a Speeder and a few Terminator Sergeants. There is probably a few units I'm missing at the moment, but I think I mentioned most of them.

BLARGAG!!!
wait a minute!!! the iron hands tac squads are $60 now? i just picked one up @ my local shop for like $24!!!! HA take that GW. (i think the reason that it was only $24 was that the box had been sitting on the shelf since the box had come out..... how long ago was that now, like 7 years? either way i totally made out like a bandit!) just thought that i should share that and tell bannus that he is doing an amazing job with his iron hands. BLARGAG!!!
