CM Dante
Another lot of incredible looking mini's on the cards then, sweet! The sorcerers hand looks fantastic, did you use any wire as a base for the fingers? He's shaping up to be a very characterful piece with a great little story playing out to boot. Looking forward to seeing more updates on these. Hi mate No I didn´t use any wiring for the fingers ( althought I should have) it´s only GS and the back of a chaos warrior glove. And Don´t worry there´s be notch to you too in this army, I just got to find a good idea... Prot
Hi people the past two weeks' job terminator sgt http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/DSC01196-1.jpg as usual comments, criticism, rock throwing welcome Ju Kaleb Daark Kaleb, I've been watching this thread for a while and am thoroughly enjoying your progress. I am starting up Alpha myself but haven't quite nailed down. Personally I really like this blue in your terminator but I can't place it. I've read your tutorial but I recall midnight being a little darker... and it's not available in the range right now. Personally I've used Regal which is close (for NightLords). What blue is on the termie at this point? It almost looks a tad lighter... like Enchanted blue. Just curious... Keep up the good work. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1557150 Share on other sites
Kaleb Daark
It's definitely regal blue at this point, on the brighter parts, and midnight blue on the darker parts... I didn't know midnight was available anymore....I hope I'll have enough  and don't hesitate to ask questions if you need help (PM or on this tread) coz Sharing is my modo  Ju Kaleb Daark Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1557178 Share on other sites
Prot
Well thanks for answering my question. I'm not sure what a 'modo' is but I appreciate your sharing. Here's a Night Lord Raptor I did in Regal: To me it just seems so much darker. I really like the Blue you attained with that termie. I haven't decided if I will highlight in greens as you have or just in blues like I've done with the Raptor. Have you done any vehicles yet? Any testing with green on the vehicles? Again, great work. Looking forward to seeing more. Kaleb Daark
Well thanks for answering my question. I'm not sure what a 'modo' is but I appreciate your sharing. Have you done any vehicles yet? Any testing with green on the vehicles? Modo roughly means way of thinking and/or acting .... in french I´m not sure this exists too is english... <_< I think Regal jus looks darker on your figures because of the clearer blue highlightings. Or because you applied it directly on the black basecoat... I don´t know pics can be deceptive sometimes... :P By the way your Night Lord is really great looking. Very nice job mate. The lightning bolt are really well done. I don´t have any vehicule yet in my AL but I´ll get a predator and.... that´s it ;) ( and may be a FW dreadnought)... but that won´t be for next update, If I wanna complete this army I´d better start painting a little more. To answer your question I don´t see why the usual technique wouldn´t do . ;) Ju Kaleb Daark and thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1557643 Share on other sites

3vilX
Keep up the good work! Oh, and here's a few details on the operatives: -they use disguises to sneak around inside enemy territory. -they're extensively trained in combat. -some of them are psykers that are to old to become astertes um... that's all i can remember now... I'll see if I can't find my copy of legion... kravi
Modo roughly means way of thinking and/or acting .... in french I´m not sure this exists too is english... Ju Kaleb Daark In English (and Latin) the term, I believe, is "modus operandi". Modo, if I remember correctly, is just a corruption of the same phrase. --Me EDIT: And being the jackass that I am, I forgot to write how much I'm loving this thread and the work you do. It's really quite inspirational. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1558972 Share on other sites

Stormreaver
Your Alpha blow mine out of the water... You have many very similar ideas (I also have Ultramarine chosen, but mine look a lot more chaotic), but your execution of the green highlights are way better then mine. I'll try post some on mine up when I got more painted. I love the idea of the spearman dragon heads for hydras, permission requested to use the idea in my army? My sculpting isnt very good and so what I was planning to do was get a core of fairly unamibitous squads done then play about with making more ambitious models to make the army more characterful, but youve painted more in yours then I have all year , hehe, must get painting! Ekkanus
ultra chosen squad's sgt http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/DSC01202.jpg Any chance of the recipe for this flesh? This is the same kind of colour i want for my helmetless marines as well, i saw something similar in the old Chaos Codex, but have never found out how to do it!!! Love the stuff you've done so far, and i love that Sorcerer! I've got one of them as well, but want to try and make him look more Slaaneshi but not sure how to do it. Brother Nihm
I'd hazard a guess at a Codex Grey equivalent over a black basecoat, highlighted with a mix of Fortress Grey equivalent + Codex Grey. It looks a lot like this you see. I'll be looking forward to seeing more after you've finished moving Kaleb! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1567632 Share on other sites
Corax_rg
Hey kaleb. Im gonna jump straight to the point. I demand paint on that sorcerer. He looks so good, and the hand looks great. I really appreciate the tutorial, but im having trouble getting my hands on the old missle launcher. But i will! ;) Hope the move goes smoothly, and keep up the good work. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1567795 Share on other sites

No problem: _ Basecoat : an equal mix of codex grey and liche purple (I personnally added a tiny drop of chaos black) _ Then codex grey alone _ then a mix of codex grey and bleached bone ( you could also use fortress grey instead) Here it is ;) Corax The sorcerer is next on my TO DO list, and he´s not packed yet so I might show you some pics before moving But i´m still having some ftrouble with the lightning bolts, they still don´t look good enough... Ekkanus
Awesome! Thanks Kaleb! I'll give that a pop later today at some point. Brother Nihm
Personally I wouldn't add wire-lightning as it's already an excellent convertion with a wicked pose. Just paint him up (you can always leave the arm for last if you decide to add lightning anyway). :teehee: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1569196 Share on other sites
Ekkanus
I agree with Brother Nihm actually Kaleb - the way the pose is it looks like that Death Korp dude is having the life choked out of him by the force/some weird psychic power! Lucrosium Malice
These look great Kaleb! The paint jobs are top notch and the conversions are stunning and very dynamic. The sorcerer is flat out incredible. I am curious as to where you got the dragon heads for the helmet. Where ever they came from the application is perfect! I too like the idea of not including the lightning arc from the hands of the sorcerer. Unless it looks wicked cool. But sometimes that will detract from the focus of the model which should be the sorcerer, not what he's doing. Keep em coming, they look incredible or should I say, incroyable! Kaleb Daark
It would symplify things a lot.... But I was hoping on making an osl on this... In the end, I think I´ll go without the lightning bolts ( I fear they would be too fragile anyway :) ) It´s already basecoated, i think I´ll work on this this week end, if it´s interesting enough i´ll post pics :D Ju Kaleb Daark Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-1569331 Share on other sites
Kaleb Daark
Hi there people! Long time no see! With the French Waaagh Day coming I got back to this army. I know 'bout time! I have to finish 750 pts of this Alpha Legion It has changed quite a bit since I started it , some figures have changed, some went to other armies, and I also changed the way I paint'em Here's my army list: Lord with plasma pistol and power sword 5 terminators with lightning claws, reaper autocannons and saw fist 1 squad of 5 marines with a melta 1 another squad of 5 marines with melta and power fist 1 squad of 5 marines with flamer 5 havocs with 4 missiles launchers . Now the pics: The lord http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010006.jpg Now this fella has changed quite a bit ( not the same figure I used my True scale attempt) Many people told told me the first one was a bit too mutated for a Legionnaire and I must say I kinda agree with'em ( at the beginning he was due to be a Word bearer dark apostle in fact) so I decided to make a new less mutated one. And yes his' banner's the icon bearer's one since he's no longer part of this army. Some troopers: sergeant http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010013.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010011.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010002225.jpg As I said I changed my way of painting 'em, but the colours are still the same 7 more to paint Some terminators sergeant: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010017.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010014.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010018.jpg 2 more to paint Havocs: sergeant: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010002224.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010002221.jpg 2 more to paint And last but not least my fake ultra marines squad! sergeant: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P101004.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010021.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010027.jpg And the Objectif marker: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/kalebdaark/Alpha%20Legion%20Chaos/P1010002228.jpg Did you think I threw him out?! Of course he's not finished yet. Kinda hurts usin'it as an objective marker but I couldn't just throw him away and it didn't fit in 750 pts. Now gotta go painting! As usual comments and critics apreciated El JuJu Kaleb Daark 12 days left , 13 figures to go Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/129597-alpha-legion-army-project/page/4/#findComment-2251930 Share on other sites

Not that much, I just replaced the scaly green with snot green, may be that's the reason ithe green's brighter.
