Yeah,I think ill go for the Wounded Veteran. I like that idea. And yeah,im aware that im going to lose a lot of men,so im just wondering can chaos marines still recruit people?? I may even change the idea,and say that due to the unpredictability of the planets climate,the grey knights had trouble locating any form of base entrance,and as such decided to eradicate the problem a whole lot easier. I see what you mean about the dwarfen steel,im going to change that. Yeah,he has a Glaive and a powerfist aswell as his customized gun The Punisher. I just thought id throw that in there but it doesent work so ill change it. Thanks for you help :D

Incorrect. A chapter which has turned to chaos should be able to take its equipment with them, which allows them to create marines like a loyalist chapter. It is only when they limp away with just a strike cruiser they are unable to create new marines. In addition to this, Fabious Bile creates "new men" for each of the chaos legions, so a chapter might be able to get some of them as well.

Yeah,i will be writing the finalized IA aswell as a start on the short story soon,i just have Real Life issues coming up atm. (My exams start in like 2 days days pretty much) but i get some study leave and exams dont last forever so i can make a good start on in at somepoint in the next few months.

This isnt 100% done and im hoping to do a more In Depth version eventually,with a full chapter history and stuff but for now this is what i have.

The Dragon Claws

Origins.

Once a loyal imperial chapter, respected by many and hated by few. They were always willing to help their fellow battle brothers,even if it put them at jeopardy. They were created using Storm Lords gene seed,and were led by a Lucius Payne,a man known for his Strength and Intelligence. During there most important imperial battle,dubbed The Fight For Holda,they were left with little ammo,damaged tanks and were losing the battle.They called in reinforcements but none came.They managed to overcome the Ork invasion,but only just. While searching for usefull pieces of machinery,they came across the Emperors Retributon,a squad of Imperial Guardsmen that were sent to help months ago. In a moment of blind rage,the Dragons Claws killed the Emperors Retribution.Immediatly they regretted it,so Lucius gave the order to clean up the bodies and bury them. It was while the clean up operation was going on,that they discovered mutiny in the ranks. A couple of privates were planning to contact the High Lords of Terra and report there battle brothers. Lucius Payne and his Generals would not stand for this,and had the problem eradicated.

It was during the cleanup operation that an astartes battlebarge known as Bound For Glory was discovered in the vacinity.It was The Dark Hands.It was heading straight for Holda.Once it landed,the ships commander implied that The Dragon Claws were weak. When asked why this was implied,the ships commander,a small man with greying hair,replied with this.

" Well,looking at the number of ork corpses i could take those out on my own.I mean,there not exactly tough troops are they??" This annoyed Lucius,and he asked if The Commander though he could win in a fight against Lucius one on one.The Commandder sized up Lucius,and although he was big,the answer was yes. The last mistake he ever made. Noone on that barge was left alive. The corpses were burned and the weaponry salvaged. They knew that there was no going back,they would forever be regarded as heretics. Once the Dark Hands ship was seized, the computers logs contained an alpha priority message. The Imperium must have known.But how?? Was there a traitor amongst the dragons?

The Bound For Glory was sent to eradicate the Heretics.So,they were planning on waiting until The Dragon Claws were aboard before killing them. The Dragon Claws had a small amount of time to react before the Grey Knights would be sent to eradicate them . They began preparing for evacuation,getting the whole fleet ready and storing equipment on their three main ships. The Dragons Eye,Lucius's personal cruiser,the Forward Unto Dawn,the second main fleet ship,and the stolen ship Bound For Glory. They had to get off of Holda as soon as possible.

However,unbeknown to them,not to far away, hundreds of Daemonhunter Cruisers and Battlebarges were already approaching.They were closing in at a slow pace due to the sheer size and weight of the mighty force they had prepared. It would be a while before they arrived...But would it still be too soon??

Unsure of what it meant Lucius continued with his plans to evacuate. However,as final preparations were being made,the Grey Knights began there first attack phase.The first wave of Deamon Hunters were closing in on there target. As they began their descent,they were picked up on radar and The Dragon Claws began to realise that this may be their final stand,one last moment of calm before they go on to fight the hardest battle theyll ever face.The last battle theyll ever be expected to fight.The odds are against them...but thats never stopped them before.

They were victorius in there hardest battle,and escaped with their lives intact. Tons of civillians and the crew of Unautharised Abscence were killed that day.They will never stop fighting,exsisting only to seek revenge on the corrupt system that killed the citizens of their beloved homeworld. Althought Holda was not fully destroyed,it may as well be,becuase for them it will never be the same. There is an area of barren hillside,beside a crater caused by the Grey Knights attack,which has a Shrine to those who died,and a sword stuck into the ground,as a sign of respect for the men who died a warriors death.They never gave up. They lived to fight and fought to live.

Geneseed

The Dragon Claws were created using Jaghatai Khan's geneseed. There are some signs of possible mutation from the gene seed:

It is postulated that Jaghatai Khan's gene-seed was contaminated by the DNA of the tribal population of his home world, and the savagery and thirst for war of the population became part of the gene-seed.

The Dragon Claws love to fight,it is practically all they live for,there hatred for the imperium is what drives them towards battles which dont really concern them,where an imperial chapter are fighting a renegade chapter.

Combat Doctrine.

The Dragon Claws are true Warriors,fighting whenever possible.Due to the fact they have been fighting for 100s of years,there combat syle has developed according to there discoveries of the best fighting style for there chapter. They are very tricky oppenents to overcome,because they search out a weakness and strike where the enemy are lacking. They are formidable Close Combat fighters,however there preference for attacks is there even more impressive gun control and accuracy.

They also have a special weapon in the shape of "The Punisher". This is Lucius's custom Bolter,that fires Shells containing plasma that are coated in a strong acid.They burn through the section of armour,before exploding and unleashing plasma on the exposed area. Although he doesent always use this gun,it is known that he never leaves it on his ship.Although his useual combination of Power Fist and Force Glaive is tough,if he uses "The Punisher" the chances of victory for the opposition are practically none.

But why would a weapon as small as the punisher mean certain victory?

It means almost certain victory due to its huge power.I know it may seem a little over the top but if this is said by many people i shall change it.I just liked the concept of the gun and i thought that due to its shot type it would be a strong weapon.

I'm not saying there is a problem with the idea I just think a single pistol size weapon that Lucian can carry around 100 shots for isn't going to mean the end of the world for a regiment of guardsmen or a company of space marines. I don't see any problem with the gun otherwise. And it does sound quite strong.

Fair enough.I propose a comprimise. How about,in battle this gun is an extremly formidable weapon,even more so than his useual combination of Forceglaive and Powerfist.
