All photos in first post turned into links. Updates will have the latest photos, and when I start getting full army shots I'll put them here.

Some photos from my living room floor as I sorted out my collection of sprues:

In these piles are enough parts to build over 250 Marines, and 20 Rhino chassis. Point and laugh as I set myself goals on building and painting some of these. For assembly, I won't be gluing on the shoulder pads or the backpacks, but as much as as feasable. Arms holding boltguns or heavy weapons most likely will be left off until painted. Some shots of the modelling table:

So over the weekend, I put together three squads ready for paint, while watching the Lord of the Rings movies, several volumes of Angelic Layer, and going through a six-pack of stubbies.

Squad One (Tactical):

Squad Two (Tactical):

Squad Seven (Assault):

Stay tuned for more exciting installments, as and when (if?) they happen!

Apologies for necromancy, but I figured this was the best place to put this - I'm turning this thread into a progress log for my Battle Company as I get them assembled/painted. After my 2nd company marines are finished, I'll start on the 3rd. And so on. I have enough miniatures lying around (and if I strip the old ones) I can do most of the four Battle Companies as well as most of the 1st company. Heh. Just need to buy more Land Raiders to cart them around in.

Anyway, photos are up on the first post. I'll be posting new updates in new posts on this thread. Undercoating is due tomorrow, and painting later this week. I'll be aiming to have photo updates once a week, as I'm trying to get a full squad painted each and every week until Christmas. We'll see how I go.

Updates! Most of this was done last weekend, but I haven't been able to take half-decent photos until this morning.

Work is progressing, almost finished the first squad (minus weapons and backpacks). Hoping to get these guys finished in the next day or two, so I can start the next squad. Aiming to have at least 25 marines finished by the end of the month, 30 would be better.

I've started free-handing the Chapter Badge and Squad Badges, using fairly simple designs.

Chapter Badge - Ultramarines "U" with a simplified sword icon embedded within.

Squad Badge - Vertical stripe for Tacticals, will be an "X" for Assault and a triangle for Devastators. Squad number is to the front corner of the shoulder pad.

Squad Leaders and Sergeants will have shoulder trim inverted (black pads with purple trim).

Sergeants will also have helmets inverted (purple, with black face plate).

Not sure if I'll be marking the company on the marines. Probably should, since I have enough Marines to make at least three companies.

Thats SO impressive. I thought I had a lot when I got the Tyranid Assault Brood...HO LEY SH!@.

I'm in the process of making a 1st company. I currently have 5 Termies and a Termie Chaplain. =-D

Considering you started in February, and just posted a few days ago, you've made some slow progress! Get off your phany GO!! 30 guys though, in 6 months..I think you passed your 4 month quota =-D

3 companies..pheww..Good luck. (you could probably make some great bank by selling 2 of them)

Umm... Progress? What is this word? </sarcasm>

I do actually have some small progess to report. I have a bunch of tanks airbrushed as a base coat, and started working on a couple of them to lay down the black base before highlighting.... but I've been painfully slack.

Here's the photos I do have..

Full Army shots.

Not the most effective tournament army, but it was fun to play. It is greatly apparent to me that I need more scoring units, so I'm thinking about just spamming Tactical Squads and going back to the drawing board. Hopefully I'll be able to knuckle down and actually paint some stuff.

If I get bored painting Tacticals, I've got piles of Terminators I can start sifting through...

Who needs scoring units when your army looks like that! ...well..half your army. The purple tanks actually look pretty good. (to me) Though, you have a lot of flash on your models..you might want to take care of that in your next batch (these too even)

Great stuff! Thanks for the post

Edit: Poke you with a stick. Got it =-D

Haha, thanks man. The models that are only undercoated were basically thrown together just so I could use them (tourney had minimum required undercoated to use models... didn't stop some people). I will be going back to clean off the flash/mold lines before painting.

Please keep poking me with a stick, and maybe I'll update more often
